He has been hyped by Bobrow as a Waldner reincarnate.Actually, Boll was one of the first top Europeans who didn't have an all round game personifying the decline of European TT.

@@reinaldopessoa2603 He had poor defence-if you forced him away from the table he was a dead chicken which was not the case for the previous generation of European TT players.His forehand pivot was very weak and couldn't block. European players of the past could play both offence and defence,had a powerful forehand and good touch.Now they mostly play a backhand oriented style with spinny loops and little variation.Boll was one of the first to embrace the new style.

in table tennis you can only make points with your opponent's errors. Every point ends with an error. But I agree that Hugo made a few unforced errors to much for the Victory at the end.

@@luismendoza6656 tell you why it wouldn't work, Firstly Waldner was very familiar with Ma Lin's game they played each a lot since 99. Secondly Waldner's technique at that time was to use the opponents attack against them then if necessary make an attack of his own. But now not is the game twice as fast but Fan Zhendong has both ma lin and Waldner's game put together where he can not only attack but deflect as well.
