    If you get this kind of filter box lid I without having it remapped I’d recommend using a original air filter not a high airflow filter since it equals it out a good bit meaning you still get the nice deep sound from the induction without making a huge difference to your airflow

    $60 for piece of plastic with some foam? It would make sense to do it yourself from the stock one, isnt it?

    Do not perform this model it is not an upgrade it bypasses the air filter and that foam will get sucked into your throttle body. I just fixed one for a customer who thought he was smarter than the engineers that designed the bike. See pictures here.

    Hi Mike ! I own a 401 Vitpilen. I was wondering if you noticed any engine change since you mount the coober lid ? Torque or power ? Except the sound ? Thank you, regards

      Feels like the bike is much more eager to rev. Imagine trying to breathe thru a straw all your life and then someone gives you full access to your mouth. That's probably what my duke feels 😂

    Does this mean if I change from stock to an aftermarket exhaust. I have to get the stock ecu adjusted. Since I don't have a piggy back ecu .

  • @commader620
    @commader620 3 роки тому

    Yes you wools have to add the ECU. Sound advice for this mod..

    • @MotoMedicine904
      @MotoMedicine904  3 роки тому

      You wouldn't necessarily need an aftermarket ecu for just the airbox lid or any high flow filter....when it's the ONLY mod you have. When you add in a catless high-flow exhaust it would then be very important to get an aftermarket fuel controller

  • @daytonasayswhat9333

    You took the stock filter out, right? I saw another vid where the guy leaves the oem green filter in there, then puts the Coober lid on top of that.

    • @MotoMedicine904
      @MotoMedicine904  3 роки тому

      No. You're supposed to leave the OEM filter in place. If you don't you will be bringing in a bunch of unfiltered air from the stock snorkel location. The lid is just an extra means of air intake.

    • @daytonasayswhat9333
      @daytonasayswhat9333 3 роки тому

      @@MotoMedicine904 you are correct, actually. I checked with Cooper today and they said the same thing. They said the stock air filter actually flows pretty good.

  • @brianlee343

    I found the after market lid displaces the cfm from the stock air filter (making the stock filter obsolete), so under the stock air filter and drilled large holes in the bottom of my air box (near the drain holes) and also a large hole behind the battery. The after market lid made my k&n air filter worthless...

    • @brane1872
      @brane1872 4 роки тому +2

      Nooooo, are you stupid???
      Your motorcycle now breathes unfiltered air, if you looked you would see that airbox sucks air from the bottom. This lid just adds another (filtered) hole in the airbox. Wihout the main filter (stock,k&n,dna...) unfiltered air goes from the bottom straight to your engine...

    • @ironmikeharrington
      @ironmikeharrington 4 роки тому +1

      @@brane1872 yes you are bypassing the filter doing this....most people are confused about the air direction through the stock filter, it passes from the bottom through.

    • @MotoMedicine904
      @MotoMedicine904  3 роки тому +1

      I mean with everything installed, Airbox lid, Mini Cat, Powertronic ECU... it helped give the bike a better feeling midrange of torque. It could easily power wheelie up in 1st gear. The top end pulled harder as well without dipping off quite as much. Thr ECU got rid of all thr low speed jerkiness as well whenever you're under 4,000 rpm

      @@dukericgo8155 you can use both preloaded maps on a stock bike or a bike that has light mods such as exhaust, air filter and decat. With the map selector switch I can go back n forth between the 2 of them on the fly. Map 1 is a little more tame with nice low end torque. Map 2 is more aggressive with high end punch.
