Hey thanks for your video, I found it helpful. Do you have any guidance on using the RHS laser guided GBU-12s? Do I just drop them in the general direction of a friend lazing a target and hope for the best?
I am glad I could help. You must make sure that the laser your friend is using has the same code as your GBU. By default it is "1111", usually this is a non issue, but if you have tried everything, that may be it. However, you must press "T" on the laser designated target. An incomplete square should appear, if a dotted square appears point more towards the target until the incomplete square appears, then fire. Make sure your friend maintains the laser on the target until they see effect. If no square appears, the GBU cannot see/detect the laser, come back for another approach. Keep in mind GBUs are non powered ordinance. Instead, they correct their ballistic path to hit the target, but can only do so up to a degree. I might make a video on this one soon. Edit: The UI changed a bit from what I remember. After testing, I updated my comment to how it is now.
@@El3v8 Thanks for your reply! Coming from DCS I'm a tad frustrated, I feel like I basically am just having to manually CCIP dive-bomb the target. I can see their laze on my hud but can't get anything to lock up.
@@flyjdix3730 I noticed that the GBU-12 is LOAL (Lock On After Launch). You only have to be at reasonable range for the GBU to correct itself (Not too close and not too far off the target). Funnily enough your first statement was kind of right. I suggest using the Camera, orienting the plane towards the target, and releasing the GBU once the CCIP is somewhat close to the target. Let me know if this helps.
Ctrl+C Will cycle through flare modes, burst/timed/other timed. Ctrl+N will activate the Lightning pod if it turns itself off after using up mavericks.
You absolutely saved many lives of ours. I do appreciate, man. Just a point, For 2-seat aircrafts, Achilles doesn't assign the pylons properly to the pilot or copilot. It gives all to only one of them (it can be set). But ACE can do it nicely for each pylon.
@@FD1CE absolutely. The GBUs-12 is lock on after launch (LOAL). All you have to do it line up your plane and make sure that the continuously calculated impact point (CCIP) is somewhere near the laser designated target. I have been meaning to make a video about it, but I've been putting it off. :(
@@El3v8 Thank you very much. The problem is that either I was flying with F-4 which doesn't have modern CCIP, or I was just yesterday testing A-10 which doesn't have laser designation, as I learnt from your video today :)
@@FD1CE Yeah it's a little sad that neither of them can do both. However, working with your team is always a treat. I sometimes feel a little too overpowered designating my own targets and doing a whole mission on my own
Iam having some wierd inconcsistencies. For example, my IR agm arent 'locking' as in not getting tone, the boxes around the target, etc. And yet if I align my aircraft, attempt to select a target with next vehicle etc, then release a missle anyway, it tracks and hits. Also I've yet to get the rhs A-10 gbu to guide to a laser target, nor the aim missle to lock on to an air target. The f-22 does both of these things just fine.
For the AGM it could be many things. 1) Make sure the target is hot so it can lock on. (Yes that really matters) 2) Make sure you're in the cone of effectiveness where it is able to execute a firing solution. You could be too high 3) Ensure you have RHScompat for ACE or whatever you may have 4) You can also refer to community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Targeting to understand what your sensor and missile are doing. For the GBU-12 its pretty simple 1) The GBU-12 is LOAL (Lock On After Lock) so you have to launch it without tone 2) Make sure you can see the laser on your HUD or periscope 3) Ensure that the CCIP (Constantly Calculated Impact Point) is somewhere near the laser target or the GBU-12 or else it will not be able to hit the target. BEST OF LUCK!
@@El3v8 Thanks for the reply :) I see about the gbu, will have to do further testing, Iam having other issues with the A-10, example the aim missles. Even using the exact same missles as the F-22, it just refuses to get a lock, pickup the target with the box around it other anything. Once again, the F-22, no issues whats so ever. SHould also point out the TV AGMs worked, had to focus the camera on the target.
Now I feel dumb I got the AGM-65 to work, I got the GBU - but I can't get the AIM-9M to hit a Mi-8 Hip. It doesn't even lock on. I was trying to press both R and T The helicopter not only was hot, I set it to loiter at ~200m No tone, nothing. It just goes straight if I fire. Could you please help?
Thank you for the question. After some testing, I noticed a few things about the AIM-9M. Firstly, make sure that your target is a little low in your HUD before you press "T". The lock-on area is a little lower than you might expect. Also, the AIM-9M has a minimum distance to target where it can lock-on. Make sure that you are no closer than 1km from your target before you attempt to lock-on else you will not have enough time to fire before you pass your target, or even worse crash into it. Finally, engaging helicopters that are completely stationary at high altitude can actually be fairly challenging since it is hard to use the camera view. Moreover, I would suggest saving those AIM-9Ms for a target that poses a larger threat, like another plane. I hope this helps!
Hello, thank you for watching my video. Here is my discord discord.gg/496Dywh . It is also in the description. I will make a video soon about GBU's. Also, look under the tagged comment by "fly jdix". I explain how the GBU's work in that comment thread. I hope I have been helpful.
Sorry for late reply, it depends on what you're getting locked on by. If you are getting locked on by IR missiles there is nothing you can do. The RHS a-10 can only warn you of a RADAR lock-on. Also you can only see vehicles that have active radar. However, you have to be in first person and look at the small green instrument at the upper left of the attitude indicator(gyro horizon) to see where it is coming from. If you want an audible warning, you have to turn up the radio option in settings.
I assume you mean gimbal camera. If you have no more missiles the camera will turn off. If you have a Lightning pod on one of your pilons pressing ctrl+N might turn it back on. However, a rule of thumb is when you are out of mavericks, there is no more camera feed. Switch to guns and BBRRRRTT them to oblivion!
Nice video! I find that this camera is a lot more difficult to manage than the Wipeout from NATO. Trying to learn how to use it properly and I've been kinda struggling with the GBU's. I'd lock on the target with the camera (the target is being lased by teammate) and yet, it still doesn't always drop where I aim for. Any help would be great on the other weapons, apart from the Mavericks!
GBUs are LOAL (Lock On After Launch). Make sure that you are dropping the bomb near the target, ie. the CCIP (Constantly Calculated Impact Point) is right over/near the target. If not, the GBU will not have enough time/distance to correct its natural trajectory. You should also ensure that you are dropping the bomb in the same direction that the laser is being pointed, or the laser could get obscured by the target itself. If the laser is marking a target in dense woods it's also difficult for the GBU to see the laser. I'll upload a on GBUs soon video soon. Safe flying and happy bombing!
Hey Anton, I am assuming you mean the AGM-65 make sure you are aligning the plane correctly with your target and you are using the right missile for the environment. It is most likely you are using a laser guided AGM-65 though, those do not lock on. Some missiles use the R key to lock on also. Try that also, since I am not sure what mod you are using the missile with.
You can turn on the TVM monitor by pressing CTRL+R_MOUSE and press N. If you mean to have it on even without missiles, unfortunately no. As far as I know the monitor stays on the whole time so long as you have a missile.

Some people try to help me and ask about this list, but when I explained to them that I already did it - they shrugged. If I understand correctly, the cause of my problem lies much deeper)

I'm sure you know already, but the display keybind is CTRL+R_mouse and then once in the display press N to activate the display. Also, try to mess around with the PIP(picture in picture) settings video options. If nothing works I think it might be that the PIP does not work with the mod itself. Feel free to join my discord.
