I have dove with the Great Barracuda countless times my whole life. Only once did a coda intimidate me into saying “ok, it’s your territory”. And yeah, he was BIG. And right in my face and wouldn’t back down. They usually do. Ha ha. Human attacks on divers other than their speared fish is extremely rare. And they certainly aren’t “man eaters
I speared a fish in the USVI and a 5-foot Cuda took my fish and came back to me looking for more. I got out of there. my hands were shaking for a minute .
I saw one when visiting Key West. It was just right there in the shallow water right off the beach. It didn't move. Just floated there. My mind didn't perceive it as real. It looked like something you'd see hanging on a wall. I watched for a few moments, knew I'd likely not make it back in time, but ran to get my camera. Yeah, it was gone. But I will never forget that...maybe 4 - 5 foot barracuda right there in front of me.

Okay my friend I don't mean to sound argumentative! But I grew up in the Florida Keys and the backcountry in the early sixties until 69! My mother caught a seven and a half but male barracuda was tail waited on blood at 214 lb in 1967! And to this day there are still reports of huge silver barracuda lurking around as I have friends that still live in the Keys! I assure you these are not tails! As I commented on another video that's the only fish that scares The Living Daylights out of me! I have an attack of multiple times by the time I left the area in 69 so is my father and my mother they are a frightening fish and they don't care what they beat on! Divers beware!!! Thank you for the trip down memory lane as scary as it was
Back in 2015 i was spearfishing mainly for the barracuda..I was wearing a Champion dive glass.. you know those with the round face with the shiny strip of metal around it.. a great barracuda rushed me unexpectedly out of nowhere and grab the mask on my face.. it's teeth dug my forehead, cheeks and chin.. i tried grabbing it in the gills.. when it let go I fired my speargun wildly and shot it in it's sides. I was already bleeding a lot. Good thing it happened in shallow waters. My buddy who saw what happened grab my backline and we headed for the shore and he dragged in the Cuda. We ate him a week later 😅

I’ve encountered a schooling group of 20 barracudas while diving off of Miami Florida and they cruised by me about 15 feet away. As long as you don’t have anything silvery and/or flashing you’re fine.

Wait... They attack? I thought they just floated and stared creepily and only followed when you turned away, like a slimy Boo Diddley. I didn't even know they were alive tbh. This is shocking news to me.
Never caught a Barracuda, but the most aggressive and violent fish I've ever caught was the fresh water Chain Pike....go to just about any lake in late fall in NC, wait for the water to calm to glass just at dusk, and toss a floating lure out. Just let it sit a few minutes until the water calms again, and give a few very slight twitches...... The adrenaline rush is incredible as the water explodes, and you're in for a fight as this fish has to be a close cousin of the Barracuda....ugly nasty looking alien fish!!
I’m 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. Yesterday off the big shoal on the southwest part of Powell cay in the Bahamas in 5 feet of water I had a massive barracuda easily my size if not bigger follow me around from a distance of around ten feet, this lasted about 2 minutes until I waved the boat over to come get me. I was done snorkeling after that. He was probabaly looking for scraps but it was unnerving having a hyper carnivore fish my size size me up and follow me.
Now if you had left the words 'Barracuda' & 'marine' out of the title of this clip you could be mistaken that this video was going to be about quite a few of the people running around with knives at the recent Notting Hill lawlessness carnival in London.

Three different times I have had barracudas rush me and my kids. Twice was when we just happened to be where they were chasing shiners and bait fish. The third time was when a huge one charged so incredibly fast and got within a foot of my face. Telling me that I shouldn't let my kids tease him when he was half asleep. I got that message !

Attacks on Humans are Rare since they see Divers Gear as Fish Scales that attract their attention to follow divers If you come across a Barracuda then Don’t Make any Sudden Movements
Barras are also cannibalistic and eat younger, smaller cudas. Especially when mating, if there is a cuda approaching the mating field may be assaulted and killed easily Using lures when mating period is on with zebra cuda colours can be very effective for strikes and captures.
Wear no jewelry when snorkeling around these fish and keep your distance as they are territorial creatures that are not afraid of you . I have had them watching me while snorkeling so back off slowly and calmly. They are amazing beautiful creatures of the sea .
Actually they are quite wary of us. They may approach out of curiosity, but usually you can't get too close to them. But yes, jewelry is a no no. They can take a finger before you know what happened.
Oh...when I saw the title of the video I thought it was about the way that bloodthirsty, angry marine butchers were killing millions of sharks every year , by cutting off their fins and chucking them back in the water to die a slow death, or causing what scientists term a sixth extinction event. A barracuda, unlike man, just hunts to feed itself as it was designed to do, like a cheetah or leopard. But I suppose many really stupid people like to place human monikers on animals, especially those who have a slim outside chance of actually biting a human. Just the way it is

Barracuda: [exsists]
Noisestorm: ah, a perfect name for a song that will most likley be in a music game about shapes and beats!
I made a A life ' song about
BARACUDA 2,33 MIN GRA!
Since they hunt by quick bursts of speed they should be called the cheetah of the sea
I think that's the Mako Shark
@@Quarks_Bar that too. Witch ever one is the fastest
Cheetah's tend to lose their kills to Leopards, Lions or Hyenas. Barracuda doesn't lose its kill to anyone. It's supreme when hunting.
They are so cool though they are One of my favorite fish
Tigers also hunt in quick bursts? Also cheetahs get so tired after killing they cant even eat yet.
I would call them “ The Wolverines of the sea “ They are vicious.
The narrator has an airplane pilot voice. Really enjoyed this documentary
Amazing video, you guys are really good❤
You are the best

I've heard if you don't bother them, they won't bother you. Guess mostly it seems true; but you're still taking some chances
The DA. Shouldn’t be trying to intimidate anyone.
I speared a fish in the USVI and a 5-foot Cuda took my fish and came back to me looking for more. I got out of there. my hands were shaking for a minute .
In that case, the fish stole your fish
Barracuda are simply beautiful hunters.
my grandma told me about when the wilson sisters were attacked by a barracuda back in the 70’s and ended up writing a hit song about the experience.
I saw the Wilson sisters 6 times, two times Ann said to the audience what Barracuda was about- but if your granny believes her own version let it be.
Hearts anger towards mushroom records, had nothing to do with barracuda attack

they can get massive I believe more than 3 meters long. It's all about how long they live and how much they eat. And they are good hunters.
Yup all true Barracuda is the underrated killer lurking ❓
Feeding barracuda by hand just for the camera is not a good idea. They may treat human presence as feeding time 😮

You shout Barracuda and everyone says 'hey, uh, what.'
We need these fish to combat the invasive lionfish!!
