I've got a friend that's pretty much been adopted into an orca pod. It started when he helped their matriarch return to the water. He did that by digging the sand out, so that she could float herself. He was able to follow her using a water jet. He described to me what he believes was her telling her family what happened. Their demeanor toward him almost immediately changed. They all began hitting him with echolocation. He said that it made him very sore in the end. Then one of them nuzzled him in the chest. Finally, the matriarch presented him with a fish that she had caught, placing it directly in his hand. My friends name is Jack. I don't know the orca leader's official name. She is known locally as "Keela". I have seen this myself.
I've had several interactions with Orca while spending time onboard a vessel in New Zealand waters. They struck me as very curious and posed no threat to me at anytime.
These are truly one of the most amazing creatures ever to live in this planet.More needs to be done to protect them and study them, also release them from captivity.
Ditto. We of Washington State have long memories. I mourn every time I see(off the shores of San Juan Island) these beautiful creatures and think what man has done to them.
Excellent documentary! I was convinced that the number of Orcas worldwide would largely exceed 50,000! Apparently, I was wrong! We, humans, should know more about the rich life and ecosystems of these magnificent and intelligent mammals so that we could also learn from them and further enrich our lives!
Humans didn't have to learn from the animals to be merciless killers. They have cultivated that themselves to the extreme over the ages and in nowadays are exceedingly good at that with the so many successive and succesful examples!
@@tonyfernandes3557 Sorry Humans might be worst be we are also BEST at this planet. Even orcas know that even sharks dont attack us .. everyone knows were gods on this planet ! Except cats and bears ...they are demons same as lizards xD
As a child growing up on the North West Coast of Vancouver Island, I was granted the privilege of viewing these incredibly fascinating cetaceans in their natural habitat. It's hard to describe the surreal feeling of watching a pod work a gravel rub. It was my native brothers and sisters that taught me how to fully appreciate and always respect from a distance. Cetaceans in bondage for human entertainment, military or scientific study of any kind is a crime against nature! I long for the day and hope still to be alive, to see Mother Earth and the Great Spirit say "enough!" to mankinds foolish interference.
Those beautiful mammals do not belong in a damn pool when they have the entire ocean to live. As the narrator said wild ones do not harm humans. There's a guy in Iceland that has become friends with a pod. They even bring their new babies to meet him. He just calls them and they come to the beach to greet him. It's beautiful, he gets in the water and pets them.
This video, especially the clips of the Orcas hunting dolphins, was amazing. THANK YOU!!! I echo what many have said, the Orca has been my favorite animal for decades. I have seen them from a cruise near Kodiak Island and in unfortunate tanks in Sea World (circa 1985-1986). These apex predators are truly astonishing and if I ever get the chance to swim with wild Orca, I would take the chance in a heartbeat. There is a video series on YT about such a thing...definitely something I need to explore more.
As swell as it sounds to swim with Orcas, Daniel, you just don't know if they will turn on you. And if they do, they will be so brutal and ruthless. You should watch some videos of Orca attacking and killing humans, it IS SHOCKING, and you will change your mind about wanting to swim with them-- and I used to love them, too, before I learned all this. And, their extreme intelligence makes them extremely dangerous.
@@karengarr8370 as long as you are calm they won't touch you. They will check you out with a nudge. The Pacific octopus are very curious also. They are monsters also.
I love, love, love and love this mighty, powerful animal! So smart, so cooperative, so loving, so similar to humans and so beautiful! The perfect predator, spread all over the world, from equator to the pole! Even sharks are in danger, even on Land seals are in danger, even birds are in danger, but if you treat them well and let them swim in the Ocean, you're not in danger! I can't explain how much i love orcas! 😍😍😍💓👍👍👍
They suck I hope they alll die .. bully of the seas .. they only are as powerful as they are cause they are in packs .. full grown adult sperm whale will shit on a single orca
As you said, there're the top predator . Smart, intelligent, playful. Good to have as a fish friend. And it makes one the most vicious predator the shark second. Every always spoke the shark as being the top dog, when in reality, it fear for its existence when the Orcas are around. Good reporting.
Always been my favorite marine mammal. Beautiful, intelligent, fierce, top of the food chain. Love the Orca vs GWS videos I've seen. Makes it very clear who is the boss of the oceans. Thank you.
The killer whale cannot be called smart. Like all dolphins, killer whales are well trained, but they are very stupid animals. Their "language" is just a myth popularized by illiterate people. There is not a single video or recorded attack by a killer whale on an adult healthy white shark. But there are successful attacks by smaller mako sharks on killer whales. Which the killer whales just ran away from.
I saw a Documentary on Orca Killer Whales a few years ago. And the Orca has no equal at Sea. Not even the Great White Shark is a match for the Orca, amazing.
I met Shamu and Namu when they were at Sea world in Ohio. My Mom and I sat through the show and when it was over we came out last and just wandering around saw a big tank behind the stage. We saw them in that tank and got close enough to look at them and they started talking to us and they both made motions that made me think they wanted to be petted. I gave Shamu a pat and he responded so sweetly I couldn’t resist petting him some more Namu wanted my Mom to pet her. We had no way to make photos so all we had are memories ♥️♥️♥️♥️
When I was on a long liner in the Bering Sea , I got up close and personal with these guys. It was interesting to me that they didn't raid our lines until we fished past their diving depth. When we went deep they got 90%+ of every fish hooked. We could tell they were coming when the Porpoise 's would scatter

I'm very fascinated with these majestic creatures. So beautiful, agile, powerful and intelligent. I often watch the livestream from Rubbing Beach, and listen to them communicate with each other, very cool.
What is worth noting is that their real name is translated to "whale killer" and that we changed it to killerwhale. It might be just a minor change but the way we did it can suggest that these animals just hunt everything, even humans. I guess it sounds more spectacular, more dangerous, more thrilling for visitors of shows like sea world. But we all know what minor details can do, like steven spielberg's jaws that is directly linked to us being more fearful of white sharks than e.g. hippos.
@@TheSmokeroo you mean a great white has no chance vs orcas . But size u said? And muscle I never seen any more vicious like sharks anyway thanks for information you mean no chance
Seems to me Shakespeare did not know of the Orca when he wrote that Man was the Paragon of Nature.....watching this just spells it out that he was wrong......this Amazing Beast is what I would call Perfection !
The Orcas they are so majestically unique . Beautiful animals , but i for one believe that it is inhumane and selfish to have them swimming in a small fish bowl just for entertainment ? My heart weeps for these animals .
Wild orcas have never killed a human being. And the few "attacks" on people haven't been intentional. One guy got knocked down when an orca came up on the beach for a seal, and there was another instance of an orca going after a guy in a wetsuit. In all likelihood the whale mistook him for a seal. Neither of them died or were even injured.
I have to say very interesting video. So very impressive. I have been amazed with Orcas since I was a kid. I have movies and videos on Orcas. The best documentary I have seen was called Black Fish. Trying to in cage this very intelligent animal was the biggest mistake they have ever made. Then they tried to breed them with ones that were not of their kind or pod. Now we don't have a sea world with killer whales. Now it brings me to a very good move that is called Orca. If you have not seen it, I would suggest you see this movie. Black fish is also a must see. GOD bless HIS creation.
That was a fabulous presentation. I simultaneously love them and feel bad for their unfortunate prey, especially whales and dolphins which I also love. Nature is complex.

Your friend has been lying to you about the truth of who he really is. You think he's just some guy......he's actually Aquaman.
I’m crying at that response 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You're friend sounds awesome

I think these animals are amazing. So smart, friendly, and gentle. Unless you're a seal that is.
Orca is unique. look at them, they looks so cute, looks playfull but also "lethal weapons" of the ocean. Really amazing.
I've had several interactions with Orca while spending time onboard a vessel in New Zealand waters. They struck me as very curious and posed no threat to me at anytime.
Dia di ambil sewaktu kecip dirawat sampai besar, tidak mungkin disaat dia besar dibawa ke kolam
Yes! Release them!
Yea releas them pls i really want to see one in the sea of Australia
protect them from what?
Excellent documentary! I was convinced that the number of Orcas worldwide would largely exceed 50,000! Apparently, I was wrong! We, humans, should know more about the rich life and ecosystems of these magnificent and intelligent mammals so that we could also learn from them and further enrich our lives!
Okay, but learning to be a merciless killer, no!!!
Okay, but learning to be a merciless killer, no!!!
Yeah, the way they eat there should be a million of them.
Beautiful thank you for sharing! I pray I can experience this one day!
Each pod is family, just like a pride of lions. That shows caring for the whole not the one.
I love to see them. They are smart and family oriented. They communicate and are fantastic to observe!
The most beautiful creatures in the planet, I just love them.
Thank you for this amazing video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nothing compares to the magnificent Orca when it comes to strength and intelligence, what a sight to see. Very interesting and informative video✌
100% agree !!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Capt Nemo of the Nautilus, killed them on sight calling them the butchers of the sea. Lol
@@carl6352 Yes, you are correct, not just because he said it, but also because they are the butchers of the sea-- they make a Great White look nice.
@@karengarr8370 as long as you are calm they won't touch you. They will check you out with a nudge. The Pacific octopus are very curious also. They are monsters also.
I am sure a dive boat would love to take you out to meet them, at cost of about 2-3 hundred, gas is outrageous. Lol
I absolutely love seeing those Orcas on video 🥰😍
@Elephant seal extinct
Always been my favorite marine mammal. Beautiful, intelligent, fierce, top of the food chain. Love the Orca vs GWS videos I've seen. Makes it very clear who is the boss of the oceans. Thank you.
Right on
One of the most beautiful mammals on the planet and we need to protect there environment at all costs
One word. Beautiful.
Indeed
I love this!! :D
Thank you!
I saw a Documentary on Orca Killer Whales a few years ago. And the Orca has no equal at Sea. Not even the Great White Shark is a match for the Orca, amazing.

No more Orcas in captivity ever again .Let them be free .
What a MAJESTIC ANIMAL!!!!!!!!!
Brutal asasin
A magnificent animal that has earned to right to be protected and left alone by mankind.
This is the Lion of the sea. 🌊🦁👆
Best orca video, I've seen.
Appreciate that
When I was on a long liner in the Bering Sea , I got up close and personal with these guys. It was interesting to me that they didn't raid our lines until we fished past their diving depth. When we went deep they got 90%+ of every fish hooked. We could tell they were coming when the Porpoise 's would scatter
Beauty of the nature, beautiful animal ♥️
It really is!
No they’re not.
@@CosmicGodzilla2021 ahahaha, not for you Bruce..not at all
love ur channel!! i also rly love that u clarified that captivity for orcas causes stress and psychosis in their species. i was wondering if you'd address that
yall should do a video on saltwater crocodiles next :0
Thank you for that lovely comment. We address all animals as free-living beings no matter their classification.
And a Saltwater Crocodile vid is in the works. 😀
Wow pretty girl
Yes i agree to your next request for that salt crocs,i love to see also in video how crocs also live in saltwater the only crocs i know is living in swamp or river?
Most informative video on orcas I've yet to see bravo! My favorite animal on the planet. Highly intelligent, extremely powerful yet friendly to humans

qué belleza, muchas gracias, yo pienso que si hay bastantes estudios de orcas en escandinavia.
So many think a shark is top of the food chain. Orcas are THE badass dudes of the ocean. Bar none.
Problem is: when there are sharks, there's never an Orca around when you need one.
@CB a shark is no match for an Orca. The bite power of a great white shark is 4,500lbs psi.The bite power of an orca is 19,000lbs psi!
Love to watch these beautiful Orcas out In the ocean, where they belong. your information is greatly appreciated.
Glad you like them!

These whales are a matriarchal society. I was a boat in Puget Sound. We saw J pod, K pod and L pod. At the time there was 96 killers in the sound. We saw about 90 of the whales in one afternoon. Quite a thrill.
I remember that trip..

I'm very fascinated with these majestic creatures. So beautiful, agile, powerful and intelligent. I often watch the livestream from Rubbing Beach, and listen to them communicate with each other, very cool.
Where do you get arch that live stream at? Tysm in advance✨

Just search for Rubbing Beach, the vocals are very cool. Enjoy.
But we all know what minor details can do, like steven spielberg's jaws that is directly linked to us being more fearful of white sharks than e.g. hippos.
So that they kill whales is not frightening enough, they were called so long before Sea World and captivity
A Orca is the only national predator that will take on a Great White Shark.
But why is orca tougher than sharks are they better attackers than sharks you mean sharks can kill orcas
Can you tell me bro why orcas are more dangerous and powerfull than sharks can you explain ?

Seems to me Shakespeare did not know of the Orca when he wrote that Man was the Paragon of Nature.....watching this just spells it out that he was wrong......this Amazing Beast is what I would call Perfection !
Did anyone else think 5:03 sounded like a burp from devouring that penguin?
I've never felt an ounce of sympathy for those sea world trainers .
They're not the beast, they're the the beauties
Absolutely highly intelligent.
Orcas are sentient beings. We just scratched the surface in understanding these creatures.
My favorite sea animal hands down
An incredibly smart, powerful and dangerous marine animal!
A zasto je opasna?
The Orcas they are so majestically unique . Beautiful animals , but i for one believe that it is inhumane and selfish to have them swimming in a small fish bowl just for entertainment ?
My heart weeps for these animals .
Orca what a magnific animal!

Orcas are like the lions of the sea, brutal predators.
they're so intelligent , they never attack human in the wild.they understand that if they do. we gonna take them as a threat.

Orca, the Killer Whale - Smart and Intelligent.
Easily the 2nd most intelligent species on this planet. Amazing animals
What do you consider as number one…Not humans I hope..

They are terrifying. They can and will hunt anything. Pitiless, ruthless, efficient. No mercy. The perfect predator.
Cool video mate, once of the best!
Glad you enjoyed it
