I have actually really benefited from watching your videos. I was given a set of 150 prismacolor pencils for my birthday earlier this month and I was struggling really hard to make them work. Different papers would make them either glide colorlessly over the top or eat the core and turn it into mud on my page. Just being able to listen to you and have it nailed into my brain - light layers, Kat! Light!! I have managed to move past a pretty bad colouring block - thank you!

I really enjoyed this video. One of my colouring New Years resolution is to create a Swatch folder of all my pens and pencils. I really don't like when companies don't put names or numbers on their products.

Yeah, it makes it very frustrating. Some of these companies are going back and remanufacturing their products so they have that information. It's always nice when they listen to their consumers.

Just a suggestion...perhaps you could layout all your colors and number them before you start swatching. That would make this video go much quicker for the viewers. You do a really nice job with the actual coloring of the swatches. Nice consistency.

I always mark my non marked pencils the same way and I also use Jennifer’s swatch chart. I love her website I also swatch my gel pens the same way cause a sharpie or permanent marker will mark those as well. And for some reason I just love to swatch out pencils etc. I could go it all day lol

Hi Donna! I was recently gifted a set of gel pens with color names and numbers on them already! :-O It's AMAZING! (OfficeThink gel pens on Amazon - I think they're somewhere around the $20 mark.

So glad to have found you! When I first saw your coloring book (don't remember which video) and you said you had not used anything to blend I was gobsmacked because it was so beautiful. I am new to colored pencils although I painted with acrylics for 20 years, finally left them for watercolors because I am so messy and have discovered pencils are what I love (whether they are watercolored or wax-based). Since I find your videos so relaxing I look forward to when I actually start coloring! LOL

I like the idea of using a stencil to have a uniform swatch. For marking pencils, you might want to try a fine tip white paint marker. It will be easier to see on the dark colors. I also enjoy the tools found on Coloring Bliss.

    Hi.
I know that there are those who don't do color charts because it takes time away from actual coloring. They would prefer to just test the pencils on a piece of paper right before they color with them. I have heard this from a few people.
Me--I do color charts. I like to organize the colors in my particular rainbow from white to black. Then I give then numbers and do the color chart at the same time, just like you have here.
I'm glad you are showing it. Perhaps, it may encourage those who don't like to chart their pencils and other mediums, to give charting a try.
    Thanx,
    Mindy

Hi Mindy! That's VERY true... there are tons of people who dislike swatching. I think in the end it saves time, even though it's not the most fun activity. This way seems pretty quick, so I thought I'd share. :) Thank you!

The stencil idea? Genius! What an easy way of making a nice and neat color chart. Very cool idea. I have these pencils, and I like the way they color in my books. It's a very pretty variety of colors. When I had to sharpen the few I was using the most it was a breeze. I got a great point and no breakage using just my AC Moore brand manual sharpener. TFS :-)

Thanks, Laura! I'll be doing a lot better review after I've had the opportunity to use them a little more. They're going into my planner a bit this morning.

YES! It makes it go so much faster - and it's easier, too. I can do it while watching TV or something and it's not as tedious.

When my pencils don't have anything on them except the name, I will use pieces of paper and number in order and wrap them around the end of the pencils. I tried sharpie and Bic permanent markers and they just rub off.

I don’t think you can truly copyright charts, blank graph paper, etc. Just think if the first person to create the 4*4 or 5*5 graph paper claimed a copyright....... pretty ridiculous, when you think about it. Not exactly unique idea worthy of copyright.

Kind of weird to have no real browns.

    • @SimpleArtforAdults
      @SimpleArtforAdults  6 років тому +1

There are a couple browns in it, but they're lighter from what I can tell. This seems to be a common trend with a LOT of pencils lately.
