i’m getting the 72 set for my birthday (november 10) so i’m just binge-watching videos so i can start colouring with a bit of prior knowledge and help :)
Thank you for talking about the reality of "budget friendly" options, so many people think that cheaper in the beginning is better rather than SAVING up a little longer for the more cost effective in the long term. (for those who use the supplies regularly anyway)
I really enjoy your tutorials. You're very easy to listen to, very personable, very encouraging, very practical and considerate. Thank you for taking the time to share with us.
Hi, Carol! That's VERY sweet of you and I appreciate it more than you know. Thank you so very much for watching and taking the time to leave such a sweet comment.
I have not colored for very long but my step father has always used Prismacolor for his coloring books and recommended I get some rather than budget pencils since you can buy individual colors you use often. Thanks for the tips!
New colorist and subscriber here! Thanks for the excellent tutorial! I didn't know the learning curve was so steep and you have really helped lessen the incline! Thank you again!
Omg!!! I'm going to have to try your sharpening technique!!! I was taught to use a bare razor blade and it always worked well for me... but I'm definitely going to have to try this.
Hi Erin, I recently discovered your channel and I have to say I loved it!! I'm new to colouring and I find your videos very helpful!! Thanks!! I'm looking for a pencil case to storage my prismacolors and I wonder if you could share the link or model of yours so I could have a look, I was looking at the comments but didn't find it! Thanks!! Pam
I couldn’t agree more with you about the prismacolor pencils! I used crayola pencils I took from my son when I first began coloring. Then one magical day I was at Walmart (never thought I’d say that 🙄) and found for $15 the 24 pack of prismacolor premier pencils and I went for it. I have tried using my different brands of budget pencils since then but find I am not satisfied because I have to push so hard for rich color. I feel like I use less of my prism as because I use such little pressure. I then went to Hobby Lobby and started adding to my collection of colors. Finally I am proud to say I received the 150 prismacolor set for my birthday this year! However I found with just a few prismacolor pencils I could do much more then with my wide range of budget color pencils. Thank you so much! I enjoy your videos and learn a lot from you!
It's wonderful, isn't it, Heather? I almost gave up coloring altogether until I discovered my 24-pack of Prismacolor! Haha. I saved and bought the 150 myself, but I use them more than any other pencil - and I have a LOT. I'll eventually get around to doing more videos with those, too, but I'd rather focus on my pride and joy first.
I agree with you on the point of budget pencils v Prismas and the cost comparison. Like you say we have our favourite colours and they tend to get used more frequently. You can always buy the Prismas open stock which is cheaper in the long run. Great tutorial, thanks for the effort.
My daughter uses Prismacolor, watching this has made my mind up espesially since you can but 1 pencil that makes so much sense cause I always wear out 2 or 3 and have to use these tiny pencils that aren't very comfortable to color with.
I started off with the 24 count and the Prisma sharpener just to see if I would like it. I kinda knew that I would. I love'em. I would get the 72 pack next. I don't think that I would need the 150 box.
Love my prismacolors and I have not had the breakage issues others complain about🙂 I have given them to prismacolors to four other colorists- so happy for the explanation of the lower prices,
I bought my Prismas a few at a time at Michael's when they were buy one get one 1/2 off. I wanted to make sure the core was centered in the barrel. I have a little trouble with sharpening but nothing major. The price has come WAY down on the sets since I got mine so maybe I will spring for them in a few months. I want to see what I get for Christmas first. But I really do love how easily the color lays down. :-)
Hey Erin. 😊 I got my Prismas a couple years ago although my Polychromos are my favorites. I haven’t had a bit of trouble with my Prismas but I’m very careful with them. I totally agree on the open stock availability. I’ve got a TON of colored pencils from very budget friendly brands all the way up to very high end ones. It really makes it nice when you have that open stock option. It beats having to go buy another set to get just the one or two pencils you need. Anyway, I look forward to seeing the rest of your Prismacolor tutorial. 😊
I'm in the same boat! I have several brands from Rose-Art all the way up to some of the Polychromos and a couple Luminance (just to try them... to be fair, I was expecting more out of them). Buying pencils that don't come in open stock is hard these days! I panic when I can't replace my favorite colors.
Simple Art for Adults I have handful of Rose Art that belonged to my daughter when she was in grade school. A lot of them are stubs. I cherish them because they were hers (I lost her in an accident when she was 12) and think of her when I use them. They have names on them and I like that. I had a 55% off coupon for 2 days at AC Moore so I went to get the set of 50 Rose Art ( I HATE CRAZY ART) pencils which would have been $4.50. BUT - somebody - not me I promise - had spilled a box of them all over the place. The OCD in me started to gather them up and in doing so I noticed no names. Rose Art wasn't even printed on them. I passed - I need at least a number if not a name to keep track of what I am using on a page I have to come back to. I like my Marco Raffine's a lot and they are numbered which works. And thanks for letting me ramble on ;-). This (as always) was a great video!
I have the 150 set of Prismas and I use them some, but not a lot because they tend to aggravate me! I am looking forward to your tutorials so I can learn to use them better! My faves are the FC Polys and Marco Raffines.

Hi Seema! The one I have is here: www.amazon.com/YOUSHARES-160-Slots-Pencil-Case/dp/B01M4KK8U7/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1509191661&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=160+pencil+case&psc=1
I just ordered my first set (72) and your tips should come in very handy-thank you! I especially like the tip for gluing handles and cardboard on the trays.
It's a collection of tips I've seen around the web. I personally like my case, but that's just me! It took me a while to get used to my Prismas, but I'm so happy I stuck with it. I know some folks who just gave up on them. :(
Wow you were 15 minutes in before your first tip, I almost gave up but I am glad I stayed as the pencil sharpener in the right hand is definitely something I am going to try, I am still trying lots of different brands looking for a favourite (even found papermate colored pencils) but the argument for buying sets that you can get open stock for is certainly worth considering.
Yup. I'm long-winded and I don't think that'll ever change. :) We colorists are a chatty bunch sometimes. Glad you found some tips that got you thinking at the very least!
This was very informative and very helpful! Thank you for taking the time to inform us of all that you covered! I just bought the 150 set and I want to take care of them. Btw...I purchased them on Amazon for $73 and it came with the sharpener...eraser ...colorless blenders and a coloring book. I'm in love with these pencils. TFS😀
I just came upon your video #1 and learned so much about Prisma colored pencils. especially about sharpening them and sharpeners. I have been struggling with the latter and also broken cores. Do these pencils break when they get old?
My 72 set was $35 when I got it a couple of months ago. I wish I had waited for them to be cheaper. I really need a colorless blender though. I wish one had came in the set.
+Whitney Hensley $35 isn't a bad price. They fluctuate so it's hard to know when to buy... a lot like the stock market. Haha. Blender pencils are very affordable on Amazon! Maybe add one the next time you order something from there? Search though... I found 4/$5 on sale once and I still have 3. I don't use them much in coloring books, but I do sometimes.
Whitney Hensley when you do get one, be careful with the prismacolor blender. It darkens your image. You might want to try the Lyra or the Caran d'Ache :)
Opal Kiehm oh ok. Are those brands really expensive? I actually won an Amazon gift card so I ordered a Prisma colorless blender and a kum sharpener. Once my finances straighten out I will try some different ones. I'm in college so most of my money goes to text books which are so expensive it's stupid. Haha I love books but no book is worth $200 just to use it for 8 weeks.
Hi Debra. The series is recorded already and you can find all the episodes on my channel. We don't color the entire picture together, but we do learn about blending, layering, etc. Thank you!
I love my Prisma’s. I only buy sets that offer open stock. I also have the full sets of FC polychromos, Derwent Colorsoft, and the Blick Studio colored pencils...... I found for me, that the electric Wescott iPoint Orbit pencil sharpener has solved my broken lead problem. Now I’m not wasting anymore of the lead from the point breaking .
For some people, those sharpeners seem to work better. That's just not the case for me. I went through three electric sharpeners before I gave up on them. The cores of the pencils melt into the blades and it's virtually impossible to keep them clean. I think I just had bad luck!
just wanna add at to the topic of budget vs expensive pencils , ive noticed in general , anything that costs a bit more , usually ends up saving you money in the long run
I’ve been using staedtler noris colours that I hated at first because like you said were just so different but after I figured it out I totally understand what you were saying. So based on your recommendation I literally just ordered a 24 pack just to try them out
So glad I found these tutorials! This is going to be awesome! Just learning how to use Prismacolours, never used anything like them before. Im used to Polychromos for my art!
If you like using pencils, I would skip over the Scholars and put that money toward the artist-grade Premier. Otherwise, the Scholar line is also soft and creamy, but it's harder than the Premier line and not quite as pigmented. The colors seem to be the same with the exception of Violet. The Scholar violet is very light while the Premier violet is much darker. I don't know if I'll have time for a video review, but I'll try!
Wow Erin I totally loved and appreciate this video and all your help..your opinion on Prisma vs budget friendly colored pencils was extremely helpful and made so much sense..I love Prisma because it's the only brand I've found that is easier on my hurting hands, but now I love them even more..lol.. thanks sweetie 😉😍
Sadly my 150 set had one cracked color pencils like split down the middle and a lot of split tips around the wood... when I first open it I don't know if maybe the Amazon delivery driver was rough with my box
Hi SAFA! I have a 120 count box of Prismacolor pencils and they don't say Premier. I bought these years ago at a Hobby Lobby 40% coupon and JUST figured out how to keep the darn things from breaking (thank you internet)(thank you artnfly) and now I'm hooked on your videos and thought to ask if you knew if there's any difference.... Your videos are super helpful and I appreciate them. UPDATE NOW I understand!!!! nevermind!
There is nothing like the Prismas! Hope you're able to get your hands on them soon. Where do you live? Maybe I could recommend some other soft pencils for you?
Simple Art for Adults I live in Croatia, Europe. They are too expensive for me, on amazon.de they cost more than 250$. Don't get me wrong, I find my Polychromos amazing and nice - but with my rheumatoid arthritis I have some problems when trying to blend them and apply more pressure. I think Prismacolors would be great for me. I even asked some stores in Croatia if they will be getting them and they are interested in getting them because I am not the first person who asked for them. Maybe my dream will come true one day. Till then, I will be dreaming them.
Some background information on Prismacolor Premier colored pencil, these pencils were designed and made in Canada. These pencils are wax, not oil pencils. The original name was Berol Prismacolor pencils they were top quality pencils without the problems that they have today. These pencils were sold to the U.S. so now they are a U.S. pencil but they did not make them first. If you want the Canadian Berol Prismacolor pencils there are sellers that are selling used on eBay.ca. They have both English and French as in Canada both are the official languages in Canada.
That's what I was thinking lol.. I just got my first prismacolors yesterday the 72 set was $42 and change from Amazon.. I really wanted the 132 set but I just couldn't justify spending 90 something on colored pencils especially since I'm more of a gel pin and marker kinda of girl lol
Great tutorial Erin!!! I have learnt how to save Vids to come back to and this one is on the list!! Thanx for sharing your Pinterest account!! You are great!!! 👍👍 💗💗 🖍🖍
Enjoyed your video, you've got some really helpful tips and facts. I've only been using Prismacolor pencil for few weeks and I found using a solvent, I use zest it, amazing. It saves your pencils and your hands but also opens up so many possibilities even as an absolute beginner.
Hey, I am about to order my first set. But I can't decide between the 72 count or the 130 count. Is there really that many colors that are missing? Do you think that the 72 count is good for starting out
I think so, yes, but you have to think about how you usually do things. If you get the 72 and you really love them, are you willing to wait to get the rest, or will you need to have them right away? I think if you've never tried them, if you have a Blick or Hobby Lobby or something nearby, it might be worth your while to pick up a couple open stock pencils and give them a try. Then, you can make a better decision about how big you want your set to be. I jumped from 24 straight to 150 when I got the hang of them. There are MANY colors in the 132 that aren't in the 72, so I'd go with a set as big as your budget will allow - after you know you'll like them, though.
I agree with all that you have to say about PC's. I own 4 sets of the 150 and have about another 100 open stock. I also have got the 120 set of Faber Castell Poly Chromos. I find myself going back to the PC's more often than I thought I would. I also like my 72 set of Derwent Colorsoft. But the most unique set of pencils I own are the Tombow Irojiten 90 set. These pencils have the most unique shades and tones and tints I have ever seen, which is why I bought a second set. I am a very creative person and I have came up with several ideas on how to blend and use things found around the house for use with my colored pencils. For instance, regular Chapstick works great to blend with. I will try and make a tool before I go out and buy one. I made a really sturdy lightbox out of things I had around the house and from my computer shop. YUP... I have a colored pencil addiction..... I really like your channel. You give great advice.
That's an interesting tip, but I won't use any solvent other than odorless mineral spirits on my work. I've ruined images with oil and grease stains from other things, and it's just as easy for me to get a cheap bottle of OMS and use it. :)
Erin, I can't thank you enough for doing this type of video. I have been trying various types of coloring mediums and started with the 48 set of Prismacolors. Then I saw a good price on Amazon for the 150 set and made the investment. I binge watched this series and then took the plunge and actually put pencil to paper. O...M...G... I was SO pleased, even with my first attempt. Now I'm hooked!! Again, thanks for sharing your talent, experience, and info with us.
Hi,this is the most Brilliant reviews i've never seen, i totally agree with everythings you've say, and i,m Glad someone like you had decide to do this because it's easy for beeginers colorist to learn a tutorial and wan't to buy the same budget colored pencils the colorist love so much but when you calculated and think of the so great advices you gave well the answer is clear to me! Thank You so much for being these amazing tutorials, i love to learn that@s help me take the right decisions.
I noticed something on amazon.FR : the prismacolor's seller is named "Sanford"... but you said that Sanford isn't making these pencils anymore... is it false "advertisment" or something specific to amazon.fr ? Or is there still some old prisma on a.fr ?
It could be old Prismacolors or it could just be that the seller isn't aware that the manufacturer changed hands. I've seen it in the US too. Just check to see what the pencils look like. If they don't say Sanford on them, then they're made by Newell-Rubbermaid.
so, i only have 24 set of prisma color, and i was thinking of either paying for the 150 set or buying them individually as i need them, what would you recomend and where would you reccomend i buy them from?
I just bought a bundle package on Amazon it came with a hardcover Christmas color book, 48 prisms color premium set, prisma color sharpner, a scholar eraser which is a very nice one, a set of prismacolor less blender a pack of 2 all for 39.99. I can't wait to receive it. Does anyone know what happened to Erin? Also since I got the 48 set when I'm ready can I buy a set with the rest of them or do I have to start all over? I hope not. Can anyone answer my question since I don't think Erin is anywhere to be found.
Great idea to do these videos for us 😊 What about the page with the two goldfish and the lotus flowers on top of the pond? That one is really cute!! I have prisma from all generations including the ancient eagle turquoise and they are totally different now but I still like my modern 150 set!! They are easy on damaged hands for sure. I’m not as good with the newer softer Newells as I’d like to be so I’m looking forward to watching your ideas and tips on using them!! Thanks ❤️
I just bought a set of 72 of them they are oil base pencils they are harder than Prismacolour just look at the review they have nice colour. pencil. The only down about Prismacolour when sharpen they brake easy to fix this use X-Acto Model KS sharpener or use NIL-Tech Electric sharpener won't brake them easy.
Holbein are softer. Is it my imagination or are the later Prismacolor pencils not as soft, not as well made. My first set from a few years ago seem to be a lot better. I also have these pencil cases.
I just ordered my first Prismacolor Premier 72 set from Amazon.ca. They were $38.73. Drives me crazy that we pay more in Canada than the U.S.for a lot of things !! Don't know why that is but it hurts when you say you pay $24 for a set of 72. Any way, that said, I am really looking forward to getting them and trying them out. Love your tutorials!!
I know areas of Canada that have VAT or import tax costs which get passed on to you. Not sure if you are looking at Canadian dollars or US with your purchases, but exchange rate could play a role too. I agree though that the higher costs for things which is only a different location they are going to would cost more.
I explained this in the video but maybe I didn't do a very good job. I use these pencils all the time, and I buy them one at a time as I use up a color. They're $1-$2 individually, but I got my 72-set for only $24, which is crazy cheap. I saved myself a TON of money by going ahead and getting it. Colored pencils don't last forever. That's especially true of Prismacolor. I go through some colors pretty quickly.
When I lay my Prismacolor colour down it never looks like the you tube video almost waxy watercolour mine always looks grainy. Do you know why that might be? Sometimes my pencils lay down differently when I hear them.
It could be your pressure. It’s easy to mash down the tooth of the paper and end up with waxy blobs! I’m very new to coloring, and I’ve found if I do very light strokes in a single direction on the first layer, then keep laying down layer after layer with that same light stroke, I can get the wax to build gradually enough that it fills in the tooth of the paper.
When I first got my Prismacolor Premier I didn't have a handheld sharpener yet, put I had no other choice but to use the electric sharpener and I just about cried😫😫😫
I like Prismacolor pencils best and they blend well on smooth Bristol paper. I don't like the coloring book paper, but you do beautiful work in the coloring books. Just ignore negative comments, you are a peach. 🙂 tfs! I have had zero issues with breakage with my pencils since i bought electric and battery operated sharpeners. Thats a great price!
I've switched to a T'Gaal sharpener and I haven't had a single pencil break since I did. I just use the first setting and sharpen it like a golf pencil and it does a great job! I sharpen more frequently, but it's worth it, and I still get a fine enough point for details. Coloring book paper can be tough to work with sometimes, but some of it is an absolute dream! I've just gotten some Fabriano hot pressed watercolor paper and they absolutely glide over it. They blend together just like butter on that paper and it's so much fun!
Watching this for the third time. Just now paid attention to the hot glue tips which I will use as I keep my pencils in the 150 box. It should help with not spilling colors all over.
Maybe because I’m left handed that manual sharpeners don’t work well for me. At least 5% of the time I get wood incorporated into the point abs I have to trim it back with scissors and start again. I lost half of a goldenrod Verithin but less of the other five with manipulation. I haven’t found a best sharpening technique yet. I might go with a hand crank type, as those have traditionally been best. We might even have an *old school* sharpener around and even an electric sharpener. I probably won’t use the latter!
Thank you for explaining the budget pencil thing. It makes perfect sense. Your logic is spot on and because of this video I have decided to subscribe to your channel and start watching your other videos. It makes so much commonsense unfortunately common sense is no longer common. However you still got it. Thank you so very much for enlightening me now I am going to stop buying cheap pencilsAnd spend a little bit more money upfront that way I don’t have more pencils that I know what to do with. Currently I am sitting on two shoeboxes full of colored pencils that I may never use thanks budget companies for spending my money unwisely. And thank you once more for enlightening me. I hope you have yourself a fantastic rest of your day your newest subscriber.
I'm so glad to hear that! You're right, though - all those budget pencils end up costing more in the end, so it just makes sense to buy some pencils you can replace as you need to replace them. Don't get me wrong - I bought a replacement set of 72 anyway because they were on sale for $20 and I know I'll use them. Haha.
i’m getting the 72 set for my birthday (november 10) so i’m just binge-watching videos so i can start colouring with a bit of prior knowledge and help :)
Did you get them tho?😍
Omg lol, my birthday is November 10 too and I got the 72 pack for my birthday last year😂
im also getting the 72 set and they’re gonna be delivered on Monday, (it could be delayed due to COVID 19 tho)
I am buying the 132 set next week
Thank you for talking about the reality of "budget friendly" options, so many people think that cheaper in the beginning is better rather than SAVING up a little longer for the more cost effective in the long term. (for those who use the supplies regularly anyway)
Do you have a link to where I can find that same pencil case?
I’ve been looking, 2 years after your comment, but can’t find it anywhere. Love the color!
I got the 72 set for Christmas. Thank you for sharing how to care for them. I'm looking forward to the next episode.

Love this and love prisma's can't wait to color along in SG
I got the set of 150 set at Christmas from amazon for $50.00
Many people did! What a great buy!
Omg, lucky. I want it but its $89
Could you please tell me the name of the sharpener you use please?
They’re KUM Magnesium Blade. I found a set of 3 on Amazon for $6! Lovely.

i just ordered the 72 set and i’m so exiting! I can’t wait! Thank you for this fantastic tutorial❤️

Love my prismacolors and I have not had the breakage issues others complain about🙂 I have given them to prismacolors to four other colorists- so happy for the explanation of the lower prices,
Sorry for the mistakes in my previous post!
Yes! Prismacolor are my VERY favorite, though they do take some getting used to!
I bought my Prismas a few at a time at Michael's when they were buy one get one 1/2 off. I wanted to make sure the core was centered in the barrel. +Laura Seiden I agree. There's nothing white like a Prismacolor pencil. :)

Michele Johnson-Utter Keep watching...you will grow to love them!
My dream color pencils set😍😍😍 including the brutfuner too
I buy my Kum single hole sharpeners at Blick. And they have two spare blades on the side ( you can't see the spares in the photo).
I been wanting to organize my 72 set by color but I can’t seem to find a video or web link, is there any chance you could help me ? Thank you .
Which set and Sizes would you recommend for a beginner? I thought about getting either the 24 or 36 set to try out if i do like them or not cause where i live it is difficult to get them individually 😢
Loved your video. My pack of 72 pcs are on its way. Can you please share the link for the pouch?
Hi Seema! The one I have is here: www.amazon.com/YOUSHARES-160-Slots-Pencil-Case/dp/B01M4KK8U7/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1509191661&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=160+pencil+case&psc=1
Simple Art for Adults thank you
Thank you for including the link. :)
@@SimpleArtforAdults Thank you!!!
Prisms colored pencils are my favorite . Looking forward to learning with Erin. Virginia
Very helpful! What brand is the case you are using? I have had trouble finding one big enough for the 150 set, and yours looks perfect!!!
Look on Amazon. They have quite a few that hold 160 or more pencils
You found a fantastic price for the pencils . Are they on sale sometimes ?
This was very informative and very helpful! Thank you for taking the time to inform us of all that you covered! I just bought the 150 set and I want to take care of them. Btw...I purchased them on Amazon for $73 and it came with the sharpener...eraser ...colorless blenders and a coloring book. I'm in love with these pencils. TFS😀
I got the 72 set and love them
I like your logic. About this. I bought a lot of Crayola color pencils because my daughter always ran out of her reds.
Yup! I was forever running out of purples and greens, and buying all those sets was just as costly as buying an artist-grade set like this.
Can anyone tell me what the brand is for the pencil case that is shown in this video? Thanks
Practice blending using your white pencil til you get one. One of the best colorists I know has been known to do this...Dede Willingham.
Whitney Hensley when you do get one, be careful with the prismacolor blender. It darkens your image. You might want to try the Lyra or the Caran d'Ache :)
Judi Foster ok I will try. Thanks for the tip.
Hi, I would like the video of the Hummingbird picture, please. Thank you so much 😊
I'm doing the same thing about how long does it have to do with shading and what is shading when you're trying to color in your adult coloring books
just wanna add at to the topic of budget vs expensive pencils , ive noticed in general , anything that costs a bit more , usually ends up saving you money in the long run
I’ve been using staedtler noris colours that I hated at first because like you said were just so different but after I figured it out I totally understand what you were saying. So based on your recommendation I literally just ordered a 24 pack just to try them out
If you have a cracked core a good tip is to microwave them for a couple of seconds. It will heat the wax back together
So glad I found these tutorials! This is going to be awesome! Just learning how to use Prismacolours, never used anything like them before. Im used to Polychromos for my art!
Hi could u pls review the prisma scholars becuase im 13 and a beginner and im not ready to buy prisma colores yet until i try the scholars
I am really going to enjoy this series. Thank you!
I'm glad you liked it!
Thanks! The only tutorial for Prismacolours I could find 😅
I ordered pinta colored crayons from amazon 72 for 35.00 gonna try them but never heard of them. But said it is artist pencil..Good reviews.
Have you ever used the prismacolor Manuel color pencil sharpener. I got mine at staples
+Daryl Lynn I prefer the KUM or Maped sharpeners. J get more control and I think Thursday sharper longer.
Daryl Lynn ib
Great advice. So glad I found this. Thank you very much
Sadly my 150 set had one cracked color pencils like split down the middle and a lot of split tips around the wood... when I first open it I don't know if maybe the Amazon delivery driver was rough with my box
UPDATE NOW I understand!!!! nevermind!
I dream of this 150 set! They look amazing! I want them so bad, I could use them nicely because I have rheumatoid arthritis in my hands.
Tonka Bašnec I hope so!
Simple Art for Adults me too. :) thank you.
Love these pencils! Will watch the series, thank you! And just requested to join your group, wasn't aware you had one
In Brazil they cost RS 945,00 (150 set) I really want them but is like a mininum wage here in Brazil!! The dollar is so high and taxes too...:(
Yeah, I'm from south America too(Chile) and I had to pay like 120 usd for a 72 set :S
Ah the simpler times when a 72 set cost $25
I just paid 94$ at Michaels for that.....
Gabr Rodriguez damn..
That's what I was thinking lol.. I just got my first prismacolors yesterday the 72 set was $42 and change from Amazon.. I really wanted the 132 set but I just couldn't justify spending 90 something on colored pencils especially since I'm more of a gel pin and marker kinda of girl lol
@@gabrrodriguez8559 I bought the 132 set for 90 dollar
Great tutorial Erin!!! I have learnt how to save Vids to come back to and this one is on the list!!
Thanx for sharing your Pinterest account!! You are great!!! 👍👍 💗💗 🖍🖍
Love ❤️ your explanation of the products you show us..👍
Thank you, Sharon!
Thank you, Sylvie! :) Your comment means a lot!
You're so very welcome Erin xx
You're so very wecome Erin!
that's if you catch the sale. I havnt seen the 150 yet under a hundred...2020
I just purchased them for $89 yesterday on Amazon I’m in the US
I noticed something on amazon.FR : the prismacolor's seller is named "Sanford"... but you said that Sanford isn't making these pencils anymore... is it false "advertisment" or something specific to amazon.fr ? Or is there still some old prisma on a.fr ?
It could be old Prismacolors or it could just be that the seller isn't aware that the manufacturer changed hands. I've seen it in the US too. Just check to see what the pencils look like. If they don't say Sanford on them, then they're made by Newell-Rubbermaid.
so, i only have 24 set of prisma color, and i was thinking of either paying for the 150 set or buying them individually as i need them, what would you recomend and where would you reccomend i buy them from?
Is this group still active? I can not find it anywhere on fb...
There are was colored pencils and oil based. How did you decide you liked wax based over oil based?
+Daryl Lynn I like both, honestly. I think they're just two different things and sometimes I like one more than the other. Haha.
this is so true.. I LOVE prismacolors but I have lots of different sets I like. They are good for different things.
I just bought PrismaColor Premier pencils 36 set for $10.00 at A.C. Moore this past week.
they are currently 25.30 on amazon prime which is about 34 cents per pencil.
Secret garden is my absolute favorite coloring book I am now on my second one.
It's a lovely book!
Great idea to do these videos for us 😊
What about the page with the two goldfish and the lotus flowers on top of the pond? That one is really cute!!
I have prisma from all generations including the ancient eagle turquoise and they are totally different now but I still like my modern 150 set!! They are easy on damaged hands for sure. I’m not as good with the newer softer Newells as I’d like to be so I’m looking forward to watching your ideas and tips on using them!! Thanks ❤️
Well let's hope I can do them justice! And that picture is beautiful! I'll flag it too and give it a think.
Are Schpirerr Farben 72 colored pencils any good?
I just bought a set of 72 of them they are oil base pencils they are harder than Prismacolour just look at the review they have nice colour. pencil. The only down about Prismacolour when sharpen they brake easy to fix this use X-Acto Model KS sharpener or use NIL-Tech Electric sharpener won't brake them easy.
Thank you FS!!!
Hi just to tell you ~CA$39 = ~US$25
@@thecrap17yearsago35 i got 72 for 49$....
Reading this from 2024 and 72 now cost almost $120.
What's the point having 2set s one of 150 and another 72?
I explained this in the video but maybe I didn't do a very good job. I use these pencils all the time, and I buy them one at a time as I use up a color. They're $1-$2 individually, but I got my 72-set for only $24, which is crazy cheap. I saved myself a TON of money by going ahead and getting it.
Colored pencils don't last forever. That's especially true of Prismacolor. I go through some colors pretty quickly.
Simple Art for Adults thanks
When I lay my Prismacolor colour down it never looks like the you tube video almost waxy watercolour mine always looks grainy. Do you know why that might be? Sometimes my pencils lay down differently when I hear them.
It could be your pressure. It’s easy to mash down the tooth of the paper and end up with waxy blobs! I’m very new to coloring, and I’ve found if I do very light strokes in a single direction on the first layer, then keep laying down layer after layer with that same light stroke, I can get the wax to build gradually enough that it fills in the tooth of the paper.
does the 72 set have a colorless blender pencil
Sydney Remer No it does not. You have to buy it separately
I really enjoyed how on earth how can you get the giveaway why are you giving away I really want to know what it is
Great video, Erin! I think this is the 3rd time I watched it...time to move onto next video, me thinks! Thank You, I hope you are well
Glad you're enjoying it Stacey! Prismas are VERY different from most other pencils and I just decided to share what I've learned about them!
Thank you for the information.
I wish the 72 set was still $24 :(
Watching this for the third time. Just now paid attention to the hot glue tips which I will use as I keep my pencils in the 150 box. It should help with not spilling colors all over.
Yes! If you plan to keep your pencils in the box, it will definitely help. I prefer my zipper cases, but they can take up quite a bit of room.
Simple Art - Erin oh my gosh, I got surprise happy mail and in it was a pencil case. I’m so excited.
Thanks, very helpful.
Could you do a flip through of your completed pages of Ivy and the Inky Butterfly?
Sure! It may be later tonight or tomorrow but I'll see what I can do!
is tgaal pencil sharpener good for prisma? cause is what I got
It is! It's the only one I use on them now. Good choice!
Please add an Amazon Affiliate link! Would like to show my support when I purchase them.
+Mumford Fan Is there not one in the description? Did you expand it? I'm not at a computer until morning but I'll check then. ;) Thank you!
You're right! There wasn't one, sure enough. I've added it.
Haha.
Ty soooooo enjoyed - from Australia
I bought a second set of Prismacolor pencils because they were 65 cents a pencil.
65 cents a pencil??!? Where can you get them?? I can't find them anywhere in Ireland..
황금 막내 j.k. I got mine on amazon but they were 18 dollars for 2 boxes
