FYI people you can change your bulbs without removing the bumper I replace them often at the dealership you can easily access the bulb from the back side of the headlight itself

Yes you can but the bulb assembly cable causes a problem because its to close to the dust cover opening and the cable is stiff. Putting in the new bulb is extremely difficult again because of the stiff cable and its closeness to the edge of the opening. So I can understand why people take the headlight box out to get the bulb in and out. I have a Flex 2009 with HID bulb and I was working on the passenger side headlight. Also the bulb is a $120 for 1 bulb. Ford needs to have their a s s kicked twice.

Also, the video helped me - the part showing the headlight box and where he installs the light first then reconnects the cable, which looks difficult. Thanks for the video.

@@craigsmith-vj8qw you can actually get both driver and passenger hid bulbs on ebay for less than 20 I've bought multiple sets and they work so save your money and order a set from ebay

I put my hand in the round hole, twisted, pulled, unplugged, plugged new one in, slid it in twisted, recapped. I was done in 5 minutes.

150 bux is cheap. Audi wanted 254 bux for 1 OSRAM. I got a pair for 75 bux and changed them myself.
Keep up the good work. I have a 2010 with 162k

You don't have to take the bumper off. Just reach inside the access hole and pull out the bulb. I've done it on my 2011.

Same here, I upgraded my HID’s to leds and got them both changed from under the hood. Just reach behind the headlights and pull the dust cover off. I have a 2010 flex limited

Thanks for your comment. I had started to remove the bumper but went to look at the comments and decided to try your method, which worked!

Unfortunately my Flex has a dust cover with 4 Torx screws to protect the bulb. Apparently 3 of these screws can be reached in the engine compartment but the last one can be reached from the fender well or by removing the bumper and pulling out the entire assembly to get to these screws.
It’s never taken me more than 5-10 minutes to replace bulbs on my cars (depending on the make & model and the difficulty in reaching the bulb). But most of my cars have been ‘93-‘06 from Ford, Chevy, and Dodge. Imagine my surprise when I had to stop what I was doing and prepare for a more complicated process.

For those of you who claim to have changed your bulbs in five minutes, you have regular halogen bulbs. Those of us with HID bulbs have to use torx bits to remove the rear cover of the bulb housing.

I feel like I'm watching the hippie teacher from Beavis and Butthead tell me how to replace headlights on my Flex.

Good video. Would love to see a light output comparison. Mine feels like there not bright enough but don’t know if there OEM or aftermarket bulbs.

As of this comment, I've not driven at night yet. I choose the 5k bulbs. I'm not sure what color OEM was.

I may try and sneak a pick thru the air box and hopefully see the bulb head.

Use Coke or Pepsi on the rust with a brush - will oxide automatically and stop all future rusting [usually coat it twice a year but since its inside the bumper, just coat the whole length]

    Question?
    I have a 2011 flex ordered a headlight but it's a 2009😑
    You think it would fit?

I don't believe the MY matters -at least within the same generation- as much as if it's HID or Halogen bulbs.

At 13:30 we can see that the side marker light in the headlight assembly is out. How do I change that bulb?

The amber parking lights on the inside of each headlight?
Mine are not out, but those bulbs - from what I recall are simply reach behind and change them.

In a 2014 flex, you don’t have to do this. Just reach in and twist the Bulb out, unplug it and plug a new one in. Thank god! This looks awful to do
