    Egg eaters sometimes earn a stint in the dog crate at my house. They get a higher protein feed like grower or starter for a while. In my experience they quit when they get more protein in their diets.
    First I usually offer a dish of higher protein feed to the whole flock along with their regular layer pellet and additional oyster shell to see if they will get over it. If they don't stop they get separated.
    I also noticed they like to pick the eggs that get extra calcium lumps on them, maybe because they see the bumpy spots and get curious, then figure out eggs are tasty when they break them

      We have tried everything… I think they just have a habit of it now!

    Keep water aerated. You can buy plants that stay in the water for that-or you can use some sort of small fountain (solar powered) to keep the water moving-will prevent mosquitos from settling there too.

    • @TheNeuAdventure

      Love the fountain idea!

      The second link (above) is the one I purchased for around $100 but Ive never had any issue with it (always keep the pump itself covered in water) the pump is very small but very efficient.

    On the chicken put her in the pan. Problem solved. lol. If she is a good producer that would be hard. Might be easier to separate them. Naw not crazy at all on wanting to do both Farming and Rving. Love your famr and can wait to RV with you in Mayberry.

    Try the snails that are kept in fish tanks for keeping your stock tanks clean. They do breed quickly and are hard to kill.

    So cute. A suggestion for your chickens. When you are there to watch them let them out of your pen in the yard and garden every evening leaving the gate open to their pen and they will go back in themselves before dark. Those will be the most iron rich yellow-orange yolks you've ever seen. They will eat the bugs from your vegatable plant to help reduce or eliminate any need for insecticidesm

      @imaspacewoman 4 роки тому

      Also the water tank should be fine cleaned about twice a year. Just once in a while overfill it and let the water run over. take a rake to clean out any old hay from the donkeys mouths that may be in the water or in the bottom.. I sure wouldn't empty it very often.

    • @imaspacewoman
      @imaspacewoman 4 роки тому

      I love the country and would live nowhere else. I had 12 hens and used to love opening that gate to their run every evening as they would RUN out the door fast as they could. I lost all 12 hens to 3 stray dogs that dug under my pen and killed ALLLLL my hens in one night. Now that I'm not camping all the time anymore, its been years but I want to build another little chicken coop and run with just 4 hens so I won't get overrun with the eggs lol.

      Thanks so much for watching and commenting! We do let the chickens free range if we can be outside with them, but otherwise we have a lot of hawks and coyotes! So we can’t free range a lot or we would not have them anymore☺️

    We started using an automatic overflow valve in our water tank and between the animals drinking from it and the water always stirring it up as it refills we haven't had to clean the tank in four months.

    Enjoyed this interesting and informative video. Some great information. We are in the finishing process of building our chicken house and have order our chicks which will ship to us the first week of June. We want two miniature donkeys too.

    Hello! Fellow NC resident here. I’m so Interested in having a small hobby farm. Do you guys have any videos or suggestions on buying land in NC for having a hobby farm?

    • @TheNeuAdventure
      @TheNeuAdventure  4 роки тому +2

      Hi!! I haven’t done a video on that, but my biggest suggestion is to make sure any land you find will perk for a home and isn’t too rocky. If land seems to be cheaper in an area be suspicious... all the best on your hobby farm!

    you need to make a chicken feeder out of 4 inch pipe, cut a length for upright and use a 45 or 90 degree ell and cut another length for the feed to fall in, cut holes in the part that goes in the pen for them to eat out of, put a cap on top and a cover over the bottom to keep out rain and a cap on the end.

      Y’all need a donkey or two! So the fake eggs seem to be helping! Try those for yours, I had to put in three of them and keep moving them around, but so far I think she is getting bored of trying to crack them and getting nothing!

    you could try chlorine dioxide (not bleach) to keep the water clean maybe. it's beneficial for the animals too.

    For the egg eater chicken, I think at that point you should either eat the chicken or let her have her own small coop. She'd be a good breeder 'cause she doesn't eat her own eggs.

    The fish you have in the water tank aren’t big enough to eat much, put some large mouth Bass in there....problem solved. Then you have a fish fry twice a year, yeah now that’s my 2 cents.

    she is lacking a vitamin..... most time its protein... up the protein also get baby enfamil poly vi sol (NO IRON) and add to their water bucket for couple weeks then give it once a month.... it adds all the B vitamins. its completly safe for poultry... I use it for all my new hatchings. one full dropper to a quart of water....

    • @TheNeuAdventure
      @TheNeuAdventure  4 роки тому
