    Really do like the random start of the video. From I don't have a starting point to what colour is calling today. Than as you progress the more controlled you get as the chaos of the start of the bloom does really bloom as you move to your mind's eye concept. Then out of the (mist) comes land as the trees start to take shape and then I watch to the end where you started of with controlled "micro sprays" of randomness

    I just love when you do watercolour, it is my preferred medium and your style is totally my favourite to paint in, I really love intuitive painting where you don't know where it is going until you put some paint down and let it flow it is like therapy to both watch and paint myself. I would legit die for a pallet tour where you take us through your favourite watercolours and brands you use, colour mixes ect. because you always pick the most beautiful colours! I know you really love Daniel Smith so I recognize some of them but would love to know more!

    I finally tried this one. I’ve been nervous and then time got away from me. I kinda lost my nerve, so I was just like oh forget it I’m gonna try. I had soooo much fun! I created a pretty good scene I think. So when I get done I look down at my dog who is all white fur and she’s got little blue splatter dots all over her!! So funny. Best time I’ve had in awhile. 15:47 I like "mistakes" in watercolour because I think it's very forgiving - in the sense you can always tighten the painting to focus on what you want. If I wanted perfectly formed filled in lines I'd use alcohol marker. I want the bloom, texture and creativity to build. Where close up you see a bunch of splotches but as you pull away, there's an incredibly detailed face - or trees. :) The detail of such foggy trees with such wild movement of paint - that seems forgiving to me. It's not a mistake - its a feature!

    Wonderful intuitive work, it’s great to watch you play freely. If you want more colour movement, experiment with some (synthetic) ox gall. Even adding a bit to your water can create some unexpected results.

    • @PaintingwithJane
      @PaintingwithJane  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the tip! I've heard of it but never tried it. Mostly because, you know, the poor ox, lol. I didn't know there was a synthetic form of it. I'm for sure gonna find me some!☺️

    • @Kyomiibrown
      @Kyomiibrown 3 роки тому

      @@PaintingwithJane I agree about the ox. I use Qor’s synthetic version. Be aware it can cause a sheen if a lot is used, not that it’s a bad thing. I like to add it to my brush water but it can also be applied directly on dampened paper or paint. Dorland’s wax is good to put on a finished watercolour or gouache painting too if you want to make it highly water resistant. You can buff it up with a cloth after a couple of days to give a bit of a shine. It helps bring the colours out a little bit more. Of course it’s all personal choice but thought I would mention :) Happy painting Jane 😃

    I am getting SO frustrated, I have a 140lb paper that´s glued on all sides, and I can´t even get to the orange peel stage before my paper looks like a freaking roller-coaster! 🤬🤬 can´t barely even touch the paper with water 🤬 please tell me that I just have a paper that SUCKS....it is meant for watercolor though....I think I have to try out another paper....or giving it a try and wetting the backside (and let it dry, or am I supposed to leave it wet?) before I start to paint on it....
    When in doubt, splatter it out ;)
    Again, I love how yours turned out 💜
    Thank you for sharing this one :)

    • @PaintingwithJane
      @PaintingwithJane  3 роки тому +1

      Oh no! What brand/size is the paper? My 6x9 was a little bumpy, but it doesn't bother me. Maybe you're wetting it too much and then having to wait for the orange peel? Try using less water and building to orange peel rather than waiting for the paper to dry to orange peel. Also, don't get frustrated. Just keep trying. You're learning. If you don't get frustrated, eventually you'll learn what you need to and these things won't be issues anymore. I promise 💛

    • @CrixJoki
      @CrixJoki 3 роки тому

      @@PaintingwithJane about the same size as the one you had in this video, but it´s a low budget paper...pretty sure that it doesnt exist in US...or amazon and similar places...kind of a dollarstore type...but they do kinda work with acrylics, that´s why I got them in the first place...so...but I should probably go for a known brand at least if I´m gonna keep on trying with watercolors....
      My paper reacts the same way as soon as I touch the paper with a damp brush (no dripping or pooling when it touches the paper, it only takes a little while before it´s like semi dry to the touch) so I know it´s not too much water....(if I were to mist the paper, I have a REALLY fine mist, it buckles right away....which I find kinda weird since it´s supposed to be a watercolor paper and it´s 140lb....

    • @PaintingwithJane
      @PaintingwithJane  3 роки тому +1

      The quality of the paper is certainly something to consider. You don't have to buy expensive materials, but do get the best quality you can afford. Low quality materials can make it impossible to learn because they don't work the way they need to. I can guarantee that it's the paper and not you💛

    Nice watercolor, but why did you stop using acrylic paint. I always liked to see you use acrylics, because I had so much difficulty with them, and seeing you made me calm down and try harder with it.
    Water color is one of the hardest mediums known, and yes everyone who uses it say it is easy. I will just watch. Great video. The easiest medium to use is oil. It literally paints itself with its flexibility and ease of use. But the smell, is too much deal with.
