As a native spanish speaker, I don't think I could explain this topic as simple as you do. You help me to improve my english listening skills and this is an opportunity to understand better my own language.
Thanks and greetings from Mexico!!!
As a native speaker I'm here to improve my spanish too.
wow that is a language learning hack! im gonna start listening to spanish speakers teaching english! thanks gracias!
And me, I am french, and I can improve in both languages !!! Me encanta !!!
@@neaworld3960 shut up
Native speakers without special training are usually good for conversation but not for teaching grammar. This is because we can speak the language and apply the rules correctly without explicitly knowing them. That is different when you learn a language after puberty. Then you need explicit rules and only those people can pass on these explicit rules to another set of learners.
Thanks!
Thank you for watching l!!
This is the best class I ever attended to learn about the subjunctive in Spanish. Thanks a ton! No one ever explained the subjunctive this easy for me. Hats off to you! You doing a great job.
Thanks Joseph!!
Gracias!
I've ignored the subjunctive for as long as I could. I know I need to start understanding it, but every lesson I have tried, I. could. not. grasp. it.
This is the first time I have finally started to understand the subjunctive.
*Light bulb moment*
Excellent! So glad to hear that!
Muchas Gracias !
I had many doubts, how to use subjuntivo but this lesson has cleared my so many doubts. I am from India and a Yoga expert. I am learning Spanish to do ancient yoga practice amongst Spanish speakers This lesson is very helpful. Please make more videos. Thanks 🙏
That was the best way of explaining this topic,
Great. I speak 5 languages, and I can honestly say, I haven’t heard or seen anyone explaining it so clearly. Well done Professor
Hi
I have only been learning Spanish for 2 months, and I went on to utube and saw many videos, but your videos are brilliant, so easy to follow. I watch them every day!!! Thank you
Jeannette
Thank you! 😃
You Sir, are a genius. I was raised
Bilingually. Both my parents were from Puerto Rico and we lived in New York. Soy Nuyorriqueño.
When I was a kid I would go back-and-forth between English and Spanish. Even though I took Spanish classes in High School, I was never able to get a handle on the subjunctive. I’m a 68 year old man.
Me defiendo bastante en español, but it generally baffles me when it comes to the subjunctive. I do speak Spanish with my cousin every day.
He lived in Puerto Rico for a few years with his parents and went to Catholic University of Puerto Rico.. So whenever we speak Spanish he stays in Spanish and I devolve into speaking Spanglish. And that generally happens when I am confronted with the subjunctive. Your explanation of WEIRDO is brilliant. It’s the first time I’ve ever heard such a thorough explanation of what the thing is. Thank you
Pi
We didn’t need ur life story bru
I've been able to speak and understand passable Spanish up to the subjunctive level for 25 years until now. This legit will open up my conversations. Thank you!!!
Finally!! Someone explained this in a way I can understand. Thank you so much!!!
Glad it was helpful!
I fully came here because the subjunctive has defeated me, but I couldn't stop playing the intro, the way you said Worcestershire just had me in pieces hahahahaha (I'm British), so thank you. I can form the subjunctive in my sleep but knowing when to use it is the hardest. The examples help. Thankyou.
Glad you liked it! I have to laugh at myself.
Your big fan from Egypt.I was astonished when you said "ojalà"
We call it(inshaa allah )إنشاء الله
Or "Oh Allah"
Over the course of 18 minutes you've managed to make me, arguably a complete stranger to subjunctives, into someone who actually gets it.
Thank you for telling me this, that makes me so glad to hear!
To me, this has been the hardest tense to master =( But I wont give up, I will master this tense!
This is typically a challenge for people, but you CAN get it! Sounds like you have great determination.
subjunctive is a mood, not a tense
@@TheLanguageTutor the “subjunctive mode” you mean, maybe learners of Spanish as second language wouldn’t find it so hard if they were taught the subjunctive is a MODE -not a tense.
Dude same. This is why I’m here watching this video. We’ve talked about this so much in class 😭 It’s still not sticking.
+1000000. I’m struggling lol😂
you've made me really confident in learning subjunctives after this video, thanks a lot!
That's great to hear! It makes me really happy to know I could help you.
when I first started off I cannot speak Spanish but because of you right now I'm intermediate in Spanish I'm so happy to have you as a teacher thank you
You are so nice! Thank you amigo!
No wonder why instead of saying, " Ten un buen dia ", it's "Que tengas un buen dia. "
I always wondered this, because I was taught that forming commands is done generally by withdrawing the ending of the infinitive... " Ten " " Pon " "Ven "
Knowing this made me want to say ten un buen dia, to say have a good day...
But, in actuality I suppose that statement is in the subjunctive tense and thus must be said as, " Que tengas un buen dia " since it is really a wish of yours for what's to come; a request in a way.
IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!
I also watched a show that had a scene where a girl said, " No me toques " and I wondered why she said that instead of tocas since tocas is the tu form...
Now I understand it's because of the subjunctive. Holy cow it's very helpful to know this. Thank you for the vid!
Yo espero que HAGAS mas videos 😉🤓
I am so glad this helped! Sounds like you're doing really well!
Ten un buen dia = imperative.
Que tengas un buen dia = subjuntive.
I use both randomly
I had the same a-ha moment when I learned "que aproveche" or "que descanse" are sunjunctive hahaha.
oh wow, I wish I'd gotten this kind of explanation when I was learning French - I never thought of it as multiple subjects, just random types of conditions that trigger using it. This made it so much easier to think about. I won't be as intimidated learning the subjunctive in Spanish now!
So glad we were able to help make it less intimidating!
I started my Spanish journey two years ago with your Spanish for Beginners playlist. I finished that then moved on to Duolingo and other spanish youtube videos here and there. Now I'm watching telenovelas with Spanish subtitles and livestreams on Twitch. I'm far from fluent but I feel myself picking up more and more things and its very rewarding. Language learning is a great hobby that I recommend for everyone.
Anyway I never understood the subjunctive but your video makes it seem simple. I'm going watch the rest of your videos on it then look up your videos on other stuff I don't understand yet.
I just wanted to thank you for what you do. Your videos are awesome and you are a great teacher. I'm happy to see you are still making content and I wish you all the best. Paz y bendiciones a ti
I have been watching for 2 months, and I think I' m already going to speak spanish. Cause you are teaching a lot and I only need the speed to speak like a native speaker. Cause you are the best teacher and no other teacher can compete cause you teach everything we need to know about the subject on the episode😊
I watched this lesson 3 days in a row, getting more out of it each time. Thank you Danny.
The subjunctive has been my bane of learning Spanish, I knew the WEIRDO acronym but just couldn’t grasp the ideals. The ease at which you broke it down was nothing short of a moment of clarity for me. Thank you. God Bless you for these free videos and your time
You just made something click that I've been confused about basically since I first started learning. It never made sense to say for the english, "have a good day!" > "!que TENGAS un buen día!" NOW I GET IT because the "espero" is implied and it makes the tener subjunctive🤯🤯🤯
😌
This may be 4 years old, but Im so happy I found you. Subscribed ❤❤❤
Thanks
When subjunctive is part of your first language you just feel better❤️ great lesson as always ❤️
Thank you so much!
Sir I just wanted to thank you for helping me learn Spanish (still a lot to learn) . I just finished AIB Spanish series & was looking to learn more from you & came across your channel. thank you for doing this. 💪🇮🇳⚽😇
Im so glad you found my channel. I hope you've subscribed so that we can continue to build on what you've already learned. I also suggest starting at episode one just to review!
@@TheLanguageTutor sí señor 😇💪. Hacemos esto. Hope that's right.
i can see many of us haev been looking for him hehe.
Soy Filipina, Gracias a usted Profesor, Yo aprendi mucho en esta leccion.
After this lesson I have learned that it is indeed "not a big deal". Eloquently delivered. Muchísimo gracias
Thank you for the WEIRDO acronym. It is most helpful.
(I would give this video 3 thumbs up if I could.)
So kind of you to say! Glad it helped!
Soy española y considero que tu explicación de nuestro subjutivo es estupenda
I started learning Spanish a year ago on my own, with the help of your videos on the AIB Channel, and just now I found your channel and can't be more grateful! :)
Welcome to the Language Tutor family Kermina!
Wow! you explained this so well, I don't know why I had so much fear over learning the subjunctive mood. This is so simple its stupid now :-) Thank you.
I love to hear that! SOOO glad I could help!
This video opened a new portal for me! After seeing the conjugation over a period of time, I just couldn't take it anymore.😂 Gracias!
¡De nada!
Fantastic video. Might have to take a few sick days and watch all of your videos back to back!
We wont tell anyone!
THANKS FOR BEING SUCH AN AMAZING TEACHER FOR US ENGLISH SPEAKERS AND NATIVE SPANISH SPEAKERS...KUDOS TO YOU :):)
¡Muchas gracias amiga!
Thank you thank you! Im in a 9 month intensive spanish course right now and couldn't fully grasp this. You are truly so gifted in your ability to teach. THANK YOU!
Glad we could help Zoe!!
The best way to explain and clear the Spanish subjunctivo. Thanks!
Great lesson. I have been teaching subjunctive with WEIRDO for many years. I will definitely recommend your video to my students!
That’s wonderful! Thank you for sharing!
This is my first opportunity to check out one of your videos. Once the viewer gets to the point where the green writing starts popping up behind you to buttress your spoken points, it is outstanding.
Thank you so much Daniel!
I'm taking online Spanish college classes and you should get the credit for teaching me. muy bien!
The simplest, clearest video I've ever seen about subjuntivo. Thanks a lot :)
¡De nada!
Danke!
Thank you!!
I am teaching Spanish in South Korea. Your video is very helpful, Thank u~
Finally! Thx for your teaching style. I feel more comfortable with the subjunctive!
Glad it was helpful!
Muy bien Danny, buen video. Soy hablante de castellano y te cuento que la mayoría no suele tener ni idea de qué es el subjuntivo. Se aprende y se usa por lógica, por cómo suena. Saludos.
Yo soy uno de los que no tenía idea del subjuntivo, y es mi lengua materna. Jajaja
You always seem to put complex things into simple steps that work wonderfully
¡Muchas gracias amigo! I appreciate the kind words!
This has been really helpful! I've been avoiding this tense for a while now, but this video made it easy to understand :)
Glad to help!!
Thank you! You saved me a massive headache!
Glad it helped!
Thank you very much for your help, as a native Spanish speaker I was always so insecure about how to explain this. The rule of flipping the letters ("ar" verbs that use the "e" like "llegar→que llegue") is a very useful tool for intermediate students to at least recognize the Subjunctive in a text or sentence. Gracias!
@HW You want to make the "g" sound as in "gato". In order to do that you write "llegue", because "llege" would sound like yeh-heh
After many days i finally found an perfect explanation, thankyou very much. i love you profesor.
Glad we could help!!
You explained it so well!
Hats off to you, I understood it even though this is the first time I’ve heard of subjective mood.
I have a test tomorrow and this is a good starting point.
¡Muchas gracias!
This is one of the hardest things to get in Spanish.
Good lesson, opens a lot of doors, not only for speaking but for reading. Now its less confusing reading Spanish, muchas gracias el profesor.
.
Keep up the good work Wendell!
Muchas gracias or muchas gracias profesor. Typ only thanks avoid problems. I said because it songs bad.
Spanish is my first language (I'm Argentinian and we speak weirdly in here) and you explained it beautifully. Awesome lesson!
What do you mean weirdly?
You might speak weirdly because I'm Argentine and I speak Spanish clearly.
THE best explanation of subjunctive I've heard yet. Liked, subbed, I did it all. Thank you.
Thank you!!
Thank you so much I'm a fresh Spanish learner i've been trying to figure it out for a long time, Now not only can I understand it but I also can conjugate verbs by using the fliping method that u taught us Gracias mi maestro!!!!
Best explanation of the subjunctive I’ve seen so far. I can’t lie I avoid it like the plague but now I feel like I can see a safe landing zone of how to use it! Muchas gracias para este lección lo encontré muy útil 🙌 Now to run verb drills and practice!
Muchas gracias por esta leccion. Sorry por/ para. I am not teacher but i could say: por cause or reason. Para purpose. Thanks.
Bro, I've listened to a lot of people explaining the subjunctive, they way you just ran it down makes perfect sense. You are DA BOMB.COM

Yes the subjunctive is hard to grasp. It took a long time to finally master it in German. Now here I go again in Spanish. I thought it would be easier this time around but oh no way. But this is by far the best explanation I’ve yet come across in any language. All of Language Tutors instructional’s are excellent. Thank you!
I believe (for me) the best foreign language teachers approach it from a grammar stand point
Me encanta tus lecciones.. están bien pensados y fácil de seguir!
Found your explaining very easy to comprehend. Also, love how the background is just plain white. Thanks, Danny
Thank you!!

Un vídeo muy bueno, soy irlandés y llevo 11 años en España, la verdad lo de sustituir el "que" por "that" es la clave. Great job, keep up the good word, un abrazo
I love your teaching style! I learn so much from your videos
Thank you! I'm glad I can help you!
Thanks That was the last thing i needed to learn and now i can speak the LANGUAGE!!!
This video is amazing! This is the fastest I’ve ever understood a new tense! Thank you so much 😊 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I've understood your explanation very well. Thank you so much.

Great lesson! Thanks 👍
Dr, Danny Evans is in the top three Spanish teachers! His teaching method and manner is (pardon my French) "san pareil".
Thank you. I think I am beginning to understand the subjunctive which I have ignored! You make is seem so easy with your explanations
Good job! I just want to remind you the subjunctive is a mode which has tenses like the indicative. Many thanks.
Yes it is! You are correct!
I speak Spanish, but I don't know how to explain this subjunctive to my students. So your video is really helpful.
Gracias por la ayuda!! :^)
