This was a sleepy ominous P.F. song but N.W. brought their Arse kickers along and gave it more guts I'm awake now. Always love the dogs but if they happy running around i'm happy knowing that too.
I am a fan of Pink Floyd all my life (66 y old Dutch bloke) and seen them several times. This is the ultimate tribute from an exceptional band to an exceptional band. Nightwish I will see in Amsterdam in november.

I turned a life-long Pink Floyd fan (from Syd Barrett daze) into a Nightwish fan by letting him hear this. He made me play it twice more! My only complaint about this song is that it is too short! Marko used to regularly sing covers with Nightwish so the female singer (Tarja or Anette) could have a break - he sang Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Dio and...... plenty out there! Good job!

It's a fantastic tribute to Pink Floyd....! I actually enjoy this version of High Hopes more than the original. I love Emppu's solo...just so nice to hear Emppu show off a bit!
As a PF fan who saw the original played live on the Division Bell tour, I love this tribute. I know Nightwish has done other tributes. I think in the earlier concerts they would play a tribute song when Tarja took her mid concert break for a costume change. On more recent tours I think they a would play a piece of Celtic styled instrumental Nightwish music like "Last of the Wilds" when the singer takes a break. I don't think the current tour has a costume change break like before. Floor just removes her Costume Jacket for the second half of the show.
This is my go-to song when I don't know what Nightwish song to listen to. Have a look at Nightwish cover of "Waking in the air" it's a fantastic feeling to it.

I was very happy that you stated that it was a tribute to Pink Floyd because I think that's what it is a lot of people are saying that this isn't necessarily a cover song but a tribute to Pink Floyd in general. Great reaction this might be my favorite reaction that you guys have ever done to any song.
I too am a longtime Pink Floyd fan that has only discovered Nightwish in the past few years. I also saw Pink Floyd in 1988, in Dallas. Probably the best show I’ve ever been to. Hope I can see Nightwish someday, even without the great Marko Hietala. He is great. They actually did a lot of covers with Marko, live, during Tarja’s costume changes. This one, Ozzy’s Crazy Train, and Megadeth’s Symphony of Destruction were the most often used, but there are others too. They did many just once on their Nightwish cruise ship in 2015, including Pink Floyd’s Money (Marko and Troy acoustic.) High Hopes is easily their best cover in my opinion. He also recently won the Finnish version of the Masked Singer in 2020, and you can find some of those performances on UA-cam as well. Keep exploring Nightwish!
There are a real TOP band .. so much talent .. that's what you hear .. and live ... and now they have Floor❤ ... but we /I miss Marko ..greetings from Amsterdam
Dear Mrs. SueSue, your reaction made my day. I'm a Pink Floyd fan and this is a great tribute, a version Nightwished if that makes sense to you. Rock it as before, feel deep, and carry on.
Talking about Disney.. Tuomas did an album that's a tribute to the book "Life and times of Scrooge McDuck" Look up the song "A lifetime of adventure" as your first song from that album. Don Rosa is in the video too.
This is an amazing tribute from Nightwish to one of their inspirations, to Pink Floyd. They kept the spirit of the original, but gave it Nightwish style and result is this amazing piece. I love original one and I love this one, both are absolutely amazing.
floor did many covers also disney. we know the beatles off course. floor participated in a Dutch tv program in 2019 called beste zangers. not german but from the netherlands. some very beautiful. 6 well known or well talented singeers are on ibiza not competeing. and every week one of thr singers sits on the sofa nect to the presenter. the others will sing one of the songs of this vip or a song thAt means a lot to him/here. there are verdions of the whole program with subtitles by denise hofs. this to understand why the song was chosen by the performing artist. sometimes very moving and emotional stories. and off course in one of them floor is the one on the sofa and her songs are performed for her. find the title beste zangers 2019 and denise hofs combined in your search. you will like this very much i am sure about that.
Sue, your mouth was agape the whole time! I needed this...so.glad you loved it! Many covers... Marko and Troy do Locomotive Breath (choose the version that's not on a stage), Nightwish did Wild Child by WASP, with Floor they do an.incredible version.of Gary Moore's Over The Hills and Far Away (the video is full.of personal pix and behind the scenes video)...Tarja sang it 1st, but I just love the video, w Floor. You have a ton of comments...I hope the OG Army has more. I've never been so exhausted in my life...with 7 cats, so.this was a treat! Xoxo!
@@SueSueandthewolfman Lol...you're funny! I do get a nap at about 1:30 when the babies crash out. Goddess meant for me to do this, and I will find the strength! The kittens were under weight with eye infections but they are so much better...eating like champions! So lucky my big boys are well behaved, and are waiting patiently to meet the brood thru a baby gate in a few days. High Hopes, tho... when Marko really sings... he's just amazing! That show was esp intense bc they fired Tarja rt after they played! But her performances that night were stellar!
I was waiting for your reaction to this, and you didn't disappoint! The reactions on your face, SueSue, said it all. And I love your analagy about finding out two of your best friends know each other. Very apt. Like you said, this is a tribute song, and Nightwish didn't try to outdo the original, or change it up too much. They kept true to the original, but just added their secret sauce to it, and produced a performance worthy of Pink Floyd. Markko's vocals are stunning, with great breath contol, Jukka's drum fills are on point, and wee Emppu's solos are beautiful. That guy is such a talented guitarist. And, of course, we can't forget the genius who composed this tribute, Tuomas. He really nailed it on this one.
Very nice that you react on this one ❤ I watched excitement just like I have everytime. Nightwish gave a tribute, but darker, rougher, emotional. Drivin mostly by the fantastic drumming👌🏻 There is another very nice cover of Marco and Nightwish, Its a cover of Megadeth, the song Symphony of destruction, by Nightwish ❤️, I think it was in Montreal 2004 🍀🍀 And there is a cover of them from Ozzy Osborne, Crazy train, perhaps the Amsterdam 2002 recording is one of the best there is. The quality of this covers is not the best unfortunately. But fantastic interpretation and performance of them of this songs. 🌀❤️
Great reaction guys, love this song, an amazing tribute to the original. Marko has such an anazing voice, and empuu his guitar work in this song had such feeling. I would love to see u guys react to nightwish playing elvenjig/elvenpath live in bogota, im sure u will love it. Have a grear day.
BEST......................TRIBUTE.......................EVER.................... Have you two seen Pink Floyds last Ukraine song ???? Tuomas is at least is a Pink Floyd and Metallica fan and than sum. Sue don't be sorry for your young self coming beck because I see you become younger by the day bcause of Nightwish. Tuomas likes to play some videogames too and love their music. Such as Skyrim and The Witcher 3.
This tribute song to PF did not loose anything by being 'metalized' They have also done 'Over the hills and far away', and especially Floor's version are awesome - but I do prefer Gary Moore's version. But Floor has done some awesome covers back in her After Forever days 'Who wants to live forever' - Queen 'The evil that men do' - Iron Maiden 'Alone' - I-10 (famous by Heart) *** The only thing about the cover/tribute songs from Nightwish are, that the lyrics and the compositions are not made by Metal Mozart - he is unique!! Great reaction from you two🤘🤘🤘
Very different to the original, but as Eric Clark said when he reacted to it they captured the tone of the original perfectly. Since I first discovered this version a year ago I must have played it 1000 times. It's stellar!!! Another cover for you.... listen to Walking in the Air (live, with Tarja). This is from the British animation "The Snowman" and was originally sung by child soprano. It's also perfect. You'll notice the band are very young in this one... It's from before Marko was even in the band, when Sammy was the bassist.
It is so easy to be a NW and PF fan (as I have been decades), especially with this tribute. Following my harder taste of music, I find this one more appealing. BUT!!!! Everything depends on the mood of the day really. Greetings from a Finn in Norway 🇫🇮🇧🇻
It's difficult to determine who adds more passion to a song ... Marko or Floor. I've never been a Pink Floyd fan, too depressing for me, but learned to appreciate this song because of the Nightwish performance, and now both versions are in my playlist. Marko's emotion in his singing just sells it out - he leaves his heart on the stage! Glad to see you two enjoyed it - it's a killer!
Not really a cover but certainly a tribute to one of their influences. I love ‘covers’ as well but not note for note the same but in the band’s own style. This type of song was played while Tarja changed her costume during the show. Fun time spent with good people.
Over the Hills and Far Away by Gary Moore is a song that they did with Tarja and recently with Floor and back in 2013 Tarja had Floor come on stage to do a duet, all 3 are on you tube
Floor's version ua-cam.com/video/UZDJfFNnK-U/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Nightwish Tarja's version ua-cam.com/video/CwED4C5FJuo/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Nightwish Tarja n Floor version ua-cam.com/video/57WsNYItbSU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DEWEYJOVI Gary Moore's version ua-cam.com/video/7IocRCDWB5k/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MrGhostrider19
Great reaction guys, also one of my NW favorites, also speaking of good quality covers, did you know Floor & her previous band Afterforever did a cover of Queen's "Who wants to live forever"..? Sorry about the pun......
Hi guys, I was there. at that consert. They fired Tarja, the original singer while we were walking out of Hartwall Arena. That is not why Jukka is not smiling while performing that amazing guitar.
PF fan too, but this is not my favorite song of them, but Nightwish tribute is. They are just so good. I would love you to check out Markos sooloproject and the song The Voice Of My Father, the english version.
I've been waiting for you guys to do this one. I've been a Pink Floyd fan since my school days. They were the first band I saw live in 1970 when I was sixteen. I found Nightwish in 2019. I love this tribute song. Marko puts so much passion and emotion into it. Knowing the back story to this concert makes it a very poignant one, even for fans like me who weren't there from the beginning of the Nightwish journey. If you like covers or tributes, I can recommend Oceans of Slumber who do wonderful covers of The Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin" and Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir". They're a progressive/doom metal band with a female vocalist and one of my favourite bands.
Nightwish covered also Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth, Phantom with Tarja, Crazy Train (Ozzy Osbourne), Money by Pink Floyd (only one time during the Nightwish cruise 2015) and others... if there are footages of all, not sure. Elvenjig and Finlandia are covers, too
Hi. I agree with others suggesting NW covering Gary Moore, Megadeth(Live in Bucharest 2004 perhaps bec there Marco tells the story behind these covers)). If u can't wait until xmas, u can do Walking in the Air. Floor has amazing covers. NW guitarist Emppu's ex-band Brother Firetribe did Cheap Trick - Mighty Wings(which is now kinda present bec of the Top Gun 2). Marco's band Tarot covered Blue Öyster Cult - Veteran of Psychic Wars. Marco doesn't sing that one, but OMG Tuple Salmela does great work.
Not sure, but have you saw the Phantom of the Opera cover yet? If you haven't, that is amazing. Also there are "Over the hills and far away" cover and "Walking in the air" cover
I'm sure the army wouldn't mind if you further explored your love of covers by delving into the wonderful library being compiled by Floor. Start with Oblivion or Shallow.
New reactions please Walking in the air live with Tarja, Over the hills (Gary Moore) music video/ live with Tarja (this consert) and also with Floor (live with funny pics cut into the performance)
How about reacting to some of floor’s covers 🤔, or her previous band after forever did “ the evil that men do” or revamp where she smashes lady gagas bad romance . I’m loving your reactions and genuine love for the band 👍
I thought to myself, I'm going to watch SueSue when Marco does the choruses and at the end. I was not disappointed each time 😀 I've been a PF fan for almost 50 years and I prefer this to the original by a country mile. Whatever you do, avoid Nightwish covering Megadeth - even Nightwish can't transform that into something worth listening to, though they come close.
Hey, you should definitely check out Nightwish scaretale with Annette Olzen live show and live show with Floor Jansen in 2012 , almost like a Tim Burton movie song, awesome thanks requesting ❤️🔥😎
iam a little lazy to browse through all the comments so sorry if i reapeat some comment There are two further Nightwish covers i know of : Ozzy Osbornes Crazy Train (live from Mera Luna festival) its an old Video (and i mean camcorder) recording and not to shabby record wise, and then there is Over the hills an far away (Bob Dyllen?) with a very nice video of the bands more private moments on there Page direcly
The Pink Floyd version is more melancholy about days past. This version is more angst and loss. PF's might be from an older, more time has passed point of view. NW's is more immediate and fresh pain, which is appropriate for the circumstance of it being covered at this concert.
I hope so too, but he isn't coming back. For that to happen, the things that caused him to leave, would have to be resolved first. And that's not going to happen.
@@jessicakoster2543is there some info about why he left? was something published? i just hope he is doing OK, and that the choice he made was the right one for him.
@@atlantis315 he was unhappy with the way things are in the music industry. Certain parties taking unfair cuts and using the artists as workhorses. He's also chronically depressed, and the above mentioned caused him to have some really dark thoughts. This is what was in the open letter. I've also heard, but can't confirm, that Marko doesn't really likes to play big shows, he prefers the smaller, sweaty venues. I don't see the music industry changing anytime soon and Nightwish isn't going to play only small venues. From what I gather, he's doing much better, doing small projects. But, man, do I miss him.
@@atlantis315 he suffers from chronic depression. Before he announced his retirement from Nightwish his health situation got worse and he even had to leave the 2020 Raskasta Joulua Christmas tour midway because of it.
There are a few covers that I really like, not by Nightwish but in general. John Lennon's Imagine by A Perfect Circle. Boney M's Daddy Cool by Placebo.
I Don’t think I ever have heard or seen David Gilmour do two hand tapping like Empu do here. For Pink Floyd fans I recommend a cover band named Brit Floyd. Their performance is close to the real thing. If they have a concert near you go and see them.

Xoxo!
Try to rest Amy! If at all possible lol 😂💜
I love this version of HH and as others have said, I listen to this version as a first class PF citizen. I am glad you two got to it.
Very nice that you react on this one ❤ I watched excitement just like I have everytime.
Nightwish gave a tribute, but darker, rougher, emotional. Drivin mostly by the fantastic drumming👌🏻
There is another very nice cover of Marco and Nightwish,
Its a cover of Megadeth, the song Symphony of destruction, by Nightwish ❤️, I think it was in Montreal 2004 🍀🍀
And there is a cover of them from Ozzy Osborne, Crazy train, perhaps the Amsterdam 2002 recording is one of the best there is.
This is such an awesome performance.
This tribute song to PF did not loose anything by being 'metalized'
They have also done 'Over the hills and far away', and especially Floor's version are awesome - but I do prefer Gary Moore's version.
But Floor has done some awesome covers back in her After Forever days
'Who wants to live forever' - Queen
'The evil that men do' - Iron Maiden
'Alone' - I-10 (famous by Heart)

The only thing about the cover/tribute songs from Nightwish are, that the lyrics and the compositions are not made by Metal Mozart - he is unique!!
Greetings from a Finn in Norway

agree! - Suesue
Floor covers Heart ALONE and its amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An absolutely fantastic cover-track. It could not be have done much better 🙂
So glad you finally did this!!!!!
Told you it was coming!! 😂
@@SueSueandthewolfman Yes you did. Knew you would like it!!
Not really a cover but certainly a tribute to one of their influences. I love ‘covers’ as well but not note for note the same but in the band’s own style. This type of song was played while Tarja changed her costume during the show. Fun time spent with good people.
WOWWW indeed!!!
PF and NW, the best bands ever in symphonic metal/ rock history, same level as Bach/ Mozart/ Beethoven in their days.
Over the Hills and Far Away by Gary Moore is a song that they did with Tarja and recently with Floor and back in 2013 Tarja had Floor come on stage to do a duet, all 3 are on you tube
also if you do Last Ride of the Day it has to be Wacken it's the shows closer
Floor's version ua-cam.com/video/UZDJfFNnK-U/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Nightwish
Tarja's version ua-cam.com/video/CwED4C5FJuo/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Nightwish
Tarja n Floor version ua-cam.com/video/57WsNYItbSU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DEWEYJOVI
Gary Moore's version ua-cam.com/video/7IocRCDWB5k/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MrGhostrider19
Great reaction guys, also one of my NW favorites, also speaking of good quality covers, did you know Floor & her previous band
Afterforever did a cover of Queen's "Who wants to live forever"..? Sorry about the pun......
Hi guys, I was there. at that consert. They fired Tarja, the original singer while we were walking out of Hartwall Arena. That is not why Jukka is not smiling while performing that amazing guitar.
PF fan too, but this is not my favorite song of them, but Nightwish tribute is. They are just so good. I would love you to check out Markos sooloproject and the song The Voice Of My Father, the english version.
Your commentators are absolutely correct, not so much a cover, a tribute perhaps.
Brutal!!
The PF original feels like melancholy to me. NW tribute is anguish.
I don't care what anyone says, this song is theirs now.
Even the lighting crew paying homage to PF.
Check out Floor's cover/tribute to Queen. She sings Who Wants to Live Forever
Try "Over The Hills And Far Away".
Gary Moore cover. It has some cool backstage/personal photos. If you haven't done it yet.
Nightwish covered also Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth, Phantom with Tarja, Crazy Train (Ozzy Osbourne), Money by Pink Floyd (only one time during the Nightwish cruise 2015) and others... if there are footages of all, not sure. Elvenjig and Finlandia are covers, too
Elvenjig is a Troy song I believe.
🇬🇧 Norfolk with you guys I know this will go down well even with pink floyd fans
Make sure you watch the live version of Walking in the air
I'm surprised no one has suggested The Phantom of the Opera yet.
I'm sure the army wouldn't mind if you further explored your love of covers by delving into the wonderful library being compiled by Floor. Start with Oblivion or Shallow.
You should do a reaction of Floor Jansens cover of Alone by Heart, amazing...
New reactions please
Walking in the air live with Tarja,
Over the hills (Gary Moore) music video/ live with Tarja (this consert) and also with Floor (live with funny pics cut into the performance)
👍👍👍😍😍😍😍😍😍
How about reacting to some of floor’s covers 🤔, or her previous band after forever did “ the evil that men do” or revamp where she smashes lady gagas bad romance . I’m loving your reactions and genuine love for the band 👍
Marko ... war bigs live 🤘
I thought to myself, I'm going to watch SueSue when Marco does the choruses and at the end.
I was not disappointed each time 😀
I've been a PF fan for almost 50 years and I prefer this to the original by a country mile.
Whatever you do, avoid Nightwish covering Megadeth - even Nightwish can't transform that into something worth listening to, though they come close.
thanks so much! HE mesmerized me! - Suesue
If you like black sabbath , Marco's Band does War Pigs live and " The All Hietla Trio " does a Black Sabbath Tribute ....
Hey, you should definitely check out Nightwish scaretale with Annette Olzen live show and live show with Floor Jansen in 2012 , almost like a Tim Burton movie song, awesome thanks requesting ❤️🔥😎
I like this one better than Pink Floyd but yes that's because I'm an NW fan.
iam a little lazy to browse through all the comments so sorry if i reapeat some comment
There are two further Nightwish covers i know of : Ozzy Osbornes Crazy Train (live from Mera Luna festival) its an old Video (and i mean camcorder) recording and not to shabby record wise, and then there is Over the hills an far away (Bob Dyllen?) with a very nice video of the bands more private moments on there Page direcly
The Pink Floyd version is more melancholy about days past. This version is more angst and loss. PF's might be from an older, more time has passed point of view. NW's is more immediate and fresh pain, which is appropriate for the circumstance of it being covered at this concert.
Really too bad that Marko has left Nightwish. I hope he returns quite soon.
Great tribute this song 🔥❤️ You may wanna check out their ” Last Ride of the Day” if so, watch Masters of Rock-version( not Wacken), in that you can see amazing crowd 💥❤️
