Yeah, its as if people think designs just pop out of thin air. They can very much be sitting on designs for a year or more. Just look at that image of 8 leaked models for Genshin containing Shenhe, Kokomi, Yaoyao, etc.
It has probably existed for a while. One of the new skins _(I think Alpha's skin)_ has a clear resemblance to her concept art design.

yea. having been a player of both games, i love both. if theres a good waifu, its a goof waifu. in PGR, the CN server however is ~1 year ahead than the global servers so for us, whenever they came up with a new character (except skins), it most likely was released over a year aho already

its completely unrelated but well, in the smaller communities like for example, im writing a novel and i ask if i can use some of those illustrations they have. they end up with the same reply of go ahead because they too dont know the original one
Because Hoyo fans have never interacted, watched, or played someone that wasn't a Hoyo game, so they think everything is a reference to that, when in reality Hoyoverse just takes huge inspiration from a lot of media.
But of course when a good chunk of your fanbase is 12-16, a lot of them lack the capacity to understand that and just think everything copies Hoyoverse 🙄. This is why I don't like saying I'm a HSR player.
