I had my 05 GX tuned by Phil a couple of weeks ago and the difference is amazing. No lag on the throttle anymore and going uphill is not such a struggle. Highly recommend.
Been waiting for this. I want to be able to self tune- is VFtuner the only way really? Does he have access to transmission parameters? Or more just changes ECM which downstream changes trans response.
I don't know anything about the technical side of the tune. I only received the tune from him. He said it's his own tune. He took months to get the tune where he wants it.

The retune changes the shift routines, the shift limits, and the transmission torque tables within the computer. This eliminates multiple redundant tables, allowing the ECU to follow a single set of tables in determining which gear to shift to. This makes the transmission act much more like a traditional automatic transmission, and shift the way we would expect it to. Finally, vF Tuner modifies the 4D control and compensation tables, and the multiple throttle tables and torque converter locking control tables to further enhance shifting and transmission control.”

Pedal commander only does the pedal. It’s not a tuner. Tunes are the only way to go

So with 33s you don’t have to regear at all? I have an 03 GX. I’m about to put 33s and a 3 inch lift.

I love it. Doesn't feel sluggish anymore. It cruises up hill so smooth now. I can't drive my GX without it anymore aha.
Phil came up to Seattle and tuned a bunch of GX470’s including my 2008 V8 4runner, I highly recommend this tune, it’s an amazing improvement.
