Casual playing dad here, just hit 45 with sorc since season start. Hopefully the devs don't think that Don's progress is normal lol. It will take another month for me to get my character to this point in the video. This is a goal for my character this season. So hopefully they don't nerf it.

I'm having a blast playing this on Hardcore, but I'm too scared to drop Vyr's Mastery even though I know it would be a huge QOL and DPS improvement. Hopefully I can get it ironed out but the resist penalty really hurts when you first enter the higher World Tiers on Hardcore nowadays before you have upgrade armor and life on your gear. edit: I'll also add that I prefer Hemomancy to Undying in a lot of cases. It also heals you based on the number of enemies hit x 1% max HP, but the thing I like about it is that it can tag mobs offscreen and get them heading in your path to make it easier to clear out areas. It's especially effective in Helltides and Vamp zone, and the phys damage on it's own is enough to one-shot weak enemies like bats. Give it a try!
Trust me, I play hardcore. You don't need Vyr's. You don't even need his paragon board (I use a hybrid between his build and Maxroll's board). I absolutely annihilated Lilith at 100, it wasn't even a challenge.
You do not mention this but metamorphosis is best at lv1 so that you can get the unstoppable more frequently in-between dashes granting more mana from Tibault's Will. Otherwise awesome build!
It's a trade-off with metamorphosis you get more unstoppable so there's more procs for the resource generation plus you can use the oculus. With teleport enchant your evade pulls and stuns and you generate barrier with it plus you have space for another vampiric power. After trying to make both setups work my conclusion is the teleport enchant with no metamorphosis is better for speed 100s.
The paragon board on the video shows Static Surge on the third board while the one on the link it's on the fourth... so does this affects something of just takes more time to reach Static Surge? I'm lvl 70
I’m currently running this build but I feel super squishy in higher tier nightmares like I’m getting one tapped a lot my affix’s could be better but no way they affect my build that hard right
I haven't seen anyone addressing this yet, I am running a very similar setup and what confuses me about this specific build is that you are getting cooldown reduction on all abilities everytime you dodge. There is no tooltip suggesting this should be the case, I am thinking this is a bug with Metamorphosis interacting with Oculus and pushing the CD for dodge to all abilities because it seems to be anywhere from .8 - 1 sec of CR per dodge.
Is the +% damage on Oculus multiplicative now? (separate damage bucket) This wasn't the case in earlier seasons and makes the Oculus quite a bit better. Otherwise I don't see a reason to run it over a good 925 weapon other than for speed farming

I was not getting the rotation orb aspect for a long time. Then I swapped to all out frost build and within the first rare drops I got two of them, and swapped back. I believe Sorcerer has built in drop rates specific to the build style you are not playing. Play fire you either get frost or lightning drops. Irritating. But since I was playing Sorc last season I figured this out.

written guide is always more up to date, losing mastery skill dmg doesnt really mean much in this game because it all just goes into the same soup of additive multipliers@@ridakaili479
Any tips for the latest patch with that new sorc ring? Infection can give poison damage which stacks elemental, so some potential there. Would need to chop a ring tho
Imo the best variant is teleport enchant. You get a lot more uptime on barrier with that variant which is both more defensive and means your damage multipliers are active more often.
@@alexnawrot8464 You replace fire bolt enchant with teleport enchant and drop metamorphosis. Drop occulous for some other aspect there. There's a bunch of other changes as a result. But it speed farms T100 better than other variants IMO because the barrier uptime is nearly 100% and basically any key is doable. Nick Tew did a video on it.

I have heard that Esu's key passive is currently bugged and is applying damage increase to electric as well as fire. On the training dummy my damage seemed to go up with it (while vyr's is bugged and does nothing) But between esu's working on electric and the aspect giving 50% attack speed with esu's active, have you tried adding this to the build?

Is occulus still going to be bis after the next patch? Fixed an issue where using the Metamorphosis Blood Seal while having Oculus equipped would result in Teleport evade charges not renewing properly.

Hello Don and thank you very much for this build. I tried the maxroll build of ball lightning and that was not for me. This build is so much fun! Question for you if you would to answer, is flickerstep a good option for boots instead of using binding embers?
So part of the reason we use regular boots here is for the 1.2 seconds of cooldown reduction on our evade for every attack. Flickerstep is only good if you want to ultimate constantly
The reason for this buff is that the devs wanted to clarify the dps of ball lightning. The number was supposed so represent the damage per second, not per zap. It's confirmed that they won't fix oculus and ball lightning. Even the rogue bug seems to stay which is actualy kinda insane but I don't judge.
@@DonTheCrown The devs removed the proc rate of ball lightning from the tooltip and forgot to adjust the numbers correctly. Usualy attack speed reduced the dmg for ball lightning (god knows why), that was fixed this season by removing atk speed entirely from the calcuations and someone at Blizzard isn't good at math.
hello. my items are not yet optimized, and still a little weak... even so I can do good damage. I'm adapting the build with basic attack, passive fireball and electric ball all at maximum level. And I have absurd area damage, I just need to improve my mana recovery.
@@DonTheCrown This is a repost as my original reply seemed to disappear: I did watch your video but your formula doesn't say anything about the additive damage caps that were placed on crit and vuln damage as shown here: ua-cam.com/video/GNDN2Ql_x0E/v-deo.html. I tested this out and just by removing my lvl 21 destruction glyph I lost about 50% of my damage. Since with the glyph I have 164/300% vuln damage and without I have 30/95%, it does indeed seem like they have implemented the cap. Given that there are several videos on the same build and all seem to be criting for 10x my damage, it appears as though I am playing an alternate game version.
It gives mana on use, gives you more damage thanks to conjuration passive AND it makes all your other CDs faster, oh and easy boss vuln but that's not super important this season
I thought it’s perfect because of the +DMG . But is not easy to get the requirement, we only Immobilize them through Aspect of Binding Embers. I will play with the Build maybe I find a way to play with it. Thx for the amazing Build.

No. Prodigy is getting activated a lot. Overflowing Energy keynode will provide you with so much cooldown reduction, you can spam defensive skills non-stop. And you also gain mana through Chain Lightning (Static Surge legendary paragon node) and Crackling Energy, to make up for the moments when you want to hold off on Teleport or Flame Shield. Umbral is not efficient against bosses, because it only activates on a FULL stagger bar.
i really wish the metamorphosis evade with the oculus still applied the barrier, allowing for lazy unkillable gameplay, and making it more viable for pvp
@@DonTheCrown It definitely would be, as it stands, you can set it up to be able to teleport 3-4-5 times per second in the fields and be realistically impossible to be killed or even hit at all. But when I saw we do not receive the barrier, ( and assuming the dmg reduction aswell ), i was so bummed lol. There is an update to the metamorphosis and oculus in the next patch that im wondering if that will actually change it, but we shall see

I really hope this build doesn't get nerfed, I want to do EVERYTHING with it. Reach level 100 on Hardcore, Kill Lilith, Reach level 100 on Softcore, Kill everything, clear nm 100 etc. There are those like me that don't have a lot of time to play and this build is perfect

I've only got one ball lighting aspect while leveling (around 32) and it was lowest value. I am 80 now and have not seen another. They really need to make every aspect available in the codex.
I’ve gotten a bunch. Just make sure you save at least one and don’t just be putting them on every new weapon you get that is a minor upgrade. Wait till you have an end game to put it in
Just a hesds up, the written guide jewelry gems are not set. Also in the vid ur talking about occulus wand but its not set as best in slot for the written build. Maybe its intentional but thought i mention it.
there is a sub-section for the oculus because its kinda 'even further beyond' level of power. also jewelry gems are going to vary depending on your resists

If you're struggling with normal enemies control can help but accelerating also works on bosses and not only helps you cast faster but also makes the balls tick faster. Eventually you have so much mana especially during ult that more cast speed is really insane
Ball lightning is a very fun build. But if u focus only on dmg output, you will clear the content very fast, and you will get bored. My ball build tend towards tank build (dmg reduction), and i found it more fun and enjoyful. Nm tier100 ballista need 2 hits to kill me. Dmg wise, not as strong.. but defensive wise, its strong.. So yah, try the Tanky Balls light build. It doesnt clear content as fast, but it still do the job well.
I will have to respec a bit to try this one. I don't do near the damage as some folks i see with this build so maybe it is user error or i have something wrong. I am at level 72 but still i see people smoking varshan on t4 at like 75-76 and it took me a while to beat him. Seems i don't have the number of ball lightning around my character like most do.

@marksmanman96 recharge aspect was 100% the ticket. I have like 8-10 ball lightning around me when i let unstable currents go. Pit that on, cast unstable currents and then when you do spam ball lightning on your bar plus being level 90+ really helps because of the paragon points
can someone help me out here, I am getting so irritated at this. I have tried to fight most of the new bosses and keep getting absolutely obliterated by them. i have all of the items in the build, but it feels like I am doing something wrong because I get 1 shot by random stuff.

It's multiplicative, not additive Tho. And if you pick non phys damage nodes around all the boards, I get a multiplicative x23% damage

I get it now. he's not using the extra teleport evades to pull. just to proc the unstoppable.
yeah oculus + boots = infinite evade | rainment = teleport vacuums and stuns everyone so we dont need nova

after a certain point you kill so fast that reducing travel time is more impactful to your overall clear speed instead of increasing damage

I've been playing chain lightning since day 1 and at level 80 I have 6+ gravitational aspects. It's random.

What is the point of using oculus if you’re not getting the effect of the teleport enchant due to metamorphosis?
Infinite evades, my attacks are super fast and two ball lightnings or any skill restore my evade CD so I'm blasting

Harlequin works fine. I use Embers for 'real' cotent and ghostwalker for zooming

It's confirmed that they won't fix oculus and ball lightning. Even the rogue bug seems to stay which is actualy kinda insane but I don't judge.

@@DonTheCrown The devs removed the proc rate of ball lightning from the tooltip and forgot to adjust the numbers correctly. Usualy attack speed reduced the dmg for ball lightning (god knows why), that was fixed this season by removing atk speed entirely from the calcuations and someone at Blizzard isn't good at math.
hello. my items are not yet optimized, and still a little weak... even so I can do good damage. I'm adapting the build with basic attack, passive fireball and electric ball all at maximum level. And I have absurd area damage, I just need to improve my mana recovery.

Amazing, you managed to circumvent the 150% additive.crit damage cap as well as the 200% vuln cap. How was that possible?
thats not what changed about the dmg formula at all, check my "i lost 90% of my dmg" video for how the new calcs work

I tested this out and just by removing my lvl 21 destruction glyph I lost about 50% of my damage. Since with the glyph I have 164/300% vuln damage and without I have 30/95%, it does indeed seem like they have implemented the cap. Given that there are several videos on the same build and all seem to be criting for 10x my damage, it appears as though I am playing an alternate game version.

It gives mana on use, gives you more damage thanks to conjuration passive AND it makes all your other CDs faster, oh and easy boss vuln but that's not super important this season

I thought it’s perfect because of the +DMG . But is not easy to get the requirement, we only Immobilize them through Aspect of Binding Embers. I will play with the Build maybe I find a way to play with it. Thx for the amazing Build.

Just going through lots of items then rolling one bad stat into a good one
Frigid fate actually works from every non-physical damage source you got in your paragon. So if you get most lot of them its around 20%[x] multiplier.

I heard that you will get cold damage if you pick up non physical damage from the paragon Bord, which will make that legendary node really good.

No.
Prodigy is getting activated a lot. Overflowing Energy keynode will provide you with so much cooldown reduction, you can spam defensive skills non-stop. And you also gain mana through Chain Lightning (Static Surge legendary paragon node) and Crackling Energy, to make up for the moments when you want to hold off on Teleport or Flame Shield.
Umbral is not efficient against bosses, because it only activates on a FULL stagger bar.

i really wish the metamorphosis evade with the oculus still applied the barrier, allowing for lazy unkillable gameplay, and making it more viable for pvp

@@DonTheCrown It definitely would be, as it stands, you can set it up to be able to teleport 3-4-5 times per second in the fields and be realistically impossible to be killed or even hit at all. But when I saw we do not receive the barrier, ( and assuming the dmg reduction aswell ), i was so bummed lol. There is an update to the metamorphosis and oculus in the next patch that im wondering if that will actually change it, but we shall see

I thought bonus to non physical damages counts as cold res for the frigid finess paragon legendary. Its a 30x mult so give it a try

I've only got one ball lighting aspect while leveling (around 32) and it was lowest value. I am 80 now and have not seen another. They really need to make every aspect available in the codex.

Just a hesds up, the written guide jewelry gems are not set. Also in the vid ur talking about occulus wand but its not set as best in slot for the written build. Maybe its intentional but thought i mention it.
there is a sub-section for the oculus because its kinda 'even further beyond' level of power. also jewelry gems are going to vary depending on your resists

accelerating aspect over control aspect?
If you're struggling with normal enemies control can help but accelerating also works on bosses and not only helps you cast faster but also makes the balls tick faster. Eventually you have so much mana especially during ult that more cast speed is really insane

Curious, why not ESU'S boots ?
Mostly the secondary is wrong. The build really benefits from attacks reduce evades cooldown. Esu's is still a very good option though.

Ball lightning is a very fun build. But if u focus only on dmg output, you will clear the content very fast, and you will get bored. My ball build tend towards tank build (dmg reduction), and i found it more fun and enjoyful. Nm tier100 ballista need 2 hits to kill me. Dmg wise, not as strong.. but defensive wise, its strong..
So yah, try the Tanky Balls light build. It doesnt clear content as fast, but it still do the job well.

I will have to respec a bit to try this one. I don't do near the damage as some folks i see with this build so maybe it is user error or i have something wrong. I am at level 72 but still i see people smoking varshan on t4 at like 75-76 and it took me a while to beat him. Seems i don't have the number of ball lightning around my character like most do.

@marksmanman96 recharge aspect was 100% the ticket. I have like 8-10 ball lightning around me when i let unstable currents go. Pit that on, cast unstable currents and then when you do spam ball lightning on your bar plus being level 90+ really helps because of the paragon points

I messed with godslayer and it wasnt all that noticable and the dip in survival wasnt that great in dungeons.

can someone help me out here, I am getting so irritated at this. I have tried to fight most of the new bosses and keep getting absolutely obliterated by them. i have all of the items in the build, but it feels like I am doing something wrong because I get 1 shot by random stuff.
man its nice the build was updated but the paragon board is completely different now and I wasnt done as Im only level 87. Im gonna have to refund and start all over now
