This is such a great idea! My hamsters are hard to handle as they have lots of energy and are always moving around, this would work a lot better for transporting them from room to room so that I don't risk dropping them. Thanks Erin!
I got a new Syrian hamster about a month or two ago. I followed all your steps for taming. I let him sit for a week and get cozy. However I hadn't done too much research about them before buying him. So he now has a smaller cage and I don't have the money to upgrade at the moment. He doesn't excercise all he does is eat. He has not been cooperating. I started having him eat food out of my hand and he is okay with me touching him. I am scared to try to get him used to being held because the other morning I slowly approached him and he COULD see me, and he bit me and started standing in his hind legs defending himself, his mouth was open and he was making hissing noises, I would love to be able to approach him and hold him without being afraid he is going to bite. Do you have any tips. I've watched all your videos and they are so helpful but I just can't seem to get through with this hamster without being afraid. He is super sweet, but once he bit me I'm kinda afraid. It means a lot if you could help me!
Maybe he's just territorial? I think you should get him a larger cage and maybe more things so he doesn't feel that he'd have to compete? Also do you have any other pets near him?
I would recommend getting a large but affordable cage such as a bin cage, if you really can't do that at the moment, I would recommend wearing gloves when handling him, and letting him run around in a large space like a bathtub, a hamster-safe room, or your bed about every day (it's understandable that he may not want to come out every day so don't force him). Lmao Cole I'm in the same boat with my hammy except he doesn't hiss or defend and he does exercise . His cage is not that small either but soon I'm planning to get him a better cage. His bites are turning into nibbles now too.

No, it will be full of seasonings which will not be healthy for the hamster. Plain, boiled/baked chicken with nothing added makes a fine snack though :)
Hello, can anyone help i have a 2 year old Guinea pig, on Saturday I noticed a redish liquid on my floor it was not blood, i had no idea what it was, so I thought maybe it could be nothing to do with my piggys, but the next day i found the same thing just the other side of the room, so I separated them to see which one it was i also weighed them, the one it is has lost 50g in the last month but other then that has been completely healthy till now, the things I'm thinking it could be are either a UTI or kidney failure, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions, the other problem is we can't afford to take her to the vets.

You can't teach hamsters tricks, not the way you can teach animals like rats. The best a hamster will do is follow a treat around but that isn't really the same :)

I think you could defintly do target-training (just give them a treat every time they touch the targetstick) my gerbils learned this in one day and normaly it takes them weeks or month to learn new tricks
Target touching may be something hamsters can "learn" as long as they are always instantly rewarded for it since hamsters can solve very simplistic treat puzzles. Not every animal can be properly trained though as it takes a certain level of intelligence that some animals simply do not have :)
My winter white dwarf hamster has a red spot under her "arm" i dont think its a Wound and its not a lump its just a red/pink ish spot. She is acting normal but she does bite her leg sometimes does anyone know what this red spot is??? Please let me know

Val the Vlogger hamsters r overprotective of their belly cuz it's a sensitive spot so if ur doing a daily check up I would suggest putting it in a plastic bin. Hope this helps!!
Hey Erin, my hamster is soon 2 years old. I bought new pellets for him and they are double the size of his old pellets. I'm worried that he won't be able to get them out of his pouches easily. Is there any way to make these pellets smaller? By cutting them or making them into some goeyy mess and then make smaller dots for him to eat (I hope you understand, english isn't my native language :/) ? I would appreciate any help I could get from other people too :) now that he is older should he eat more of anything? More fat, proteins or fibres? I love your videos, they are so helpful ❤️

Your Syrians need to be separated as soon as you possibly can. A Syrian's solitary instincts do not start to become apparent until they reach adulthood, as yours are new they will still be pups which is why they aren't yet fighting but this will not last. I'm sure you want to be a good and responsible owner and want to keep your hamsters happy and healthy so you must rush to give them separate habitats. I'm sure you would be absolutely devastated to come home and find one or both hamsters seriously injured or worse.

Have you thought about opening a shop where you sell some of your DIYs? You should! Many of them are quite good and many people would pay you for!
I don't have the time, money, resources or want to do that. I'd rather encourage people to make their own supplies and save their money :)
