    The fact is simple: war means send your own people to fight to death with people sent to fight for death for another country. People in its majority don’t want to kill each other (and be killed in the process), unless they’re ordered or sometimes forced to.
    So in two democracies, the popular pressures will trough public opinion and representatives go up to the leaders to impede them to sent soldiers to fight.

    democracy and peace DO correlate
    but correlations isn't causation.
    it's common ideology and adequate feedback and intelligence to leaders which enables them to obviate war.
    Britain and Germany and France were all equally democratic or if you prefer undemocratic in 1914. The idea Germany in 1914 wasn't a democracy is laughably wrong.
    basically democracies have much better intelligence, enjoy greater legitimacy, and so are less likely to go to war both against other democracies and against dictatorships. Which UK should have done in 1933...
    so .. DPT is mostly wrong.
