In this edition of #thedailydoug, I'm reviewing several songs that were included in a Fan video for the game Reverse: 1999. The music is eclectic, and it was quite a thrill to hear the different sounds that came together in this video. I hope you enjoy!

What i love about Reverse 1999 is that there are many ways to approach this game
Ive seen many people play because of the character designs and diversity. Ive see people play it because of the impeccable story writing. Ive seen people play it for the music. Ive seen people play it for the mechanics. This game is good all around and i love it.
Doug's comment at about the 28 minute mark about "fan based music" is why i love and respect Vocaloid and the Community it birthed and nurtured. fans are also collaborators, and they know this. some random guy uses Vocaloid as a last ditch effort for music, and all of a sudden they go from a nobody to a household name like wowaka or DECO*27. Your song has 20 Million views, and their asking your permission to play it at concerts. And you have a much more open "lenient" community full of covers of all kinds, and people that are talented at music, visual arts, fashion, programming, and more all in one place. One artist will release a song, and you got the entire community bouncing off each other. Some people are doing covers with piano, vocals and flutes, while others are doing covers on calculators and metal rulers. Others are making official or unofficial music videos, with this guy designing the outfits, another on mixing/EQ, and another featured on the guitar solo. Another group are making animations, another drawing cool art. Some go deeper and make an artists album covers or music videos, and it's really something special to see such a tight knit community. It feels like the music is put first BEFORE the Industry. All the artists and fans are doing it cause the passion alone, not the industry or the money. almost 95% of Vocaloid Artists are solo artists. Lyrics, mixing, composition, playing the instruments, etc. it's so refreshing to see in music. I feel so special to have been a part of it for a majority of it's existence for almost 10 years. I practically grew up in the community.
you need to listen the originals sountrack of reverse 1999 like officially and not fan cover
17:35 - So that's why he posted that video out of nowhere that other day! He's Lord Vinheteiro here on youtube. The most famous Brazillian pianist, at least here on youtube, I guess.
for Gaming he NEEDS to get to the Dark Souls Soundtrack eventually. Gwen Lord of Cinder and Soul of Cinder are 2 songs that are linked thematically. for Anime he NEEDS to get to Komm Süsser Tod from Evangelion and Old Stories from Made In Abyss. Both are Top Teir Anime songs. Old Stories is an breathtaking orchestral piece and Komm Süsser Tod is a heartbreaking classic rock inspired ballad with an amazing 7 minute build. Both are experiences in there own right. Also gotta throw in Unravel from Tokyo Ghoul for good measure. Another anime classic, perfect for Metal Mondays
Up!
17:35 People who dont play Reverse 1999: The music is great, wow
People who play Reverse 1999: *immense sobbing* Vinheteiro whyyy? Whyy these parts of the game

I love r99 thanks bluepoch for an original take on the genre
in terms of historical fiction, you mentioned around 37min or so, big recommend for the songs from the Fate Series
they take A LOT of liberties to be fair but also on the other scale love referencing even the most niche details of fictional or historical entities in that media series
The thought just came to me that a collab with @MarcoMeatball could be great... Just throwing it out here.
It would be great! Both have a background in classical music!
For gaming. Halos Mjolnir mix is amazing.
The feeling of scrambling away from the destruction while this bangs in the background is a core memory for me. Playing this as my little brother watched.
Amazing content, love it
Yes, I would really like to see a halo theme reaction, please make it!
This game has a lot of great original music. Every patch they release new songs. It's all on their youtube channel and I think you can find most of it on spotify now as well. Jessica EP -"Catch You Now", Global Launch Commemorative Song - "The Gleaming", and Druvis III EP - "Take Me Back to You" are some of my favorites. A lot of the slower songs featured in the fan concert like the piano stuff and the children's choir have in-game trama associated with them so they can evoke certain emotions in people who have played the game.
This is fantastic. I know you have probably getting some requests for some Yoko Shimimura I would love your take on “Lord of the Castle”. I know she has many more acclaimed but I always felt her composition on that piece was the most polished.
Did not expect to see SplendiferRachie here. been watching her since childhood practically.
Hey Doug, just started binge-watching all your videos yesterday. Entertaining as hell :D Keep it up!
As you've done most of my favorite songs already I would suggest some alternative game music :)
I would recommend the Dark Souls gaming music and Bloodborne as well.
Start with Bloodborne - Laurence the first Vicar, i think you would really enjoy the song as well.
Can't wait till Doug discover Kevin Penkin and his music for Made in Abyss.
Now that I've watched the whole video, time for a proper comment! I knew that this game was recent, although I never listened to the original OST, I think it might be as good as these songs/covers!
Speaking of music, I would like to suggest you take a listen to the track "Unsung War" from "Ace Combat 5", a super orchestral and epic piece!
But if you want some more metal stuff, "Tenebre rosso sangue" from "Ultrakill" is the perfect one!
Heya Doug, been watching the channel for a bit, wondering if u could react to a piece of music called Mobile armor. It's from the anime called Mobile suit Gundam Unicorn and it's composed by Hiroyuki Sawano, it took Sawano many rewrites of the piece for the director of the show to be satisfied with it's impact on screen. I'd really like to see your reaction to this beautiful and emotional piece.
day 1 of asking lmao:
alright hear me out guys. we get him to react to blasphemian. that would be amazing 😭
Would love for you to react to some Wilderun. Amazing band making really great, storytelling music, with lots of classical influence. Something like "The Unimaginable Zero Summer"!
Oh please please please listen to Black Mages, that’s Nobuo Uematsu’s rock band. Their rendition of Dancing Mad is just incredible.
Lilium (Elfenlied) - extended version is what i woud recomend you give a listen to for this list.
u should totally react to pierce the veil - king for a day…. really cool and interesting production
Your next gaming react you should definitely check out either Coils of Light or Eternal Return from Dragon's Dogma.
would you do a reaction to American Tune by Paul Simon? I think it is a beautiful song and a reminder of who we are
We come on the ship they call The Mayflower
We come on the ship that sailed the moon
We come in the age's most uncertain hours
And sing an American tune
Thank you Doug
starrail soundtrack is a good recommendation i feel like :)
I think you should react to the bloodborne soundtrack, it’s simply fantastic!
Hey, just a friendly reminder to not forget about JoJos bizarre adventure
No interest at all in gaming music. Sorry Doug.
What are you doing here then
@@normalpair Here for the other good stuff he reviews.
