The biggest factor here (and yes I know it’s 3 years old) the conda has no grind to obtain it while the other 2 do. That plays a huge role in which ship is obtainable in a reasonable time.
Since you answered to a 3 year old video I'll answer to a 10 month old post: At least the emp rank is achivable in an evening now, just did it the other week. Will see how long fed will take me ^^
Should be faster, maybe. That's what someone told me online on there after they got theirs. I just got my cutters along with 1.something billion doing wing cargo missions@@shadowdrab2145. If you get back on and get it, let me know how that Corvette run for you. I'm engineering/mat grinding two of the cutters I bought Sunday at the moment.
@@archerbackman3749 d'you mind sharing where you did wing cargo that netted you a billion? That sounds really, REALLY enticing. 😂
@@combatwombat2134 Are you Xbox One, PS, PC?
@@combatwombat2134 And you need to be or find some guys with an Elite Trade rank. They helped me, so I'm Elite in Trade and I help others while I'm knocking down this personal game "goal" before I focus on a Fleet Carrier to run around in. Already 7 bil in assets, started Feb 16, 2021 and I work full time. All about timing my g. System: Cubeo/Station: Adelman and surrounding. You'll be going to Reiss Hub in Lambda-1 Tucane. We had a wing of 4 and it got super hot with the 50 mil mission give outs and we were making like 250- 300 mil every 30 minutes at most lmao
Everyone has their own view on the big 3 ships...I see the Cutter as a Support ship,The vette as a Strike ship and the Conda as somewhere in the middle, but none of this matters because the engineers can make a T-9 into a capital class XD. More importantly...Don't hate people for the ship they fly. o7
+A DEVIOUS HYENA of cause. And every should makec there own opinion on the ships. Video Is primarily for people how don't know what the strenghts and weaknesses of the ships are
Moreover, the backgound can be also a criteria of choice for some people attached to the Lore. It could be distubring to work for the Empire with a Corvette for example. As you say, thanks to the Engineers, I'm pretty sure both 3 ships can play aroung their weaknesses.
What you mean into capital class?
TheSenorTuco Overpowered joke....well,I think it was a joke. In short, the engineers can erase the weakness of a ship*like jump range, poor shields, slow speed in normal space"and also improve its strong points "Shields 7.000 +,speed 400 M/S +and so on". A fully engineered Type 9 could compete with a Conda/Vette/Cutter.
Ok for a moment I was thinking about that and I wasn't sure if joke or real. Sometimes the stuff in the elite is so OP that some crazy stuff can be real. And often some things do not make sense first and they become so OP that they need to be nerfed. Hope I will get my over powered stuff on my conda sooner that they doo that. Shield would be lovely but I imagine it requires lot of grinding.
I own all three of these ships. The Conda is a great all rounder but once you get the Cutter it becomes a long jump range exploration ship (mine is engineered for a 57 Ly jump range). The Cutter is the 2nd Large ship to buy because it is good at combat (at least until you get the Corvette) but is also the best Trader ship with its 720t capacity with a class 6 shield (plenty good enough for PvE). The Corvette is the 3rd Large ship to get because it is specifically built for combat, which it excels at. You won't want to go back to combat in the Cutter after flying the Corvette! But with its low jump range you won't want to travel too far in it, so really only useful inside the bubble. So I use the Conda if I want to travel any distance from the bubble (further than a 1000ly), the Cutter for trade CGs and general stuff and the Corvette for any combat including combat CGs. Where there are both trade and combat CGs, I fly back to Shinrarta dezhra to switch ships (ship transport of large ships is just ridiculously expensive [typically 4 or 5 million credits each way!] and so I prefer to spend 10min flying back to switch ships).
This is the general consensus for the big three. I too own all three (actually all the ships in game) and have tried them all. I personally don't like the Anaconda. Never liked how it looked or handled. I do use it as a taxi to transport modules for engineering (currently trying to engineer every ship in the game).
The Corvette is very easy to fly and see why people use it for combat. Just point and shoot and that is about it. Its a great ship don't get me wrong.
The Cutter has always been my favourite so I am very biased. It makes an excellent CG ship. I use it for both transport and bounty CG's. With transport I fit my grade 5 engineered reactive armour and two grade 5 hull strengthened modules in the military slots. They give 2600 in armour and 40/25/40 (kinetic/Thermal/Explosive) resistance and fit all the internals with cargo space for the full 792T cargo capacity. It only takes a few trips to hit the top 10% all the time. :)
For combat the Cutter is slow to turn but with the right setup and knowing how to fly FA off half the time, it can turn as fast as a corvette in regular mode. It is always a personal preference and no way is truly the right way. Only what you enjoy. I also always get in the top 10% in the CG's with the cutter for bounty hunting. Typically getting 2.5-3mil before needing to go back for more ammo (or synthesise). Sometimes I use 2 large plasma's and other times I use incendiary multi-canons for the large slots. The mediums are always turreted beams and the huge is always a gimbaled huge corrosive shell multi :)
I also have used my cutter as an explorer. In Full (light weight) battle fit out, it can go over 31Ly :) All three big ships can do a lot and can be used for any purpose you like. That is what makes Elite so much fun. Being able to swap change and play around with various options with modules and engineering.
Thank you! Nicely summarised and saved me watching a 15 min video.
Susanna Saunders what's the total price to buy and outfit the cutter for trade?
Space mammal (Beluga) FTW!!
Susanna Saunders wait, your cutter has 57 ly?

Anaconda: exploration
Cutter: cargo
Corvette: kill them all
@Fantôme No, its not in either theory or practice.
Not really
Anaconda: combat, exploration, mining/hauling (not its best role tho but good jump range)
Cutter: combat, exploration, anything that involves big cargo space
Corvette: combat (exceptionally good), possibly mining or low distance hauling (jump range isnt good)
But can it get a higher hull
**points to shields** corvet has better shields than conda but less that cutter. It relies on its good turning and second best shields to win
Why should i kill people? Bounty isnt that good right?
Anaconda: Long range exploration, general multipurpose
Cutter: Bulk hauler or missile boat
Corvette: All the pews
There, done.
Rinzler had a loadout of 6 packhounds, with two to a fire group. It annihilated an Elite NPC anaconda.
missile boat is the most accurate description so far optinals with scbs and 8 shield booster, open a smile in my face on a haz rez drag condas to crash into asteroids everyone should try.
@@revbladez5773 the cutter is a torpedo boat xd
@Fantôme It also has the maneuverability of an oil tanker sailing in a sea of mud. There is more to combat than DPS... I will take the maneuverability of the Corvette over the DPS of the Conda every time.
Cutter is a shield tank..
With the guardian FSD booster my Corvette now has a 38 light-year jump Range when fully combat fitted
MInd linking a coriolis build? I'd love to see your load out !
Gonna try this out, my corvettes range really needs a boost even with its G5 long range FSD
lmao if you still have a 38 jump then sorry but you are doing your combat build wrong. Corvette with a deadly combat build should be in the mid or high 20s.
Um... Let the man have his jump range
My corvet also has good range and efficient beam lasers. With thermal vent. Needs less to say I don't think the one fsd booster is going to effect my conda capabilities
Honestly the Federal Corvette should've had 2 huge, 2 large and 4 mediums. It should've been the ship that deals the most overall damage, hands down, straight off the bat.
From what I read, the Corvette had, originally, 2 mediums, 3 large and 2 huge, but they changed it later.
Would also be nice to have frag cannons for huge hp (lvl 4) instead of lvl 3
As it is for now and after trying it with friends in friendly PVP, I would not say that the Corvette is the best combat ship of the big three. I would say that it is the Cutter. The extra shielding means that you can damage the enemy modules before they can target yours and that is the difference between victory and defeat. As for the Manoeuvrability, the difference is not large enough to say that one has the advantage over the other and the speed boosting will actually counter the lack of manoeuvrability as long as you are able to switch from flight control on to flight control off. The conda isn't really competitive in pvp combat in the big 3. So I would say that packing a good puch is important, but the Cutter is a viable option for combat. I would therefor nor condemn the Cutter solely to trader role. It is a fearsome fighter.
Nice review. Two things I'd love to see in subsequent videos however is the 360° turn time at 50% throttle for both 4 and 0 pips into engines. The reason for this is because:
a: Ships turn fastest at 50% throttle;
b: Most ships lose a lot of their maneuverability when you reduce pips in Engines, except for combat ships which don't lose all that much in speed/mobility when you go 0 pips in eng;
Clipper for example is incredibly nimble with 4 pips into engines, but a total brick with 0. The vulture/viper however don't feel much different at all. No idea on the cutter/corvette though, which is why I'd love to see this info added.
True to a point
I have all three but truly love the cutter. I outfitted it with mainly energy weapons (beam and pulse) with multi cannons in the remaining smaller slots. I can stay in a hazardous resources area for hours and rake in millions before resupplying and repairing. The corvette is great but I find that the shields drop more often than my cutters, allowing hull and module damage forcing me to repair or risk a rebuy. The only downside that affects my style is the cutter is more of a floating brick while the corvette feels like threading a needle. You get used to it after piloting it for awhile and really have to learn to anticipate where your ship is going and how fast especially in an asteroid field.
no problems in my corvette in haz rez. shields never go down and I'm using bi weave shields
I use a 'vette with standard shielding (7A) for PvE. If my shields drop under 1 full ring, I just reboot the ship and instantly get my shields back to 1,5k MJ, which is darn good for not needing to keep an eye on your shields otherwise. But Bi-weaves work too.
I just settled on having all 3 ships 😀
Anaconda for long range exploring, Corvette for short range combat, Cutter for short/long range hauling.
That pretty much sums the video up in one sentence.
I like excess in this game. I copped three of 'em once I got Duke. Two will be completely engineered hopefully before the World War 3 or Z or sumn. The last one I use for cargo and mining huge loads. I wish you could rent some of these ships out engineered. You already can sell them. lol
I only found one thing truly missing: The spin test should include all three axis, not just pitch. Should also test yaw and roll. Because I know from experience that Gutamaya ships prioritize yaw over pitch (unlike Faulcon Delacey). It means you will have to re-learn fighting when changing between them.
I got my Anaconda 2 weeks ago, and I must say with a little engineering it has become an amazing combat ship, I sometimes even forget to launch my fighter lol.
And very important the really low Hull Mass allows you to fully equip it for combat and still get right there into the "Optimal Hull Mass" of a Class 7 shield, meaning you can get the best performance out of it.
And if that wasn't enough, you can even equip a Class 6 thruster and with engineering you can get a lot of it while sainvg money, power and weight.
I haven't tested the other two yet, but I feel the Anaconda will still be the better ship, and probably the most balanced one.
And its really cheap to restore if you get killed, not like the other two (it didn't happend to me yet).
Off topic, but I gotta say: The Corvette is a badass looking ship, the sharp edges really show off its purpose... It actually reminds me of my Z days, back when I had a 1988 Nissan 300zx. Man I loved that thing, and deeply miss it. :C The Cutter though, ohmygawd... The Cutter is an absolutely GORGEOUS craft! I seriously can't keep my eyes off the damn thing. For functionality, I really have no need for it, but there's no way that's not up high on my list of ships to get, ASAP! Whoever designed it, good on you, and thank you!
Anaconda: Exploration/multipurpose
Cutter: Bulk Trader/Bulk Miner
Corvette: Bounty Hunter/Military
I own several Cutters and the Corvette (used to have a Conda but abandoned it somewhere). All engineered to the teeth. Tried Corvette many times in the war and at the Haz RES. Kill ratio is not too good when compared to the Cutter. Yes, Corvette has more "punch" and better turn rate, but it is sooo slow. I can't even count how many targets flew away from me. Cutter on the other hand doesn't turn for s...t, but it is the fastest of them and it comes with the best shield in the game (I'm using engineered bi-weave). If you can catch it - you can't hurt it. If you can hurt it - you can't catch it. And if Cutter is chasing you, God have mercy on your soul. As for the Anaconda, it is one of the best multi-role ships with great exploration potential, just not too elegant and a bit too fragile to my liking.
My take? Anaconda is a ship for EVERYTHING. Cutter is a ship for hauling. Corvette is just for fighting. Anaconda can do it all well, the other two just edge it out in their two specializations.
Fun fact: You get more MJ out of a A5 Prismatic Shield Generator on an Anaconda than an A7 Regular, just barely, as the optimal mass on the A5 PSG is 405 Tonnes. (With the Anaconda Hull mass being 400T)
It's still really weird that the Anaconda has like 35% more Hull Points than the Corvette or Cutter but less than half the Hull mass. Maybe the internal logic of the game is that because the Anaconda has all those redundant optional compartments, it's like crumple zones on a car? lol
Conda is perhaps made of high grade plastics corvette old fashion metal
It's possible the Corvette was designed with an intentional high mass so it could adopt a ramming tactic. I believe the Corvette also has a higher hull hardness which could give some explanation
I have a conda for exploring and one for Thargoids, vette for humans, cutter for goids/hauling
I use my Corvette for passenger missions. My Conda for exploring and I don't know what I'll use my Cutter for yet, probably something stupid. Because it's a Wednesday. Or Flag day or taco Tuesday... The options are unlimited!!!!
i almost thought he said "babies and gentlemen."
I can't unhear this.
Well he's not wrong
Indeed he speaks very unclear, like he thinks 100% of the World is from his little village
I dislike the lack of choice at the top end.
Trade = cutter
Combat = corvette
Explore/utility = anaconda
Wish there were more large ships to choose from...
I also wish I could explore in the vette because the anaconda looks like arse xD
I mean the type 10 and beluga are quite large ships.
@@RandomNameLastName811 so is the python and it looks really good
You can fit hull reinforcement in standard empty compartments as well.
I know the general consensus is that the corvette is best for combat but I love my engineered anaconda too much. The 3 class 3 hardpoints are better in my view than the corvettes 1 with the 2 huge hardpoints. I've engineered the engines so it destroys a stock a fit corvette in manoeuvring, running a class 3 and class 4 cannon underside, 2 class 3 beams and then 2 class 2 and 2 class 1 beams on turrets, all engineered so I can fire them forever and with higher than stock dps to boot... shields in the 5000s and over 3000 hull. She can jump 35ly and boost almost as fast as the cutter :)
I love her....
That sounds pretty impressive! I just bought my conda a couple weeks ago. Only fitted for exploration and fitted it for trade once. Only play on the weekends and dont have the money to fit for combat. =( lol
Making money in Elite is really easy now that Void Opals are a thing, even Fdev says the payout is properly balanced (1 void opal sells for 1.65 million, so if you got 100 ton cargo thats 165mil at least)
Cutter is a Pirate ship. Mass lock and speed. They can't get away. Just gotta be careful that who they pirate isn't going to fly doughnuts around them.
600h gameplay, and i still havent unlocked Corvette and Cutter lol thats how i love my Anaconda ^^ Jumprange for the win! But i think i soon will, but atm im busy unlock all the engeneers, and there aswell the Conda just comes in handy, for like to go to Colonia or have everything with you for farm all engeneer mats. Its now able to do 66LY able to repair itself, got a scarab and a scorpion loaded, collector limpets, repair/scoop/hatch limpets, 196 cargo what i change to fuell tank when i need to. its just nice to travel inside the bubble from engeneer to engeneer in like 3 jumps. makes it all so smoother and faster. after 450h comming back, now i did in 150h like 4 times what i did back then. But thats not just because of the Conda, more to thanks is to all the guides from UA-cam 🤣 Down to Earth Astronomy and few others doing a great job how to get things fast and ''easy'' done. i would be so lost without that.
Conda for Mining, Corvette for Combat, Cutter for..... what ever your heart desires. I own a Vette and a Conda, too lazy to go grind Imp rank. I love the Conda because of that Front facing open glass port in the front of the ship. I'd like to think of that as the Captain's Quarters.
I want the Corvette because it looks better IMO. I want to go more into combative gameplay as well, so that maneuverability and extra Huge hardpoint help too.
EDIT: The Corvette looks more military than the Anaconda or Cutter, but the Cutter looks the sexiest with all those curves and chrome.
i choose the corvette cause of 4 reason
1. i am not grinding imperial rank after grinding for federal, i had enough of rank grinding
2. NO EXPOSED CABLES ON THE COCKPIT like anaconda!
3. the cockpit placement of the corvette is perfect, the cutter cockpit is...doesnt give you a feel of piloting a battleship, it's way to the front
4. 2 HUGE hardpoint for MORE DAKKA
actually one more bonus reason why i use corvette instead of cutter
if i wanna do trading or mining, people suggest me using cutter, but i dont wanna grind imperial rank again,
and for trading and mining i got a type 9, that space cow can hold more cargo than i can dream of and can still carry ALL the mining equipment needed
Very useful. I'm on my way back to the bubble with a boat load of exploration data (including the higher value stuff from 2.3) so I can participate in whatever Salome has planned for the 29th. Was thinking about refitting my exploration 'conda for combat, but if I have the money and rep for it, Corvette it is.
I never understand why the Cutter gets two Military slots, it is not a fully dedicated Military ship, its Multi Role, where as the Corvette is basically a pure Military ship so I do understand why it gets two Military slots.
Kind of wish I could sacrifice the two small for one more llarge on the Corvette as well haha
Fitted and engineered for combat the Cutter can cut through the other 2 in the same time.
As the owner of an A-rated, G5 engineered Cutter I can vouch for that. o7
Dirty Drive on your thrusters `?
G5 baby.
Cutter's biggest strength is running your enemy out of ammo with immense Shields. Also an 8A Prismatic Shield gives the cutter a hidden Class 5 Hardpoint. That Hardpoint is its nose, powered by the overwhelming mass of the ship and high speed. I've seen cutters ram through Anacondas in 1 good boost, lol.
I prefer the conda though. Shitty Jump range really kills any ship for me, so despite the Corvette's Battleship like combat ability, I don't like it. And the Cutter... Well, I'm just not rich enough to operate one yet, lol.
zon tarr Wrong. Cutter has worse hardpoints and only a S7 Dist. Conda has the most raw firepower and best weapons placement followed by Corvette
Corvette for looks, style, firepower and general coolness.
Anaconda for durability and jump range
Cutter for cargo capacity, if you don't mind piloting an oversized woman's pleasure device with engines.
I love my Corvette, although I think all 3 ships are great. Can't wait to get an Anaconda next.
Well, Corvette is only worth it if you want combat.
@@arcticwolf6402 Not true for me at least. It's my fav miner and I would get the ship just for its looks even if it wasn't a god in combat.
i love the anaconda for a jump ship or a bounty hunting ive achieved my goal 3 times so far struggling to get the other 2 unlocked, the cutter seems interesting.
Hey, now for trading, the T9 is almost the same as the Cutter. Mine is 32Ly unladen, 18 laden, 220MAx Speed with boost for 726Tons.
The main differences between a cutter and a T9, super fitted for trading are:
PRICE a trader T9 cost 120M, a trader cutter is 220M~),
LADEN jumping range: T9 does 18, cutter can do 22 for an average of 720tons. Both does more than 30Ly unladen ( T9 makes 33~, Cutter can do 37)
SPEED: t9 is slow: 200M/S average, cutter is more like 380M/S
I would say go for the T9 if you don't have tons of money, and you're sure than you're only going to trade.
Go for the Cutter is spend more than 200M is not a problem for you or if you don't want to fly a super slow ship.
The corvette i can class it as (and the forum says it too) A Super-heavy fighter Having the lowest DPS and jumprange the corvette makes up for it by having better shield strength and can turn faster than the anaconda but what stands out unlike the cutter or anaconda is those 3 class 7 internals 1 prismatic and 2 7B shield shells and you are golden darling or if you really like use that class 6 slot and put in 3 shield shells with them being class 7 you can see why the corvette is very good in its role its built for fighting not for exploration or trading. combat is something the corvette loves to do and it is good at it
The cutter is good at 2 main roles. Trading and combat having the best shields and hull in the game you can see why it turns so slowly but is very good in combat and having the second best DPS but when modifies the cutter can get over 400 m/s that makes it the fastest (except for beluga liner i think) makes it the fastest ship of that size so this puppy can get trading done if you are willing to get a naval ship only to trade in it. making it a Super-heavy multipurpose and the cutter if you like can be good at exploration too (well any ship can explore even hauler is 1# choice for those people who want to make all of their money by exploration at first) you can call the cutter a slightly beefed up anaconda but you lose jump-range, dps and maneuverability.
Then the anaconda. it being a heavy multipurpose you can see what it does. like the cutter it can do everything. having the best jumprange it is very good for trading and exploration. however having the weakest shields it makes up for it by having the most DPS of any ship in the game and a Awesome hull but it also suffers by being the slowest so running away may prove difficult. But what makes the anaconda so unique is that is is evenly good at all roles Traders, combat pilots, -Insane people- explorers can be put at the same location and while flying the same shit at first glance you don't know what there intentions are also (in my opinion) the anaconda is the most sexy ships and when you are low on hull those damage effects are amazing! well my drooling aside if you want the most reliable ship of the 3 go for the anaconda and needing no rank requirement the anaconda is your friend it want to do what you want to do. "you wanna explore?" you say "wanna trade" "wanna go to a RES site and open a multi crew"? the anaconda will always say "you know my answer lets do it"!

For anyone watching this in 2022:
Anaconda is still the best explorer, but by such a small margin, compared to Diamond Back Explorer and Asp Explore, that it is hard to justify unless you are past the point of caring about credits.
Cutter is the only of the big 3 that can be justified as investment because it is the best miner and 2nd best trader in the game. It is also the best of the large ships for combat because the only viable way to use a big ship in combat right now is massive shields.
The Corvette looks cool. That is it; there is no other reason to buy one. It is actually has worse offence and defense than the Anaconda as well as less utility. But to be fair, it does look really cool and that is probably the main reason you want a "big 3" ship.
why is the corvette so nerfed at this point?
@@unknow11712 It is exclusively a combat ship and FDev heavily favors mid sized ships when balancing combat.
I was going to get one of these but once I A'd all my core/optionals and engineered my weapons, my Krait MK takes these down without losing shields by staying behind them. I'll buy one if I ever get bored LOL😅
NPC that isn't engineered /under-engineered cutter or a real person with an engineered one?
Funny. Been thinking about taking one of my kraits and making it a "cold" ship for combat. Those things can move!
Class 8 shields, not even fully engineered, shield rating 3200 on my cutter. The class 8A shield generator is crazy.
get it prismatic and it will be more crazier
I recommend using the cutter in conjunction with 3 FDLs with force shell cannons as a cannonball. Turn off the thrusters, line up and then bowling alley.
I have a conda, with its hardpoint convergence and higher hull integrity it can easily match the corvette in a slug match.
very use- and helpful, thanks a lot!
I would say, if you are taking a ship into combat that you know has some severe disadvantages, play off those disadvantages. So i would try and say use the cutter as a strike ship and beef up a multiweave shield, so that whether you turn it into a gun platform by ranging out some turreted multicannons and missiles, or you wanna say f--- that guy in particular, and use it's speed to close the gap with as many fragment/shard cannons as possible, the cutter with it's speed, ability to hold high tier repair modules, and beefy shields definitely has a place in combat....just not in dogfights
I miss this game. Think about it all the time, but they killed it when they stopped supporting consoles. I bought the stick for this, too. I loved space combat more than anything. Who knew space legs would be the end!?
Type 10 (which I'd call the 4th big combat ship) has a single class 8 slot.
It really annoys me when nobody includes the type 10 in these kind of videos
One is for hauling the other is for combat and then there's the anaconda a mixture of both with the best jump range in the game if outfitted for exploration and the one you first buy while waiting on either imperial or fed grind to be over.
Just a little science more for manueverability could be a matched speed turning radius rather than matched throttle position.
If modified for the sole purpose, the cutter can have the most shields and hull, effectively becoming a super ship.
A super *lethargic* ship. And a single focused minded more as well..
Which is why I will only ever use one for transport.
The Anaconda actually has more hardpoint damage than the Corvette, despite its immediate "punch" not being as strong. It is also not as agile. However, unmoddified, it has more hull than the Cutter.
And finally the Vette. Sexy, sleek, a medium-shield strength, and the best agility- at the cost of hull.
Like everyone says, to each his own. I would love to fly any of the ships, but imo for which one in terms of PvP - the Anaconda. Transport- Cutter. And just to look cool in PvE- Vette.
If you count the amount of units as say in anacondas case 1x4 , 3x3 , 2x2 and 2x1
In hard points it has 19 units of space for hard points
The cutter has 18 and the vette only has 17
In my opinion the corvette has the least firepower
Thank you again. I edit my comment at your Advanced Corvette Build Video.
I follow your Tips and got quiet a Tank now.
This was a good boost for my Nostromo 189247 Conda.
Kudos 4 u
I have the corvette and I miss the anacondas jump range, I want the Cutters shields but goddam, the combat and defense on the vette is one of a kind
I own the Corvette and two Anacondas. Corvette is a manoeuvering ship. Fantastic. But it's as stated a pure battle ship you use locally. The Conda is still useable as almost all-round even when fitted out for combat. And then ofcourse the Anaconda is a beaut when it comes to exploration.
Roger Gustafsson once I get a carrier I won’t have to consider it local 😀
I'm glad people here are saying Anaconda and Corvette are better combat ships than Cutter. More Anaconda/Corvettes to kill and less Cutters to be killed by. :D
I mean a cutter sheild tank can be annoying as hell to deal with
I like the Anaconda and Corbet but the Cutter looks just like a fancy airplane.
Anaconda: jump range
Cutter: shield tank
Corvette: death star
if you are a good pilot, you can fly any ship you want.
Araxes that is very true. however when it comes to combat I'm not a good pilot. So the ekstra manuverbility helps me a lot :)
I have a Cutter. i use it for everything since i can outfit everything i want in a single ship. I got a fighterbay with 2 fighterslots, lot of cargospace, one class 4 SRV thingy for 2 SRV's 8a shieldgenerator, a fuelscoop and even Scanners for exploring and i still was able to fit a 8a shieldcellbank into it military slots are filled with 5a shieldcellbank and a modul reinforcment 5 D. With all that it still has 24 LY jumprange. I can play every aspect of the game with this single ship without having to neceseraly refit.
I'll take my PA engineered hauler into a conflict zone then.
Does being a good pilot help you carry more?
yes, since you can replace shield with more cargo ;)
Anaconda is by far the best. All three ships are very interesting but none is actually worth buying as their cost is insane and they add very little to the best ship in the game which is Python. If you wonder why Python is light years better than those three huge ships , its 3 reasons, well balanced, can land on outposts and the most important is that it does not cost a fortune. Python's only big weakness is short range jump. Anaconda is a must have if you want to do long range missions. Personally I prefer my Cutter , because it looks amazing, huge cargo hull and a huge shield making it great for combat too. But out of the three hands down the best by far is Anaconda. Corvette is indeed on paper the best for combat out of the three the problem is that is put in the corner because of Cutter's enormous shield, sure Cutter lack turning speed but then if you care about turning speed all 3 are terrible at it. Add a huge shield cell on Cutter and this thing becomes practically unkillable at least in PVE, Cutter is the ultimate turtle. Plus if you fight multiple enemies a huge shield will be far more useful than a bit more turning speed. But yeah Corvette is a very good ship for one to one aggressive combat its problem is that it specialise in just that and nothing else. Cutter specialises in trade, minning and multi enemies combat . Anaconda specialises in trade, combat and long range missions (trade / transport) and of course exploration.
What this fails to mention is that you can engineer the Light Weight Alloy Armor on all the ships with Heavy Duty G5 with Deep Plating this is a free armor boost without the cost of weight. The Conda is a great multipurpose ship it can easily full fill any role you want to put it in. This cannot be said to my knowledge for the Corvette. Most if not all Vette users use it as a combat ship only while it has the potential to be the better passenger ship out of all three. While most of the Cutter users use it as exploration, mining, transport, trading and/or combat. This may be due to the Imperial faction having not only this ship but also the Prismatic Shield is why you see less Vettes but also the internal comparment sizes that let you do more while the Vette has the more significant fire power and a marginal shield difference when compared to the Cutter.
Cutter is Star Trek even though it's the empire... The Corvette is so Star Wars, yet is the Federation. Lol the Anaconda is by far the less aesthetically pleasing, but it by the most practical.
so just from stats, i'm reading the cutter as more of a hit-and-run strike ship, while the corvette would be better for tanking
By the time you turn your ship to perform another hit and run the enemy is already blasting you from behind. Cutter is more of a sit still and take a beating cause it can. Slap turreted weapons, sit back and watch the fireworks.
@@gac9513 boost in reverse and shoot them with long range weapons? Lol frowned upon tactic in PvP circles I know... But fuck them haha. They have zero chance of success
@@1invag Whats the latest on the game? Seems abandoned and there are no carriers yet!
I've since moved on to Space engineers and making myself an anaconda. What a fantastic game, highly recommend.
@@gac9513 I only started to weeks ago so cant speak to how it was and I play exclusively in solo so given that perspective, seems fine to me. I'll play till I get bored same with every other game I've ever played lol. Supposedly carriers are coming out this quarter, but who honestly knows. It was carried update that made me pick it up finally to weeks ago
This was ridiculously helpful, and just what i needed to see. Thanks very much! =)
I am close to buying my third anaconda. I have one for mining, one for combat, and the next one will be an explorer
Oh boy
Whats the best way to grind fast as a beginner for $?
Thank you for your videos. They are concise and very useful.
i recommend all 3 then you got a trade ship a battleship and a exploring ship
I really want a Corvette, but I gotta fucking grind Federation rank at Sothis for a few days first. WHAT A CHORE.
Around 3m30s you say Corvette has most firepower. But if you add the hard points up you get Ana19 Cut18 Cor17. You think the Huge factor outweighs the total difference?
great job man, great research
I don't have a freighter like so many other people right now, I have a krait mk. 2 for mining and my faithful, sort of multi role engineered Conda, the Chitara X, currently trying to ranks grind for the feds to get the Federal Corvette, I'm only at Ensign but it's just taking forever.. Hopefully by the time Odyssey rolls around I'll be closer to getting it😅
Very good effort, making this comparison
I disagree with your conclusions though.
Both Anaconda and Cutter are great for combat too - just with different strategies.
Just for the look alone, the cutter is my favorite, but they are all super awesome ships with their own strengths.
Cutter also wins by looks :3
D2EA you should dust this off and revisit it. Lots of stuff added could change this now... Guardian tech for one. Also, should you revisit this... consider talking about how much baseline power you get. I feel like you missed out on taking about power plants in this one.
2 large hard points do more damage thanasingle huge
I like to see this but with Type-10 added in for comparison.
Lots of weapons (highest theoretical DPS), even less maneuverable than the cutter and I'm pretty sure it's slow. Do not use it for combat IMO. I prefer Corvette for combat, but I can at least acknowledge the arguments for Anaconda (better hull, higher theoretical DPS, less expensive) and Cutter (excellent shields, decent speed). I see no reason to use a type 10 in combat, when the Anaconda does it's style of combat (slow moving weapon platfrom) much better.
Very good comparison video D2EA, thank you. I use an Anaconda for exploration and a cutter for trade, but refitted for combat. I find it's very effective with a Hugh beam with heat vent and the rest Multicannons with incendiary rounds. The shield's at nearly 2500mj with Bi Weave, so they last a fair while :). Plus, with Thruster Engineering, it can outrun most ships but the downside is the turn rate :(. It's somewhat like flying a train in space at times. due to the high forward momentum caused by the weight.
+CMDR Evolution I use my cutter for mining. And that ship drifts like nothing else. It almost like the cutter was made to fly sideways
Love the vids man. You are definitely one of the best! I appreciate your hard work and dedication to the game.
Where's the sidewinder in this video? ?
Saw a video that someone made a battleship out of the cutter
To be fair, you only tested 1/3 of the mobility of the ships. Pitch is important, but not necessarily moreso than roll and yaw. I know my Cobra is slooooow to yaw. So I have to roll it so I can use pitch to get the angle I want.
I love your Channel!
But, what about using them as a mining ship? Cutter vs Corvette?
Congrats on this video, everything was very well explained and it was well put together
I've been playing the game for 4 or 5 years but with approximately a two year break because of the Odyssey release debacle. I hate the Anaconda. I do own one but it is useless to me as anything but a stor-a-conda for modules now. I have two Cutters outfitted differently and one Corvette purely for PvE pirate hunting. The primary purpose of the Cutters is laser mining and cargo.
I love the anaconda, I prefer it over the others in almost every way (personal preference)! It's got the perfect amount of slots for anything I look at whether it's pve, pvp, pvx, exploration or trading (to name a few)! It's low price point ment i got it early on and as a result it's Maneuverability feels natural to me, even if it isn't the fastest. The Corvette is cool and all but its reliance on dogfighting is ill suited to a ship of its size. The Cutter on the other hand feels like a absolute dreadnought, especially with a turreted layout!
(In all honesty the Corvette feels like an A10 in space, better suited to attacking slower, hardened targets. It's fun but it feels to sluggish to make use of such a powerful payload... now if I could put C4 turrets on it... that'd be another story entirely!)
I'm going to get all three and just explore.
Thanks for the video.
I like this channel. New subscriber here!
thanks 1 analyst to another
Hi, I just got a quick remark for your next Roundtable in regards to the new planet tec. I am an endgame explorer in Elite, I don't care much for the first person stuff or mining or dogfighting. I like to look for the new plant biology introduced into Odyssey. I am close to Yamiks point ofview for everything elite, despite enjoying it like no other game. But for the new planet tech, In my opionion the planets in Oddyssey look incredible. Frontier always tired to be scientific about what its galaxy, looks like. I think with Odyssey they nailed the planet tech, beeing closer to real life observerations. Look at pictures from our real life obversations of divverent planet's surfaces. Almost none of them look like the "cool" planets we saw in horizons. Mostly they don't have deep ridges or canyons, like in horizons. The Planets in horizons do look cool, I agree with that, but are they realistic?!. I think with Odyssey, the planets surfaces got much closer to real life and our observations than horizons did.
Anaconda = Linux
Cutter = Apple
Corvette = Microsoft
The anaconda destroys the corvette in terms of dps, and the placement of the large hard point right underneath the corvette makes it practically useless because it can't track targets and hardly ever fires unless your target is underneath the ship or you are using fixed weapons.
Nice video, just one complaint, the corvette needs reputation with the federation, so if you have not grinded that to a high level forget the vetted dream
The more i look into it the more i feel i did the right choice choosing the Type 10 instead of Anaconda. 7A distrubtor on type10 is not a problem if you manage your pips and enginer correctly. (And no it isnt a 6a its 7a). The conda really lack the 8A slot and with only 1 7A seriously you cant carry anything on that shit.... -.-'
Thanks, but those large class ships are so slow 😩
corvette armor:666
i knew it was a devils ship
Was really disapointed after getting the Cutter, slow and bulky compared to Anaconda, it turns really slow, jump range also bad, Cutter is not worth the price as the most expensive ship in my opinion, Corvette is a good ship except the jump range is so incredible bad, if you buy this ship, expect to never take it out of your system, it's that bad, but it's agile as you wouldn't believe, it's a very good war ship, much better than Anaconda and Cutter. Anaconda is def the best ship of the 3 large, because it can do so many things, I only use Cutter for mining, but you could just as well use a Type - 9 for that, I do about 250 tons, that's all I can bare doing before I'm getting bored as hell, takes me about 2 hours or more. if you want to mine with 500 tons or more it's going to take you the whole day, if your*e up for that, go with a Type - 9 instead of the Cutter, it can do it.
Is there something Im missing??? How can the anaconda get lower shields vs corvette with the same 7A shield gen even thought the vette is 2x the hull mass? I don't understand sometimes the hull mass equation breaks down. Ive seen this on thrusters on the Asp Scout and Asp E with the same 4A thrusters the ASP E is just as fast even though its much heavier almost 2x. This is kind of ruining the game for me... Is there an explanation?
For each ship, there are a set of hidden factors which decide how the ship responds to different module classes. There will be one for jump range, module protection, each of the thruster axes, etc.
Lore wise it's down to engineering constraints in the design I guess?
Really though, it's to prevent all ships of X mass from handling the same way. It's probably a good thing too, the last thing I personally want is to spend millions a new ship and have it feel the same as my old one. Engineering is always a game of trade-offs (real engineering that is :P), and it's one of the things ED nails on the head with its ship outfitting mechanics (even if it is sometimes annoying).
Corvette is a combat ship, deal with it.
@@calcilisx not even close to a reasonable explanation. But @101m4n already nailed the explanation anyways.
@@cutty02 ill phrase it better. It a combat ship, it need to be balanced to have better shield or else why even grind it?
And the way they balance is by the method 101m4n mentioned.
Did i forget to mentioned that conda hve better hull and armor hardness?
@@calcilisx I dont really care about the roles I have all the ships in game. This issue I didnt like is that the anaconda broke the hull mass equation. Didnt really follow the game logic with no real explanation beside hand wavium.
Awesome video. Very helpful
folks just stick some overcharged PAs or cannons if your PP cant hold PAs, now kill anything in 2 seconds.
