The Bare-XF is the newest barefoot shoe specifically built for training from Inov-8. This model is a continuation of the popular Bare-XF 210 V3.
With this model, I was most curious to assess its toe box width and performance for lifting and cross-training. I found the 210 V3 to feel a little narrow at times, so I've been pleasantly pleased with the Bare-XF's reworked shape and width.
In my Bare-XF review, I'll cover all of the key details that you should know before buying these shoes.

10:50 Final Verdict, Would I Buy These Again?
I think if you want a pair of barefoot shoes exclusively for lifting and cross-training, then you'll enjoy the Bare-XF performance.
The reworked and wider toe box is awesome, the upper breathes well, and the sole has good articulation for training.
Not to mention, the addition of the BOOMERANG Footbed gives this shoe a little more range for different populations. Swap out that insole for an even more minimalist feel.

Thanks, Jake! I've been anxiously waiting for this review since the initial impressions video. I commented on another one of your videos last week that we need a best of barefoot shoes video soon because there have been several releases here over the last couple of months. I'm now waiting to see your full reviews on the Tyr DropZero and also on the Radix. Thanks again and hope you have a great weekend, Jake!
I have a best barefoot shoes video ready to rip - early next week.
Radix in the works and so is the DropZero. Thank you for rocking with me!
Bought them based on this review and have been super happy with them. Thank you!
These are best the types of comments! Love hearing that
I've always been curious about Inov8. This shoe will probably be my first pair from this brand
Oh snap!
just PR'd my DL with this shoe! LFG!
Ayyy!!
Thanks for this Jake. Interesting. I am not too happy with my old Bare XF - I ended up with an achilles problem that I put down to wearing that model. I find the shoe extends up the back of my heel a little too far, and I also find that part of the shoe too rigid for comfort, an issue I resolved with some judicious hammering of the back of the heel. They wear just fine now! I don't know if you can compare the back of the heel of this model with the older Bare XF - do they rise up as far as each other and does the new model's heel area (behind the achilles) seem to be as rigid as the older model? If so, I will likely stick with my F-Fly for both Hyrox and Cross-Fit. Thanks as always, very helpful and useful video. 🙌
I actually don't own the older Bare-XF model so I'm not the best point of reference, but I feel like this model's boot is pretty low and not wicked rigid! Welcome!
Thank you for your review. I have a question. I have a pair of TOLOS 2.0 but they are slipping during leg press at just 230 pounds. What other shoe do you recommend that would have better grip during leg press but also have good articulation for lunges and split squats. The leg press is older/typical style where you seat down and the plate to push is up high so you have to lift your legs. Hope that makes sense. Also the leg press plate is not fully flat.
These, TYR DropZero, Notorious Lift Radix!
Shout out to Maui for playing the drums for Jake’s joke.
Does the toe spring disappear when you’re standing in them? Is the upper overly breathable for cold weather?
Yeah, it's not noticeable when standing and training! Ahhh, it shouldn't be too bad, tbh. Less breathable and models like the Primus Lite III, imo
Hey there! I’ve been watching a ton of your videos lately attempting to narrow down a pair of shoes to get. I work long 12 hour shifts in the hospital so most of my walking environment is hard tile/concrete flooring. What would you recommend for walking on that all day? I don’t need anything that I would be running/jumping in. I really like the way Vivo shoes look especially considering I don’t want to stand out like a sore thumb. Any suggestions?
Vivo can be solid. Which model are you looking at?
@@thatfitfriend so far I have been looking at the Primus Lite Knit. And the Motus Strength. Would they be acceptable if I walk on hard floors for 12+ hours a day?
Lems primal 3
Did they fix the issue with the insole sliding around in the V3 with this model?
Yeah, the BOOMERANG grips a lot better, imo!
Have you ever road ran with these shoes ( with and without insoles)? And does landing on rocks/pebbles hurt ( a lot or minimal)?
I have a bit but kept the insole in. I’m not a diehard barefoot shoe road runner since I vary my training with my hybrid stuff (find barefoot road running beats my knees up too much).
The insole does help and it’s not as harsh as other models I’ve used on road like tolos/Primus models
Do you have any recommendations for a budget insole replacement?
I wear barefoot shoes and like the closer to ground feel but with the foot smell, i like to have the option of a removable insert.
I'm not super familiar with too many insoles, tbh. I've been wanting to get into the more, though. Sorry I'm not more help!
Wilding shoes sell insoles. I own a pair of wilding tanuki, and they have been great. Now they are on their last lap, and I could use some more lateral support. I've been considering the inno8 barexf, and worry a bit of the insole having too much support. I bet there are plenty of options for insoles though
How is the boomerang insole responding under heavy loads?
It’s not bad! I’ve taken out and swapped with other insoles when I’m tugging and it’s solid
Hi Jake, do you know the stack height for these?
Hey, Inov8 doesn't provide exacts, but these feel like a ~4ish mm stack without insole!
I'm exactly 9.5 US size without socks. Would you recommend up sizing? I wonder if 9.5 would be just perfect
I think TTS is the move here!
How wide is the toe box compared to Xero 360?
I feel like they feel similar but when side to side Bare is a smidge wider!
How many more till you work on a $20 whitin loafers?
Haha, mans wants these loafers! Have a backlog of content atm
