Its crazy how jet pens had platinum carbon on they're "top inks for cheap paper" video. I bought myself a bottle of kiwa guro and i love it, it behaves well and its water resistant enough, like if you dont smear it and just let the paper air dry, you cant even tell that water ever even hit the ink. Kiwa guro basically doesn't feather on any paper, it just spreads, and has zero bleed through on copy paper. There are some papers that it will bleed through, but its has to be really bad paper. It even held up to newspaper with minimal bleed. Thank for making this video, it really helped in choosing the best black ink for me
Funny, I've used Platinum carbon black for years in an EF Platinum Carbon Desk Pen and never had any feathering or bleeding on halfway decent paper. I find it very well behaved. I'm using it in a Metropolitan stub right now, no feathering or bleeding even on poor paper (but that's not a super wet stub). I was surprised actually how well it behaved in the Metropolitan.
Hi Mike. I bought a platinum carbon desk pen 'ef' with platinum carbon black. The pen was very inexpensive and a great way to sample the ink. I liked it well enough to buy a bottle. The pen stays on my desk at all times. It is my envelope addressing, check writing pen. Maybe it's just a matter of matching ink to pen. I really enjoy your reviews. Thank you.
Yeah, it can be. Lots of people work in offices where they can't control the paper that they use or they're writing on other people's paper, so it can be useful to know.
@@inkdependence It is good for drawing. I use it on thick kraft paper and then use gouache paint or markers. Writing on normal copy paper is a pain in the butt I have to agree
I’m searching for a new ink due to the carbon ink feathering issue. It only happens on some papers, and is subtle. I just tried DeAtramentis Document black ink. It had great flow, but on some papers, it isn’t nearly as dark as carbon ink.
Kenny Go it has pigment not die so can clog. If you use often enough it will not. If it does just rinse with water. The concern is on smaller pens E.G. the Platinum Desk Pen XF has two versions, reg and carbon. The latter for pigment inks. I use IG in the desk carbon. But use KWZ which is lower acid than reg IG. Also the gold plate helps with the acid. Register Ink is a higher acid than reg IG.
Kenny Go carbon ink, india ink, china ink are all same thing, just from less to more pigment content. China ink traditionally comes in sticks you mix with distilled for a lot of particle content.

Glad I could help! I think Kiwa Guro is superior to PCB, but lots of people like the PCB better.
Very nice and informative video. Thank you.
I use this ink in a Lamy Safari and it’s a lovely ink to use, especially with water colour

Thinking of getting platinum carbon as my ink of choice for brush pen.
Great review. I got this ink recently and it's easily the worst behaving ink I have. I guess I will have to try the Kiwa Guro next!
Interesting review. I didn’t realize that performance on copy paper was such an important element for some people.

Sadly most of my business relations use atrocious paper, whenever I have to sign something I always have to put away my flex pen and take out the EF

A rub with a pumice stone is vg at removing ink stains from a finger.
What is better, a Faber castell black ink or the platinum black ink?
(I'm just looking for a very deep black ink)

Do Carbon ink is safe for FPs or a high maintenance ink?

Are there a lot different between this and aurora black?
How do you like this compared to the GvFC?
I think the GvFC inks are superior in most cases.
Is this considered an iron gall ink?
Thanks for the review, I will stay away.
