- The ULTIMATE question.... Which crab is better?? Is it the tasty clean SAND CRAB? (also known as blue swimmer) OR? Is it the robust finger crushing MUD CRAB? Let's go catch some of these crabs and pit them against each other for TASTE and EXCITEMENT to catch.

Love eating Sandies but Muddies are fun to try and catch up the Bribie passage 😊
The first couple of times I caught the blue Sand Crabs , I threw them away. I kept on catching them, so I decided to cook a couple. My goodness, I was blown away as to the quality and taste of the Blue crab, it was awesome, so I did not throw any more back. NT. Gulf of Carpentaria, Vanderlin Island. 2011.
Pays to try everything at least once 😅 would’ve been an amazing trip up there. Some beautiful country in that part of the country.
@@BrisVegasFishing This trip was a great learning experience for me, with so many firsts. It was so awesome looking at the land from the sea as I sailed along. My GPS Log showed 1,200 kms at the end.

Glad you enjoyed it mate 🤙 I got those pots from Charltons, they’re a 1000mm crab’n’gear pot. So you can find them from another stockist. Good size though.
To me all are good, I just need to catch some. Cheers good story 😀

when i was young id say the claws of the muddies were the go, but these days the sandies are my go to. They are much sweeter and much better value for your buck

You call them Sandies, in WA we call them Blue Manners and way better eating than muddies and get this, way better than Crayfish!

I agree with you. Sandies are sweeter, but more fiddly to clean. Muddies definitely more fun to catch!

After crabbing for many years lately with this run of blue swimmers there ganna get my vote and I find them easier to clean and the missues makes a mean pasta too!

Great video mate! Very cool seeing all those crabs walking in the shallows. I agree with you - muddies are definitely good for the amount of meat you get. But sandies are so sweet 🤤👌 I definitely wouldn’t say no to either of them though 😉
It’s hard to say no to either 😂 definitely a good topic of debate. Still more fun walking for them using pots.
I know lots of people like the taste of sandies and find them sweeter, but to me nothing beats the juicy claw of a muddy fresh off the boil
It’s hard to go past a freshly cracked muddy claw, still warm inside 🤤 my favourite too

I honestly don't know how to target them but Coral Crab get my vote. Have only ever caught them as by catch

I love the fat in mudcrabs , it's awesome on fresh buttered bread . We called it crab gravy.

Love catching both of them but I can't eat them due to being highly allergic . Sucks for me but a win for my gf and daughters

@@BrisVegasFishing Sweet iv never tried down that far for crabs . normally stick to the logan for crabs and cruse down the pin to fish . might bring a few pots down next run
