Why Child PRODIGY Julian Newman FAILED to Make the NBA (Or even College). In this video I talk about julian newman and how good I believe that he actually is and whether I think that he will make it to college basketball or not. I also talk about the reasons why julian newman could be the start of a slippery slope for high school basketball in the mixtape era. Julian newman has been in the spotlight for years as he played varsity basketball as a 4 foot 5 11 year old. Julian newman is arguably the most hyped 11 year old of all time. I personally am not a fan of his attitude or julian newmans dad but his talent is incredible however his impact is not. The problem is his height, he is extremely small at 5 foot 7 and may not grow. For this reason it is unlikely that he makes it to the nba.

@@neoak47peno82 tell that to Isaiah Thomas who is 5'9 and currently on the Charlotte Hornets. And dont forget: players like Kyrie Irving & Fred Vanvleet are like 6'0 even, but both of them are NBA champions and were making shots & breaking ankles of players who were 6'9. (And do i need to remind you of Allen Iverson, who is 5'11?)
While height is a big factor to make it in the NBA, its not the **only** factor. if that was the case, only the teams with the absolute tallest players would *always* win all the time. its about knowing HOW to use your height to your advantage. Julian stupidly thought he could just drive the ball straight into 7-foot players & he wondered why he always got blocked. Julian had no playmaking skills or IQ, and he was too selfish. He barely even passed the ball to teammates who were wide-open. its no wonder why no coaches wanted him as a point guard.

the odds of a 5'6 guy making it in the NBA are super low, could be possible if you're a freakish athlete though + you can play. Funny thing is Nate Robinson and Isiah Thomas are both 5'9, and they would look big compared to Julian Newman, those guys could play 1v1 with Julian Newman and it would look like a 6'2 point guard being guarded by LeBron

One of the main issues of Julian Newman is not his height or his father… It was basically that he never learned how to be a true point guard.
Tyrone “Muggsy” Bogues was shorter than Julian Newman by standing 5’3, and he played 14 years in the NBA against some of the greatest basketball athletes of that time(The Jordan era) when the league was way more physical than it is now. Besides having good ball-handling skills, Muggsy had quickness, strength, speed, good court vision, defense, a good playmaker & scorer when needed, a high level of basketball IQ, a great passer, could run an offense, could start the break within seconds, got his players involved to score, a great teammate, leadership skills and most importantly, Point Guard IQ… Julian Newman has none of this.
Julian's father just worked him out, took him through drills, and exercise routines… but never taught him or had the knowledge of how to train Julian be a real Point Guard.
Julian Newmen is more of a “Showman”, then an actual professional basketball Point Guard. He’s more so focused on scoring and putting on a show then actually applying the skills & IQ in order to be a true point guard. I honestly feel that streetball leagues or Sports entertainment like the “Harlem Globetrotters“ will be more of a nitch for him rather than playing professional basketball.

He was good against players when he was 10-13 cause everyone was either his height or around his height. Once the boys started growing from 14-17 is when his downfall came and his game never changed once from 10-17. He stayed under 5’6 while everyone else grew to 6’0+ against him. Being under 5'10 in America is playing life on Expert mode.
Almost every major sport.. height is needed.
    NHL...NBA...NFL.
Even just regular life. The average CEO is 6ft. Security guards 6ft plus. Leading men in movies are 6ft plus. 90% of all comic heros are 6ft plus. WOLVERINE is 5'3 but played by Hugh Jackman who is 6'3.

I agree and I think things only get tough below 5'10." People online obsess over 6'0," but as long as you blend in with other men, you're fine (i.e., be 5'10" at least). I disagree with the movie part though. Wolverine was beautified in film for sure. On the other hand, Robert Downey jr is 5'8" and Tony Stark is well above 6'0." Peter Parker is like 5'10" and Tom Holland is 5'6" at best. Mark Ruffalo is much shorter than Bruce Banner. I'd say most leading actors are around average height, and their heights listed online are inflated also. Brad Pitt, Johny Depp, Tom Cruise, Robert Downey jr, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Zack Efron, James Franco, Joaquin Phoenix, Tom Hardy, Jake Gyllenhaal. That's just off the top of my head. There's way more very famous leading men in the 5'8"- 5'11" range than above 6'0." Plenty of dead ones too like Marlon Brando.

out front child prodigies never make it....its like the kid Jashaun Agosto from Seattle who had the same hype all his life thru high school...and it fizzled out. And like both, each didn't grow past 5-8 or so and thats a bit too small unless your head and shoulders like Nate Robinson.

He was very good as a kid. But the failure was his growth as a player, and LITERAL growth, was stunted by the bizarre, insane workouts from his father. Just let him be a kid but he didn't. As a dad you might want the best but sometimes it's fine to say "I taught him as much as I could, maybe he can learn more or I'm too biased to see other things." But ego and pride, living vicariously through your kid, etc. ultimately HURT him. I doubt his father pushed academics, classes and grades.
I dunno... I think it's SUPER sad. This guy will never get a chance to be 8 years old again. He'll never get another chance to do some things normal kids do in 5th or 6th grade even. And he didn't get to LEARN like a lot of kids. How often did he go to a library on a Saturday or evening? It's sad.

    Lol, he was all hype.
His dad clearly molded him using "And 1" streetball for reference. His attitude was encouraged, when it should have been reigned in. Terrible parenting and coaching from a dad who was nothing more than a bootleg version of Lavar Ball.

a decent future vid idea could be the fall of NickTheBullsFan. Bro went from a decent sized 2k channel in the mid 2010's (and made a commercial I think) to having a 24 hour waffle making stream last year. His personality completely changed and I think he must have stopped taking some medication.

Those standstills dribbling workouts are USELESS… he “looks” fast but he couldn’t drive past any half decent defenders. Also, he still have a shooting from like a middle schooler.
