Recently I sent an engine off for oil bath break in. When I have spare time, I prefer to break in engines myself. The tinkering and the noise are part of my enjoyment of the hobby. However, if I don't have time, I do send my engines off for oil bath break in. I think owning an oil bath set up for an individual would probably be pretty hard to justify. The oil bath services out there in most cases are very affordable. It's kind of like painting bodies. I enjoy painting bodies and when I have time, I always paint my own bodies. There are people out there that will paint an amazing body for $70. It really does not make much financial sense to paint your own bodies or break in engines yourself. I don't have much time to devote a day or weekend to racing a lot of the time. In order for me to get enjoyment out of the hobby I often have to find ways to enjoy the hobby in two hour or less segments of time. I agree it's far easier to send an engine off to oil bath break in, but breaking in a engine my self gives me a way to have a little nitro fun on a Saturday afternoon with out packing up all of my stuff and devoting the entire day to racing.
@@oakes4501 With break in, if you race every weekend and have mulcars and engines, breaking in the engine at home is the way to go, tim saver andoney saver, I was racing quite often, so for me it was a no brainer to do the break in myself. For the occasional racer or basher not so much.
A failed experiment. With out giving a very long winded explanation. I was trying to run the fuel pressure off of compressed air. I could not adjust or regulate it down low enough to work. I would estimate that from the exhaust you only get 1 or 2 PSI of fuel pressure. I could not get the regulator to go down lower than 5 and it would just flood the crap out of the engine.
When I get a chance I will have to mess with it some more. For the first few tanks of fuel you are not burning much of the fuel. What can happen is that gunky fuel can clog up the fuel pressure line going to the gas tank and then you can have a really hard time getting the engine to run. The compressed air for fuel pressure was to solve this problem. If I can find some spare time I will try to find a different regulator and install it. I only intend to run nitro truggy this season and Tekno has been taking their sweet time at releasing their new truggy. I may not be doing much nitro racing this next season.
Any chance of you sharing what your prop adapter looks like. Was your propeller adapter a cnc made part. Any details would be greatly appreciated.
If I get a chance I will try to make a video of it. It is a home made adapter that bolts to a modified Alpha fly wheel.
@@oakes4501 I'm sure we all will look forward to seeing your video. I thank you for even replying, wasn't sure the interest was still there.
Interest is still there. I have been super busy at work. I am really itching to do some racing.
That's awesome 👌 👏
Thanks ✌️
I made a setup similar to this, but now they have the heated pil bath break in..which is much less hassle as well can be done in the house.
