I used to play aau and thought I’d get more shine switching to a team that wasn’t as good as the one I was on and BOOOOOY was I in for a rude awakening. Yes I was the actual better player on said team but I had to do SO much more compared what I was doing on the better all around team. My energy was spent in less time since I was taking on more and I fizzled out lol

Only people who watched GS knew Poole was a turnover machine, played zero defense and thought he was better than what he actually was. None of this is surprising. He got his money and his chip and called it a career.

Yep he’d lose us game last year because he’d brick 30 foot step backs for literally zero reason. His issue is his basketball iq, he’s just kinda restarted. If he took better shots and had better awareness he’d be a decent efficiency 25 ppg guy.
I kept saying his problem was saying nah to a high % shot, then dribble it into a turnover. It was over when he stopped trying to win games.
As a Warrior fan/watcher it was tough, to see a guy play zero defense, but grin and ham it up if he made a highlight layup.... even if they were down by 20. He is not a serious player, only looking for personal attention.

Being the primary scorer on wizards which is a trash team compared to being second-third option on GSW which is a good team that got him a lot of good looks and open shots makes a huge difference. Damn. If Hoop Reports can’t see the upside..then it is looking bleak indeed. I still cherish the memories of him working through the G League, filling in for Klay, and then exploding with the Poole party and helping cement the Dub Dynasty with the 4th ring. And then came the punch..and this young man has been lost. It’s truly heartbreaking. I still wish him all the best. I hope he can collect himself, forget the bag and finds himself again.

I have actually seen this before, I'll give you an example Patrick McCaw, Patrick McCaw used to come Off the Bench for Stephen Curry. He did that for 2 years, then he went to the Toronto Raptors and was an expensive seat average 7 claps a game still got a ring because Kawhi Leonard. He has nothing to show for it afterwards, half of the problem was he was thinking that he could do better without Golden State. The problem players have, is the Stephen Curry effect! Stephen Curry pays attention to detail, so much that when he sees something of his teammates that could be fixed for better efficiency. He fixes it with them, he goes to the line and shows them how to do it. Stephen Curry has the ability to speak excellence into his teammates and that elevates their game. They have that confidence it has nothing to do with Draymond Green in the punch. However I would like to say that I don't think it was just Draymond Green, having an issue with Jordan Poole. I think it was actually the whole team but Draymond Green doesn't have the ability to hold back. In a way that would allow nonsense to continue, he's more of a tick Tick boom kind of guy. Jordan pool has amazing athletic ability but he is mentally not mature enough to handle pressure without a veteran leadership. Having four veterans including Andre Iguodala, allows the young player to be grounded. Despite being athletic, he was always a subpar defender and never really improved on that side of the ball. There are superstars in the league like Curry, Lebron, Jokic, Giannis and a couple more, then there are just normal stars like Dame... guys who put up amazing stats and highlights but are a tier below true superstar players.

JP is in the wrong role. He's an excellent backup PG who gives real quickness and scoring off the bench. When he'd come in halfway through the first for the Ws, it was a burst of scoring that could help put teams to bed by halftime. W's overpaid him then sent his contract to the dumbest team in the league who happily paid.

Jordan Poole was not wanted by the players on the Wizards team nor by the coaches. The wizards and coaches do not want to win games. They just want to shoot , keep their stats up, and keep their jobs. To do this, coaches, Kuzma, Avdija, Davis, Jones, and Kispert do not want Poole to outshine them. So, they keep Poole playing off the ball and running around the court!
Poole focuses on working on himself, improving his basketball skills, and maximizing the opportunities to play his game when they come to him, assist the other players, get rebounds, and make shots when he gets the ball on a team that enjoys losing games. He helps the new players adjust to finding their NBA identity and adjust to playing in the NBA. As usual, the UA-cam podcasters enjoy criticizing and putting down Poole to get likes and increase subscribers, not caring they are giving out false information on Poole!
When the time comes Poole will join the right team for him or the Wizards will start building a team that compliments Poole's talents, gifts, skills, and players who want to win games, become champions,
and win divisional and national championships! Poole will be ready when these opportunities come to Poole, and they will! But Poole will not allow basketball wannabes control him and force him to play low level 80s and 90s basketball styles! Poole is a NBA pioneer new era player! He moves at a slower pace on teams that do not want to change and accept the new way to play basketball like the Timberwolves, Thunder, Celtics, and Lakers who are playing with a mix of veteran and younger players on the team focused on to winning games !
Poole's problem is that he believes he doesn't need to listen to anybody.
In 3 years? Poole and Thanasis need to start a podcast called "Participation Trophy Champs".

i don’t think jordan wanted to drive the bus immediately but i think he knew that since he could not get over the punch, it was him or draymond. and even more than that, he knew they were gonna choose draymond. so i saw the 2022-2023 season as him just trying so desperately to convince golden state to choose him and not dray. but come on. any person who knows ball understands how invaluable draymond is to golden state and there was absolutely no way they were gonna let him go for a guard who CAN score but is an absolute negative on defense, especially with the abundance of guards with the same skillset in the league. it was an unfortunate situation for him, truly. but at the end of the day, the team takes precedence and i like where golden state is at right now.
obviously jordan expected to get the keys to golden state once steph retires, and he definitely was being groomed to do so. again, it was a me or him situation, but golden state still betrayed him and discarded him to the wizards. if i was him and i saw everything that was mine and will be mine get taken away like that, i would have been in a horrible place mentally as well. sure he has a $128 million contract, but the love for the game isn’t there anymore and it shows. but i don’t blame him one but. as his former fan though, it would be great to see him overcome this hurdle.
A lot of players talk about how starting a family helped to ground them. Even LeBron talked about having kids improved his mental health. I’m not saying he needs have kids out of the blue but maybe he should start thinking of himself as a caregiver and not a care taker and that will help to mature his mindset. I think men need responsibility to be grounded and successful sometimes.
