6Years later you fixed my problem. Thank you
Duuude, you're a life saver.. I had the the same issue, just fixed it. I was saying to myself "how is noone complaining about the close focusing, there must be something I'm missing" lol. This was it! Thanks for sharing
I'm using -> Viltrox NF-M43x 0.71x
7 years later you still fix my problem. Thank you alot
Thank you so much! Fixed my NF-M43 adapter. Now it's working fine with the sigma 18-35. Almost took me a 360 turn too.
I cant tell you how helpful this is, I was just about to send this off to repair, and I found that, that screw is missing and the glass had slipped down, simply rotating it back and locking it into place, and its back to normal. Really helpful, thanks for taking the time to make the video Aleksandar.
You are welcome!
Gold! Thanks mate, not being able to focus was doing my head in and your answer saved me from selling my Metabones speed booster.
Thanks, Alexander. You delivered where the importer into Europe could not.
Wow I thought it would be some kind of over-complicated mechanical procedure, now I know how to fix it! Thanks dude!
Thank you!! This helped my focusing issue not focusing infinity. My lens element was super loose. Now it is tight.
You are the only one that help me with this situation ! Thank you so much man !!!!! God sent 🙌🏾
Thanks so much! I had the same issue and was scratching my head about what was wrong. I really appreciate you taking the time to make the tutorial :)
This worked on my gh5 with a new viltrox .71x(nikon F mount) and a sigma 18-35 that wouldn't focus beyond 15ft. Now I focus from a few inches through infinity. Very happy :) The viltrox comes with a small screw driver to do this but no instructions :/
how is experience with Viltrox? I am going to buy GH5 and confused to buy between metabones and viltrox but of course metabones too costly as well. Please suggest. I have canon mount lenses actually.
Used this method to make my Sigma 18-35mm with Speedbooster Ultra parfocal on my GH5. Works like a charm.
hey how did you do that?
Thank you so much dude! I was searching all over the web for this turtorial. My vello EF to E speedbooster is also like this and I was almost about to send this in. I didn't want to because I got this on a lightning deal for $99 instead of $650 MSRP, and I knew something was off - such a big manufacturer would not be so careless! Again, thank you, you just saved me a couple hundred dollars and you now have a new subscriber!
Glad it helped! Enjoy!
Thank you so much for this fix! Finally I have a sharp image from the Vello EF to NEX adapter which I always thought was just soft. 3 turns in and all became clear at infinity. Thanks for your help.
thank you! worked beautifully. I thought both of my Viltrox focal reducers were defective. That was so easy to adjust.
I was about to sell my Vello accelerator/adapter and this video saved me
Me too!
Thanks so much! For the longest fine I thought my one lens was messed up. Then I thought another one messed up. After watching this I learned it was my speed booster. Quick adjustment and we’re good! Thanks again!
Fix for Speedbooster XL: The right screw is located at the side of the Speedbooster XL - beneath
the Metabones Logo - in a recessed hole. Fixed all my Infinity Focus
Issues: Tamron 24-70 / Samyang 14mm etc
Hi Nils, how are you? I'm trying to fix my Speedbooster XL at the moment, but I have no luck. could you tell me where's the right screw to adjust it.
thanks
Do you have to readjust the rear element if you switch to another lens which didn't have an issue in the first place?
Really thinking about the same. Have you figured out the answer yet?
Thank you sooo much for making my adapter useful at last......
I just tried your solution and it wound up transforming the + on the screw into a big O :D At the end, I just had to move the glass on the frontal part, and it worked!! Hello from Germany!!
if you remove the glass, you do not get the benefits of the focal reducer. The focal reducer/speed booster compensates for the APS-C sensor size when using older lens on the camera. 55mm 1.8 x 1.5 crop = 83mm 2.7 (without focal reducer). 55mm 1.8 x 1.5 crop x 0.72 focal reducer = 58mm 1.8-ish (With the focal reducer/speed booster)
@@acoulte8072 Yes, I know. I meant that I didn't need to untight the screw (because I had already broken it) but only needed to move the glass and it worked. The glass is still there. Now, I got the problem that when I am on 17mm, focus to infinity and then move the zoom to the 50mm, it doesn't stay focused.
Well done! This video was really helpful, thanks!
Cheers dude. Very helpful. Ill try it on my Gh5 and viltrox. All the best from Ireland.
Thanks You very much...very helpful....I just get Samyang 10mm for EOS and Can not Infinity...Its work....
thank you Roman, i just fixed my speedbooster
Thanks, mate. Very helpful.
Viltrox has changed the Viltrox EF M2! Please compare your Viltrox EF M2 with the one shown in this video: If they are different do not loosen the little screw on the camera side. On the new model you can adjust the position of the speedbooster lens by screwing it with your fingers, on the side where the canon lens will be attached.
Yeah same here, so our newer model can be hand adjusted on the lens side?
Yes!
I just did it! I kept trying to twist it until it worked. I tried first the screw solution, but I just screwed the screw.
Perfect! It worked on viltrox nf-m43x. Thanks man!!!
Duuude.. I had the the same issue, just fixed it. I was saying to myself "how is noone complaining about the close focusing, there must be something I'm missing" lol. This was it
@Anas El Ghazi Hi, you need to turn it anti clock, and try diferent position, I dont know exactly how many degrees, and I have a lumix gh4 so maybe its not the same.
Awesome video. Thanks for taking the time to make it! I have the same Viltrox focal reducer for FD to XF lenses.
+Ryan Merrill Glad it helped You!
And are u liking that? I want to buy a x-t4 and use my canon ef lens on that. But I m afraid of having inssues about the vignette, and loss or sharpenning.
Fixed my ef-fx2, thanks so much!
Excellent video, thanks for sharing this! I subbed too (I'm a MTBer and ex comp road racer!)
Welcome!
Thank you, total life saver!!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Great resource and knowledge! Just a quick question, once you fixed this issue did it work for all lenses? Im assuming you just have to adjust the lens inside it to match your camera's sensor distance.
it worked for all, only downside is you can loose close focus if you overdo it, but you will manage to reach infinity
Pretty comprehensive information.. thanks man 👍
Thank U so much 🙏
🤝from indonesia 🇮🇩
you are a legend did the 360 all my Nikon glass now works including Rokeinon 14mm and my Tamron 18/400 zoom. Why doesn't the manufacture adjust as standard?
Who knows, probably for cheaper manufacturing
Thanks buddy! Awesome tutorial!
Very helpful. But curious if this would need to be done with every different lens used on the speed booster?
Once you do it, you fix the factory wrong focus and it should work with every good lens.
Great video, thank you!!
THANKS MAN,,,,,,THANKS A LOT
Awesome man! Thank you so much, works perfectly!
Great video super helpful
Thanks for this video. Question: how do you know if you've rotated the lens too far? How do you know when infinity focus is set correctly?
well you put on a lens and try to focus to infinity
@@AleksandarRoman and at that point, if the furthest objects are in focus, then I know it's correct? Clarification: if I have focus peaking on and I focus to infinity, how will I know if it's correct? My adapter was not focusing far enough. Is it just if really far objects are in focus?
@@jseboudoir try it and look on bigger screen
@@jseboudoir yes, it's for everything past 50m in focus
Thanks for share
Amazing thanks
How to do this with a Viltrox NF Speedbooster? It looks like there's no screw to adjust on this model
not sure then, maybe try rotating or twisting, but I'm not optimistic it will work
I like your tutorial very good!
Bravo !!!
you save my day thank you 👍
Hi. I've been notice some lubrificant oil around glass adapter. It's ok or there's something wrong with my unit?
its fine since there is oil from factory so it moves smooth. wipe it and don't worry
Do you have issues from the lens after using the viltrox speedbooster for a long time? Becoz my canon lens Tamron 28-75mm F2.8, got loud sound from the apature blade. Everytime I turn the apature, there's sound from the blade. And suddenly my Canon 50mm F1.8 STM sometimes have sound from the blade too, when you want to focus, sometimes the apature blade like closing for a moment, and open again. Its weird, its like the adapter make my apature blade broken.
And thanks for this video 👍🏻
I didn't have those problems but it does really sound like adapter problem. If you are able to update it (newer version) do it. If not so, I would still not worry much about it, if it does the job!
You are my hero!!!
Thanks for making this video. I was able to move the glass and now I can focus at a certain focal length, but when I zoom out like you did in your video it goes out of focus.I am using the Sigma 18-35 with the GH5. Is it suppose to stay in focus throughout the entire zoom? Should I keep turning the glass? Any suggestions? Thanks again.
I don't think the 18-35 is parfocal, so there won't be any position in which it will stay perfectly in focus in the whole zoom range.
John Twigt thanks! I had read it was and saw a video showing that it in fact is parfocal. Going to run some test with my copy again.
In video I did digital zoom, so don't worry. You did all the job. As John said, it isnt parfocal so its normal
Thanks for the clarification.
Then. could you fix it? Do you recomend the combo?
Great
you save my day
If I keep rotating, can I remove that glass from the adapter? I want to buy one speedbooster, but if I sa some vignete I really want to remove that glass to use only as a adapter.
you can remove that element, but to remove all elements you must proceed further disassembly
Great help. Thanks.
Is there any way to cleaning the glass of metabones speedbooster from fungus?
not on this way, here we can remove only rear element
Sigma 18-35 good focus. Tokina 11-16 no infinity. I rotate to maximum
Greetings, Thanks for the video! Do you find the viltrox vignetting on the corners a bit? I find this happening on a canon 24-105l mkI and my sony FS5.
Hello!
Yes, it has a little bit of vignetting, even metabones has some. Also some fringing is greater on both, but it all can be corrected in post (sometimes with minor damage) But overall I think it is a good product. Thanks for watching!
3:03 Ghost'n'Ghost - Coconut Mystery
Thank you!
Thanks for your video! But does this make close up focus impossible..ie. is it one focusing distance or the other or does it still allow for minimum close up focus through to infinity through all lenses' focal range? Thank you
It allows it to go across whole range.
Aleksandar Roman thank you!
Bravo! Thanks man!
i have the same issue as yours when i mounted my pentax 28mm to my fuji cam. but i have the Pixco brand.thanks for the video anyway. it solved the infinity issue but my concern was still it reaches the glass element on the speed booster it just allowed some space inorder for the lens to be pushed when you focus to infinity. do you have this kind of issue also? my concern was if the rear element keeps touching the glass of the SB maybe sooner than expected it will create unwanted scratches.
dan barry I have heard about this when trying to mount some pentax directly to canon, so it is the same thing with the speedbooster. So I think it doesnt to have anything with booster unfortunately its just adviced to avoid that kind of lenses who reach in to the sensor/glass.
yeah, you said it right. i might be better of using those dumb adapters and will be using my speedboosters to other brands of legacy lens.
I cannot find a screwdriver that fits the settings screw on the original metabones speedbooster! What did you guys use? I tried a 1.0 and a 0.8mm. I can't find anything smaller than that! Have you got any tip? It's so frustrating!
Sebastiano Dell'Eva dunno if you figured it out but a .8 flathead will do
Then you have the 2nd version. Just twist the black bezel around the glass.you can do it by hand
@@michaelcoopermedia3643 Hi Thanks! it was a long time ago, but i indeed had the first version. I bought a very sharp small screwdriver from a watch repair shop and it was all good. I also don't own it anymore!
hello i lost the infinity screw where can i bye it ? does it work without ?
Hi , i cannot do it with my viltrox nf-m43x , any solution ?
I have a problem where now becuase the infinity got knocked outta whack and my sigma 18-35 wont even slide easily on it anymore. Actually doesnt do a full turn to be aligned correctly so its unusable
so just do it inverse
@@AleksandarRoman thts wht i tried. But ive done every possible spot. And the lens doesnt even click in. Its crazy. Im begging for someone to help me over the phone or even video call. Ud be rlly helping out so u can see the issue its soo weird
@@AleksandarRoman i cld send video of it too if u willing to see n help
@@soundistraveling of course If I can help. send it to roman@snimanje.rs thanks
do you or anyone else know if this fix also works on a nikon N/F > MFT Speedbooster Ultra? There's the hole with the screw but as i unscrew it, the lens element is still stuck. it moves just slightly not even a millimeter so i wonder if the nikon speedbooster is ever designed to be infinity adjusted. ah yeah talking about metabones
Since I saw this in metabones datasheet, it should work but I can't guarantee
With the Viltrox I own, the ring did not spin. It did however pop in and out. I was able to push it out more, secure it and it fixed my infinity focus problems.
Glad that you did find solution!
Michael Desiderio same here there is a screw but after loosen it turbo2 won't spin
Michael Desiderio ah I see so should I try to push it out more?)
Hello, have you the Viltrox NF-M43X ?
My screw when tightened still doesn't stop the element. What is the size screw so I can replace the screw?
Really sorry that I cannot find specification to see the size. Is it possible to use it without tightening full. I know its not smart, but probably it wont move by itself
So say I only have one lens that needs this adjustment , would I have change it back again for other my lenses?
In that case I would say it is problem in that single lens. check out if its maybe sigma, they have dock stations to fix focus, or on any other that might have "tuning" to fix it
Aleksandar Roman what I'm actually trying is a MD-EF pass through adapter on top an EF speed booster
freebearride for sure then try to correct that single lens
I have a turbo 2 there is that screw but I couldn't turn it
Which one is yours?
Mars Channel this is viltrox, 99% same screws as on metabones and fotodiox
Unfortunately I'm in the same situation with my Lens Turbo II
might be glued or something... spanner wrench might be needed here
Omg thank you!
Thanks man
Thanks ..
Hey man. I lost my screw. Is it a big problem if there is no screw in it? I have to say I couldn't possibly move the glasswork like you did.
then probably won't be problem
thanks!
Hai Aleksandar i also hade this problem metabone speed boster i returned it to the foto store and had my Money back but my speedboster dide not have the cpu contact like Yours wil it stil have the adjusting scru on the side of the Mount if yes i wil og and purchasing it back
I dont know, you should've took a look
hi! is it also possible to remove the optic and use the adapter without it? have you tried? thnaks
That is just a waste of money, you have cheap adapters which are not boosters.
Hello Aleksandar Roman. I have Speedbooster 0.64 XL EF-MFT but this way dont working because as I spin to the right, the sharpness gets even worse, and to the left I can only rotate somewhere by 5 degrees, more can not be: / I have this issue with very wide lens, like Samyang 14mm and Tokina 11-20. Please help :(
To get it to infinity you should spin to the left, im pretty sure you should be able to turn it more since that is the way of unscrewing it.
thanks
what kind of screwdriver did you use. I have a 1mm screw and it's too big.
0.8 flathead
I got this problem with a Samyang/Rokinon 8mm T3.8 Cine UMC Fisheye CS II Lens for Canon EF Mount.
If i make that change, will i have to change it again for other lens already working fine?
+Yoel Diamante of course not. Just dont focus past the infinity mark, since many lenses can go further which is missed focus
thanks Aleksandar.
thanks. i loose the screw and tried to turn counter clock, but is hard... i will try again after some more research.
Does this method correct also corner sharpness?
Well focus is one thing, if lens is not that sharp it has nothing to do with it.
speedbooster has only one lens or more?
I think one but thick
pls help me sir..i just have the viltrox ef m2 with sigma 18-35..i got infinity focus issues..i’ve loosen the small screw..but i can’t turn it..it wont move..i just can turn the front glass..not back glass..pls help me
Does it effect focus ability also? I think it could do the same thing.
Aleksandar Roman yes sir...im using peaking focus setting with high..but when trying to get the focus far object..there is no peaking in subject..all look soft and blurry
Aleksandar Roman what should i do..any tips?
Try turning the front one. Otherwise i cannot tell since i didnt have experience with version 2
is there two glass in the adapter and you remove the glass from adapter easily because i have some damage in glass of me adapter and i wont to Replace only the glass
What kind of screw is that? Mine is missing!!!
I'm not sure which thread is. Try searching in comments or wait someone to answer
Does this also fix the back focus?
Just do it reverse and it should 😊
I've the viltrox m2. I use it combined with canon 50 1.4 and lumix gh5 and does not focus at infinity. Did someone try to fix it with this camera and lens?Thank you for the help!
Marco Iacobelli Having the same exact problem here.

oh ok, wasnt sure, hello from Scotland
Hello :)
this fix is not good for Viltrox EF-M2 :(
Ciao, ho scritto anch'io qua, vediamo magari qualcosa salta fuori :)
It's ok, you can turn the ef m2 by hand without the screw
Thank you !
