  • This video demonstrates how I made this modern wooden iPad or tablet stand using some 1/2" thick 4 inches wide poplar from the craft wood section of my local home improvement store. I made it as a Christmas gift for my daughter and I'm sharing it here as you might find it easy enough to churn out on Etsy or your local craft market.

Thanks for the video! Simple and very useful. The 60 degree miter cut threw me for a loop, because my miter saw only goes up to 45 degrees. Luckily found a neighbor with a saw that can do that and was able to build the stand out of a scrap piece of plywood, and use it everyday. Don't have clamps, but used painter's tape to hold the pieces in place, and that worked out well.

Great idea! I'm wondering, with that back piece being so long, do you think it will hold with just glue? Your glue surfaces weren't very large, do we need to tack it somehow? Thanks for the nifty idea and sharing the measurements! Definitely going to try it!

I thought about that myself. It turns out from daily usage, the glue alone is strong enough. I could shoot an 18ga brad for added strength. Thanks so much for watching.

Wtf? No saw goes to 60 degrees.
