A lot more romance in the music back then. I was 15 at the time. The young Ladies didn't melt down so much then, but I think most of them really wanted a guy to love them that much. Nowadays they hear Mick Jagger telling them he'll never be their beast of burden. Today's Ladies want to be loved the same way as back in the day, but to hear it expressed this way is something they aren't used to. So it hits harder. .. I'm 71 now...I used to have a woman I loved that much. She's gone now.....but not really, not as long as I can remember her.
It’s so heartwarming to see these young women loving the music of the Righteous Brothers like we did when it first came out when I was in high school. I think we wore the grooves out of this album lol
Those lines were written by the brilliant Cynthia Weil of the husband and wife songwriting team of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. It's no accident that women respond to this powerful lyric written by a woman - specifically to be sung by Bill and Bobby. Bobby Hatfield and Cynthia are both gone but I hope that Bill and Barry see this video. I'm sure it would touch them deeply.

Oh, men are paying attention. You want men to get down on their needs for you. But you women are not listening. The man will get on their knees for you IF you love him like you used to do. Love him like you used to do.
What is up with the hate - that women dont agree with the second line? I didn't see any of these women recoil from that line, and now did I. I see a man desperately trying to convey how much he loves her, that she means so much he will get in his knees to show her. How much he wants her love back. Sexist crap some of you spewin.
After watching this maybe the feminists and sjw's were wrong. It was a better time when men were men and women were women. When men made their women the center of their universe things were better. That's my opinion and Im sticking to it. If Im wrong why are these women reacting like this to a song that's well over 50 years old?
You are,of course, entitled to your opinion, just like everyone else. I would argue that great music will be heard over the years. When women are treated as another person's reason for existing, it doesn't allow them to be human, which includes making mistakes and poor choices in life. Why does others life choices concern you so much? Aren't we supposed to treat everyone with respect, as we would like to be treated?
I’m a Baby Boomer, born 1950. I still love all the music from my era. Now days, I hear that expression a lot -“when men were men and women were women”. I notice it’s ALWAYS men that say it. It sucked being female back then. We couldn’t get credit, serve on jury duty, go to military academy or Ivy League school, get decent birth control, or practice law. Clothing styles were horrendous-girdles, pencil skirts, perms, Aqua Net, garter belts, sanitary belts, and dresses only allowed at school, even in winter. And before the EEOC, women were not hired (sometimes fired) if they were pregnant or had small kids, couldn’t report sexual harassment, were paid less-the list goes on. I will take the tatts, piercings, ripped jeans, sexual identity crises, purple hair, and ball busting cougars in size 20 leopard leggings and UGG boots ANY day over that crap 50-60 years ago. At least we are comfortable because women no longer think they have to dress, speak, act, and talk the way men want us too.
