U can't show confidence to narcissist person or overpower them because they will stop showing narcissist behavior as u said
but slowly slowly they will start planning and just end the relationship or do something totally different. This thing u don't know.
No matter how hard u try u cannot change it.
One thing which can also stop narcissist behavior is entry of 3rd person in that relationship .
We can change ourselves and the situation. No need to change them.

I never knew that these kind of people exist but then got married last year and my husband and his mother are narcissists. They create chaos all the time. One thing i have noticed they will try to trap you from every where. His mother didn't allow me to have proper food and my husband didn't me eat from outside. These things always they used to do.

With my little knowledge nd living with my narc wife fr 8 yrs.
1. always write down the incident nd send it to a secret mail id.
2. never share ur financials, if they scream, ask them to get court order
3. never share ur plans, do everything in secret, if they find out, just say that he/she would spoil the plan
4. try nt to argue anything, ull always loose.
5. try to get them into an argument nd record her tantrum, u being calm nd ask questions in that argument, she will spill beans
6.everything she does has a purpose, so try to read between the lines
7. never raise ur hand on that person, she will use it against u
8. if she threatens to leave, tell them calmly.. Ok

Anyone can, that is an impulsive act based on trauma and lack of self control.
1. Never accept their mistake. They are always right in their conciousness.
*NPD- Narcissist Personality Disorder.
2. If you cannt avoid a narcissist person Never take their actions personally.
3. Draw and enforce a boundary for specific situation and shut off the conversation at that moment.
4. Take a note of their gaslighting behaviour and use it while confrontations. It should be conveyed that their actions are being observed.
5. Be more confident than the narcissist person. Work on yourself and boout self morale.
*Its a slow prosess, changes are slow, be patient
