"On my business card, I am a corporate President, in my mind I am a game developer, but in my heart, I am a gamer." -Saturo Iwata 2005 May you rest in peace. We'll all miss you.
I'd forgotten how good Iwata's English was! Many Japanese developers might only speak one sentence in English with a couple of mistakes and a translator for the rest. Iwata goes up there and just speaks with barely any hesitation! RIP. You are a legend now.
I don't know why, but a president just telling the fans in broken english "Last night, I played Super Smash. Brothers" is the most cute thing ever. He was trying so hard to make people relax, laugh, just have fun, and he succeeded. He was a genuine guy who was trying his best, not losing the focus on his mission (make Nintendo successfull) but at the same time being a lovable person, a genuine boss which people could love. It looked like he genuinely loved his work and wasn't faking it, he really wanted to have a relation with the fanbase. He is an example not only for the videogame industry, but for every president industry out there. He perfectly understood that games have to be good and top quality, but at the same time FUN. That's what I, as someone who would like to work in the gaming industry, think too. Name just one other president who said something like "As a father, I know it is important to play outside and live out of videogames" like he did. He believed in his industry and wanted to evolve: and he probably did it.
Iwata also cut his salary in half when the Wii U wasn't doing too well instead of firing employees to cover losses. He really was one of a kind, we didn't deserve him.
@@pit2992 Speaking English with an accent is not 'broken English' it's merely English spoken with an accent. It's entirely possible for people to speak fluent English, just with a heavy accent. The phrase 'broken English' means English spoken by a foreigner which contains errors, such as in the grammar, sentence structure, word order, words used in the wrong context, etc. I am a native English speaker and it was obvious to me that Mr Iwata's English was perfect, contained no errors of any kind and therefore by definition is *not* broken English.

That's one sweet teaser I didn't see back then. Makes ya realize just how much potential the Wiiimote (+MotionPlus) and Nunchuck combo still has, especiallly when paired with the power of the Wii U. Well, that and a bit of playing around with a Bluetooth dongle and GlovePIE anyway.
If you think about it, the Wii did started a "Revolution". It made millions of people that were strangers to videogames start getting involved with them and they also expanded the market of videogames considerably. The Revolution was so big, that Sony and Microsoft had to make something similar.
This video just popped up in my recommended... and it was uploaded 13 years ago... and I actually remember a ton of this stuff. Man I miss being a kid and foaming over the mouth over the Wii. Well, I guess I'm doing that now with the future Switch games anyway! Definitely an unexpected but amazing nostalgia trip!
What an exciting time this was. This is when Nintendo Changed the game, literally and brought people like me back to gaming. Now I own a ps3 and a 360 too, along with the wii :)
Myamoto deserves all of the respect in the world for continuing to come to these conferences at his increasing age. He seems like a kid at heart, and I can't help but have admiration for that. Above all, him and his developers are the smartest around. Rather than relying on graphics like everybody else, they use cheaper technology so that they can actually ... make a profit ... something both Sony and Microsoft failed to do with consoles and addons.
Valla que se optaron los mandos gris, verde y amarillo. El verde se cambio por la de luigi y el amarillo por el de Zelda Skyward Sword. Además ese conector era enorme. Siempre será así. Optan todo y lo te diseñan.

Both of them
i just realized that this video came out before the wii holy shit
This video is so old, that “My body is ready” wasn’t created yet
I honestly never seen the Revolution reveal trailer before, and that was amazing!!! Defiantly better than the Wii U reveal
That was actually the reveal of the Revolution's _controller_, and it wasn't at E3. I think it was at TGS (Tokyo Game Show).
Defiantly😂
Reggie and Mr. Iwata, we loved you.
