I strongly feel music would make an amazing prescription of medicine for our brains, whether you delight by dancing to music, singing along to it, relaxing to it, even trying to challenge your brain by recalling lyrics to songs you new perhaps long ago. I volunteer for an amazing club for people living with all kinds of dementia, and the light in their soul just beams when they sing and recall remarkably the lyrics, and connection to music and song. GOD BLESS to all whom may read this 🌸❤️🙏
Re movement . I cycle a lot and found that simply walking alongside my cycle in quiet places becomes a mindfulness experience. It's about having 4 points of connection with the earth, I feel. Tension in the solar plexus lessens massively and it feels blissful. Ps. Animals are less aware of my presence and I've come across a hare quietly loping along the path, elsewhere a young hare sat on the road in front of me believing itself invisible, stoats and weasels sometimes appearing too. Utterly delightful.
Thank you Liz 🫶🏼, always so informative. I have read your new book 🙌🏼🤩, and have recommended it to other like minded women that I know will love it . I have become quite obsessed in my 54 th year on becoming the healthiest and happiest version of myself yet , it’s a journey I’m absolutely loving , thank you for providing such a wealth of information that has guided me and so many others along the way ❤️✨
I agree with all your points. For me, HRT essential, low carbohydrate, high fat, meat and fish proper human diet, high quality Vit D3 K2, iodine and magnesium supplements, Qigong and walking in the woods. This strategy has helped my thyroid function and Autism symptoms.
My diet is similar to yours!!!! Along with Yoga, weight training, hrt, key supplements and having woods and fields all around us with alot of wildlife. It is so important to connect with nature :*) May I ask you what the high fats are in your diet?
Leaving toxic relationships is the best thing you can do for your brain, then the real self worth follows,.followed by solitude, meditation, journalling, walking, cycling, yoga, getting off social media (brain feels better everytime) eating an ancestral diet (Veganism nearly killed me) prioritise and sleep well definitely, learn to say no, cos being a people pleaser gets taxing, enjoy your own company, cuddle a pet, and don't over work (cos noone will thank you for it anyway) noone needs to burn out, basically do everything that's awesome to you, and you only! 😊
Sadly, sleep is one thing we can’t choose to get. I’m 60 and have had insomnia all of my adult life (I can also remember as a child struggling). I slept last night as I took amitriptyline. I can only take this 2-3 nights a week and it gives me nightmares. I worry a lot about getting dementia. The other things you mention are choices but sleep isn’t.
You have just described me. I feel your pain. Last night I had around 2 hours sleep. It's been a life long struggle. Also had Amitriptyline, now take Zopiclone when allowed. Even been on sleep courses.
@@carolbenton2121 Awful, isn’t it? At my worst, in my 30s, I used to get about 8 hours a WEEK. I’ve had to do so many important things on no sleep - driving test, getting married, exams etc. I don’t really know how I’ve got through life!
It is Elaine. I take it you've tried all the usual advice. I find sometimes it's difficult to get out of the anxiety/depression cycle that lack of sleep can cause. On those rare occasions when I get good sleep and don't feel tired, I feel I can take on the world.
I am a caregiver to my loved one with mixed dementia, I have to meet his needs daily I have very little time for myself the demands on me are great I am retired and try to fit in your helpful recommendations However I have to take on all tasks along with the demands of being a caregiver day in day out.Time for myself is rare!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I don’t sleep because of chronic pain. Ive been on HRT for half my life now. I have taken a good quality omega fish oil for a long time now. I dont know what else to do I cant get comfortable had so many surgeries for Endometriosis. I will try cold water therapy. Just started dancing learning new steps and signed up for bellydancing😀😀😀. I will have a go at anything☺️☺️☺️☺️
Thank you, I have shared this video widely! I’m in my 40s and have recently been teaching myself to handstand. A lesson I’m overcoming fears and self limiting beliefs as well as hopefully improving brain plasticity… I’ve been following you for a while now and you are a total inspiration! 🙏🙏🙏 Would you recommend a generic omega 3 fish oil over cod liver oil?
Thanks for these great shorts! Very useful. I learnt recently that progesterone is very important for brain health & it’s not just for protecting the lining of the womb! May be thoughts on that? X
What are your thoughts on the vegan version of Omega 3, to give vegetarians and vegans a direct supply of important EPA & DHA from natural algae? Biocare offer this as an option
Regarding fish oils - the fish eat algae which is where they get the omega oils from, you can consider using vegan capsules which come from farmed algae. These are free from the risk of heavy metal contaminants. Also, if we all eat the amount of fish recommended it would be a totally unsustainable quantity, depleting fish stocks that are already under huge pressure. Something to consider.
I am vegetarian and looking for a good omega 3 supplement. It says in your book, '..look for supplements containing roughly twice as much EPA as DHA...' All the veggie/vegan ones I've found have more DHA than EPA. Any suggestions? Many thanks 🙂

After listening to your brilliant podcast with Patrick Holford, I'm reading his book
That's great!

Hi, I eat fats in meats (eg/ rib eye), oily fish, duck fat (favourite), bacon fat, butter and extra virgin olive oil.
Thanks for sharing ❤️

Nothing to do with this subject but I love your book 'Juice'. Totally changed the way I approach the consumption of fruit.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I loved this video Liz. Thank you so much ❤x

Good information here as usual Liz!!!! I have been slowly dipping into cold water therapy. It sure takes time doesn't it?
Take it slow to start for sure!
The podcast was so interesting. Can i just check, is it a Vitamin B complex you need or just B12 with the fish oil? X
B vitamins ❤️
B12 and vitamin B6 are helpful
Yes they are!
What can a vegetarian take instead of oily fish and fish oils?
Your hair looks so pretty! Tx
Take a look at algae-based supplements, which although not as well absorbed, do give some helpful nutritional brain benefit ❤️
@@lizearlewellbeing Thank you, I’ll have a look.

This tends to be the case with the algae based omega-3 supplements! ❤️
I cant remember anything
I even stop mid conversation
I get so angry

A B-50 vitamin a day keeps the blank looks away.
Oral health is important in brain health

💯 always use flouride free toothpaste. Also coconut oil is excellent for dementia 👍🏼
