This is spot on Liz thankyou, I gave up meat and most dairy for years, I'm paying the price diagnosed osteoporosis and raised coeliac levels. I'm on a mission back to healthy sources of meat and fish, exercising and yoga and weights for balance and strength. I can feel myself gaining healthy muscle already in just a few weeks. I have always been slim but this wasn't healthy. Its muscle mass and bone strength that's imperative as we age. I am so grateful for you highlighting this Liz we must educate our children about this. Thankyou Liz 🥰

      That’s really interesting
I began to eat fish and occasionally chicken again after my vegetarian period / and am going through perimenopause now
But I have noticed that I felt better on a vegetarian diet compared to my chicken and fish eating days
Wondered if just in my head

I have been vegetarian since I left primary school and compulsory school meals stopped. I am now 66. I do eat fish sometimes but worry about pollutants from the sea. I also recently underwent a full hysterectomy. No more oestrogen so I am for the first time thinking carefully about doing weight bearing exercises. I am also thinking very carefully about taking food supplements. I used to take a multi vitamin tablet but stopped taking it before my operation because I was afraid it would have an adverse effect on my health

Agree thank you liz for being confident to openly speak, we have been told for far too long to feel shame for eating meat products and fats, and narrative being pushed for so long that eating animals and fats is so unhealthy, Tosh, our ancestors thrived on this, so glad we finally are going back to old ways that includes how it's kept and made, eventually it will all go back that way, but with modern help today. We need fats and need fat in our body, especially women, BUT it swinging other way too with people hooked on carbs and obesity levels high, and again media trying to push the health at every size BS, and fat body positive push, that's not right or healthy either.

Love raw milk however, I believe many councils prohibited farmers from selling it, the old traditional ‘real foods’ are proven to be the healthiest and best for longevity. ( often the opposite recommendation that we here from the establishment) 👍

Honestly, they are extremely biased these plant based studies and I wouldn't take it at gospel. Paul Saladino MD is brilliant at challenging these flawed bias studies, he is a Doctor and was an cardiac specialist who took on another 6yrs of nutritional training, I was actually shocked to learn much of what he expressed about plant based diets detrimental effect on health, was exactly how it impacted me when eating vegan for 2yrs, thanks to him I got confident about eating meat etc, and I eventually healed. He's a little over enthusiastic but he's worth checking out.

Grains and pulses are the inflammatory components, not meat and fish. Dairy is more debatable, but the more organic and grass-fed, the better.

So true regarding low fat,my husband and I like you would eat low fat we have realised that is not the way to go so we have started eating fat again. When we speak to friends who are 80 upwards they mention they have never eaten low fat food so that's proof to us we were on the wrong track.I do have to watch my fat content as my Gallbladder was removed 9 years ago which was the biggest mistake of my life and never realised how important that organ was so do your homework before having it removed,I'm still here so that's a bonus.😊Congratulations Liz on becoming a Grandmother .😊 I've also received my wellbeing magazine thank you.😊❤

I and many of my friends did the Rosemary Conley diet in the 90's which was a low fat and a fairly high sugar diet. Fat was the enemy and we fell for it big time. I'm 66 and I try not to eat low fat rubbish filled with additives, but it's hard to shake off 'you must must keep your fats low'.

I’m 52 and woke up to the poor dietary advice we have been fed for years a few years ago. I now eat a keto type diet with lots of meat, fish, raw dairy, eggs, green veg and a few berries here and there. I go full carnivore for a few weeks if I feel tired, bloated or inflamed in joints and that sorts it out. I love your advice for mid life ladies. We can make positive charges that have palpable results by making simple changes xxx

I respect everyone’s choices but please don’t mistake veganism for a diet. It’s a lifestyle that goes beyond food. If you cut out animal products from your diet then you’re simply plant based. You may think it’s petty me pointing this out but vegans are primarily about avoiding animal cruelty, exploitation and consumption.

She decided to participate in the Zoe app. She discovered through Zoe that her fat metabolism is bad and has changed her diet to mainly plant based, and drinks kefir, which seems to suit her, as she has less joint pain and is feeling much better, thanks to Zoe.

I removed all inflammatory causing foods from my diet. I gave up meat, fish, dairy, sugar, gluten and veg oils. Have to take B12, vit D and food based iron. Hi 👋
I’m new to your channel and I have just subscribed. I agree completely with what you’ve said in your video. I was vegetarian for 5 years and dairy free. I have now turned around doing a 180 and gone back to eating meat, love eating eggs, and full fat in everything. We have been fed a load of lies about low fat diets. It’s the sugar industry that is killing us and is only interested in profit. Maltodexrin is another bad food that I try to avoid and it’s in pretty much everything including some varieties of baked beans. Thank you for your lovely video and you look amazing at 60. ❤❤

I'm still mostly vegan because I cannot tolerate eggs or dairy. Sometimes, I'll have a bit of fish. But the BIG difference for me was not worrying about eating low fat. I have coconut in my oatmeal and I try to eat an avocado every day. It's made all the difference in my feeling of well-being.

I’m 60 and spent about 20 years trying to eat a low fat vegetarian and then plant based diet. I hated food and used to throw most of my main meal in the bin. I indoctrinated myself that any fat or animal products would make me end up with cancer or heart disease. It was only when I started tracking my macros that I realised I was struggling to get enough protein. I know you can get protein from lentils etc but I can’t eat huge quantities of food and hated being bloated and looking like I was 6 month pregnant in the evenings. I have eaten animal products for several years now. I still don’t really like food but at least I can get all the essential nutrients without eating huge quantities. I generally feel better and am slim and very fit. I’ve been teetotal all my life but that won’t change as I hate alcohol.

Yep 2yrs of Veganism was really detrimental to my mental and physical health, I actually became very unwell, then caught COVID and I suffered for months, blood tests revealed I was completely deficient in iron, vitamin D and many more vital nutrients despite cooking "healthy" and from scratch. I was so unwell I had a complete breakdown, I lost a lot of weight, muscle mass, hair loss, my skin was terrible had rashes like never before, my hormones were a mess. It was the most horrific experience of my life. I immediately begun introducing animal sources back into my diet 2yrs ago starting with eggs, then a little bit of beef, reintroduced dairy, fish, honey, its taken me a long time to heal that's fir sure, feeling much healthier and have gained muscle again, hair growing back much healthier and gained a bit of healthy weight back too. There's a reason why 85% of people give up being vegan, because it's not optimal, very few people do ok on it, men do better on it than women, I'm guessing that's because we need the healthy fats to help manufacture hormones for healthy reproduction etc. Thanks for talking about it, as you can tell by my reaction I completely relate to all you have expressed, people genuinely need educating instead of believing the lies and propaganda we are so exposed to today.

Everything in moderation. I eat meat. Ideally I would like to consume free range grass fed, but maybe once a week or fortnight. Butter is great. I am slowly switching cooking from sunflower oil to coconut oil and using olive oil as a drizzle over all sorts of things. Our brains, skin and organs all need fat. The other really important things are walking daily, deep breathing, prayer and a good night's sleep.

Help! I’m embarking on an anti-inflammatory lifestyle as my hands and joints are aching. I’ve been avoiding sugar for the last 7 years, don’t drink alcohol and was no dairy. Went vegetarian but 4 years of bloating was enough and I now eat fish and turkey. I’ve started eating more eggs, ditched the oat milk because of the rapeseed oil in it (never bought the enriched ones). Now have organic full fat milk, organic butter and plain Greek yogurt. Would definitely try raw milk but no suppliers in my area.

I too have an issue converting vitamin A (retinol). However as a Nutritional Therapist we are taught to treat everyone as individuals which is how I treat my clients so more emphasis such as “this is what works for me” was needed. We are all different, all have different needs, preferences, beliefs and values. There is no one size fits all approach to healthy eating. @julesritterlivingwell.
