Remember, Jacob Seed implanted the “Only You” song as a trigger in your head to make you act out in uncontrollable rage, killing everyone around you. So when it plays on the radio, there’s a safe bet that everyone in the car dies, either from your attacks or a car wreck.
Yeah but tbh I think it would be a better ending for them to not die right there, and instead witness the nukes drop, or better yet, cause the nukes to drop.
But, If you escape the capture parties each time, how would that make sense? And I do agree with you but that should be the fourth ending, never getting captured and walking away
EDIT: you guys can stop commenting about my rancid take now please The ending made me feel so awful but was amazing at the same time. Props to Ubisoft for having enough guts to make you feel like everything you did was for absolutely nothing
I also love how Hudson represents the Nuclear ending (you choosing to arrest him), Pratt represents the Walk Away ending (You leave him his flock) and Earl represents the Secret ending, where you left it all alone from the get go.
The Daddyland yeah there’s this really good comment somewhere that explains on the radio when you finish the game it talks about American, Russian and North Korean tensions and it’s a nuclear war
The “canonical” ending was superb. It made you feel dread and despair, driving down the roads you knew as they set ablaze. Only to have your heart torn from you to see you still crashed, your sandbox destroyed and the feeling God really wasn’t on your side.
Seed has insane plot armor, it's not good writing it's just annoying and frustrating , I'm ok with a not winning ending, but whatever you do you lose, heads you lose, tails you lose, rock you lose, paper you lose, scissors you lose. At least try to make an ending where the rookie and seed are both wrong.
@@josh_miester_x511 kind of , but it isnt a really happy ending , even Jason says so himself ,that he killed so many people he has lost count and that he is a monster
I did all this shit, bought stuff, guns, cars, airplanes, everything, then this happens,i play New Game+ i do the ending without arrest and i lose everything....Fucking hell
Yeah they intended to do that just to suck more money from you, since far cry 5 is pretty much the only micro transactions game in the far cry franchise
@@jaxchacky9358 Suck more money in what way? Far Cry 5 is discounted to hell in Steam right now, pay little for Gold Edition and in return, you get to enjoy the rest of the game without having to spend another penny.
Mi-28 Havoc Well its a bit like spec ops the line there isnt really a good and bad ending its a grey line you can choose to walk or not (after all do you think Everything can be solved by murder)
This reminds me of FC4 where no one wins as well. Amita will turn Kyrat to drug selling state, Sabal will be a tyrant, Pagan Min is a tyrant as well. No one wins, you don't fix anything in that game
That ending is pretty bad because the other deputy, the one you save from Jacob's region, knows the music as well. He could have told the sheriff or shut the music off himself and explained the situation.
There is no good ending in fc5 You either walk away at the end of the game, but since you're brainwashed, you kill your friends. Nuke still happens later on. You can resist, but well... the collapse begins, WW3, nukes... you know the deal Or, you don't do anything at the beginning, but WW3 and nukes still happens. Either way, the fact is that what you do in fc5 is futile. The world is fucked, because some elites decide for the rest of humanity, and end up destroying it.
@@purelelez I think if you wait in the begining there are no nukes. The North Koreans only retaliated for nukes launched by Seed's followers. If you don't wait and try to arrest him you immediately know he has followers in law enforcement (sheriff's assistant over the radio). He could also have followers in the military to launch the nukes.
@@purelelez I don't know why people are saying that everything you did doesn't matter in the end. OF COURSE IT DOES! If you didn't killed the cultists, it would mean that a bigger and much well prepared blodthirst flock would ravage the wastes in the New Dawn. Joseph Seed was right about the Collapse, but that doesn't mean his methods of gathering followers were just or that Eden's Gate were the right kind of people to reclaim civilization after the fallout (just remember The Cook and the skinnings of marked sins, for example).
Bad ending: Joseph wins and he gets you? Good ending: You walk away, Joseph wins and still gets you? Secret ending: You just walk away and nothing bad happens?
Lightning Kasima Ohhh now i understand. The good ending is a cliffhanger because jacob used that music to make people kill each other. Because of that we dont know if we go to the national guards or if we kill each other. So basically theres no good ending. Its all bad ending. But the best ending is the first one because we dont know if they die or not
Achilles RodriguezXX theres no good ending. All is bad, but the first ending has a little chance of being a good ending. But most likely not because the song was jacob seeds song
Lightning Kasima the secret ending is the best ending they should have never go in there in the first place If you leave you go get the national guard means they kill the cult before everything goes down
I kinda wish that by the nuclear ending, when you would exit the end credits and try to "continue the game" you'd be in Dutch's bunker with Joseph staring at you and non-hostile, talking to you since you are his "only child" now.
I feel sorry for the deputy in that ending. Being trapped in the bunker with a madman as the world ended around you and all your friends died. That would suck.
That's how the game should have started but noooo mister glory hound US Marshal had to strut into the damn compound like he didn't know what the hell was gonna happen.
There are three endings here, and they're described poorly in the title of the video. There is no good, bad and nuclear ending; there is a secret ending, a bad ending and a good (or canon, as you will) ending. The *secret ending* is refusing to arrest Joseph Seed at the beginning, similar to how Far Cry 4 has a secret ending at the beginning of the game. The *bad ending* is walking away with your colleagues, at which point you drive out of Hope County, Elvis Presley's "Only You" starts to play on the radio and Rook's primal instincts are triggered again, killing everyone in the car. The *good (or canon) ending* is resisting Joseph, arresting him, and eventually witnessing he was indeed chosen by God to save as many people as he could, before the nukes dropped and set the world on fire. How do I know that the nuclear ending is the good (or canon) one, and not the one where you walk away? Because when you finish the "Walk Away" ending, there is no trophy popping first of all, and continuing the game puts you back right before you confront Joseph Seed, indicating you need to choose the other option in order to finish the game properly. In any case: I did not see the canon ending coming, not really. So, you have to give it to the writers: they did blindside you when it comes to your traditional expectations. And honestly, I actually liked the ending with the nukes dropping and his prophecy fulfilling. Far Cry's endings usually want to show you that things are seldomly as black and white as we would want them to be. There is no "universally good" or "universally bad" ending. Just a huge grey area where your own interpretation and motivation matters. *_Edit:_*_ Wow, almost 700 likes three years later! Was not expecting this, haha. I may not have done a great job explaining my point back then, so allow me to add one more piece of the puzzle which cements the fact that Joseph Seed's vision was genuine._ There's an actual physical FC5 book called "The Book of Joseph" which reads like an autobiography from Joseph's point of view, where he talks about how he heard *The Voice* for the first time when his father beats him for reading a Spider-Man comic book when he was young. The book is considered canon lore, which does show that he didn't instigate or manipulate anything. He was indeed chosen to warn everyone about the coming Apocalypse, but Hope County's people declared him a nutjob, insane. So what did Joseph do? Convinced and devoted to the cause, he started saving people against their will - kidnapping and brainwashing them. Joseph's intentions were good, he just went about it completely the wrong way. It's in this frame of events that the player has been fooled by the developers and questioning their own actions by the end, having blindly followed instructions, automatically accepting that in stereotypical video game design, you are per default the hero of the story and Joseph could be nothing more than an delusional madman. Big surprise when you find out that he may have gone off the deep end, but he was not delusional, quite the opposite.
This is all correct except for the part where he is "chosen by god" and whatnot. There is no actual higher power in the game and he isn't actually chosen to save all these people. According to dialog that you seldom hear on the non-cult radio that you only unlock much later in the game after you liberate a bunch of bullshit, there is a war going on that involves the United States, Moscow, some parts of the middle east, and of course North Korea. This could explain why a lot of "prepper" stashes involve bunkers of some sort. They are also prepping for the worst, in the same way that Joseph is. Unlike everybody else though, when Joseph sees these headlines in the news, he sees it as a sign from god that the collapse is coming and that he must save as many people as he can. Since the cult has blocked all radio signals, Joseph is the only one in the county other than you near the end of the game who can hear these announcements. It's unfortunate that Ubisoft didn't make this more obvious because I only heard these radio announcements after I finished the game. Radio clips: ua-cam.com/video/i0tly_9gxCI/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/F5BpbGHoomw/v-deo.html As to why the nukes didn't drop if you walked away? They most likely did, but since theres no fight sequence like the resist ending to fill the gap in time, the game cut to credits before that. So its really a double whammy, you kill your friends, then presumably get nuked.
JoaLoft just because it's the canon ending doesn't mean it's the good ending. Walking away proves Joseph's prophecy wrong, meaning none of the nukes fall. I'd say killing 3 people in a car is less bad than nukes destroying the world.
Makes you wonder how the next Far-Cry game cover's this? because 3,4,5 did have some continuity with returning character's so would they just mention America was nuked or whatever?, unless it's set before 5 I guess.
I believe after the nukes is where the other DLC comes in to show us what it is like on the surface after the nukes... So we will get a DLC that is like a fallout game. =)
"So you would rather watch the world suffer and burn than swallow your pride" That's actually what joseph is doing here. He's a manipulator. He would rather detonate his nukes to prove him right (fulfilling the prophecy), rather than not doing that and losing his power and influence over people. Clever writing.
Ariq Fauzan those weren’t his nukes, there were tensions with North Korea at that time, so Joseph was right all along. Radio clues give out this information.
@@hermankorsunov the radio was controlled by them. I mean it could be true, but there were 3 nukes missing and montana has a lot of nuke silos. The game implied that he stole some nukes.
@@hermankorsunov plus, it wouldnt have made sense for north Korea to nuke the most obscure places in america like montana instead of like washington or ny which would've been more impactful
I seriously doubt that those were warheads he detonated. It would make more sense in terms of plot, but if you pay attention to the bunker's they lacked missiles, let alone warheads, and were evidently in poor condition. You can't exactly yank those ICBM's out of their silos and move them around, especially not with civvie trucks, and why would you anyhow? On top of that, what would've happened to the garrison force manning those facilities? Even on skeleton crew they aren't exactly pushover installations given their ability to dole out fiery death to entire cities anywhere on the planet. And let's not forget that the ol' government of stars and stripes would immediately be aware of the loss of the silos and send a force to retake them and neutralize the cult threat. The only situation in which everything would align in the cults favor in such a manner is if the local garrison forces were compelled or converted into joining the cult, and maintained a solid enough facade to fool the government. But once again there isn't any evidence of that, and there is plenty of evidence countering it. As for radios, depending on your setup and the type of signal you are trying to pick up you can pick up signals from other continents. Thus unless Joseph and Co were somehow jamming all outside radio contact, it is unlikely that he "controls" the radio. And lastly, you answer your own comment as to why Montana would be struck. I don't think that North Korea would be the one hitting Montana, let alone with three fairly high-yield BM delivered warheads. But, even if North Korea were the first to fire this would almost certainly trigger M.A.D. and cause the other world powers to launch their own weapons. In which case Montana would be a likely target due to those silos you mentioned. The game of M.A.D. might be destruction, but that doesn't mean you aren't going to prioritize crippling the enemies' strike capacity by torching silos and other infrastructure. tl;dr It doesn't check out because the bunkers don't appear to have be in use, Joseph lacks the expertise and equipment to move missiles and warheads, and the government would know if three warheads went missing from active installations.
I never hear people talk about how good of a performance Pratt’s VA puts on in the nuke ending, as someone who gets hit with the fear of imminent death. He just shatters and reverts to a childlike state of mind as a scramble to comfort.
I saw an awesome theory that said that each brother and sister had a nuclear bomb in their land. Because if you count them, there is three, that means that those nukes were his back up plan so when he leaves that bunker, everyone will praise him since he “knew” it was coming. EDIT: By evidence found in game, THIS THEORY IS WRONG!! Radios in game talk about nuclear bombing threats throughout america.
I never thought of that. Remember, that when you have to get out of John's bunker, you make an escape up through a missile silo. There are also numerous silos and military bunkers in the game. Joseph could've easily taken control of nuclear weapons being stored there.
WAIT!!!! I found a video that proves this WRONG!!!!! If you listen to the radio a lot...It will say that there are multiple massive nuclear bombings that are happening around the world....so ya, theres that
AlohaAllDayLong I doubt they’d be able to get their hands on nukes and if you pay any attention to what Joseph or anyone talks about they talk about nuclear war on the horizon, if you talk to Eli in the Whitetail Bunker he says that “if Kim Jong Un nuked then they wouldn’t even flinch”
@@ghonnh20 I was in a shock when I had found out that no matter what I did in the game. The father'd always walk away free ☹️. It's a great game 😅 but uhh, the ending torn my heart and made me hate the game ☹️
Far Cry 3 Jason and his friends escaped the island but with their mental trauma. Far Cry 4 Amita and Sabal turn tyrant at the end. This Far Cry everyone die. Maybe the best thing we learn from Far Cry 3 4 and 5 endings is nothing ends good with bullet and war.
In FC4, if you choose to not kill Pagan, you actually get to be the new country leader, as he gives it to you, he actually captures you in the 1st place in the beginning only to do so. You were only the puppet of Saban and Amita all along, si they can obtain royalty instead of you.
This was a weak ending th whole game didnt matter because it comes down to a choice of walk away or get locked in a bunker with a guy who has plot armor invincibility, boring im done with farcry
He is the good guy believe it or not. Your actually playing as the bad guy. He knew WW3 was coming and tried to prepare to save some of humanity, while you ran around with the Mars DLC laser guns and rocket pistol blowing up what is essentially Noah's Ark.
KnockOffKnickKnack you’re not cool for trying to undermine what he said by accusing him of being edgy. It just shows that he makes you feel insecure about something. he’s not trying to be edgy, he’s just pointing out the truth
@@blap5630 BRO LMAO dude you dont gotta write a 500 paragraph essay trying to defend an edgy kid. you probably listen to edgy rap beats and cry over em.
If anyone's salty over not killing Joseph, just imagine the ending in the bunker has him play a Copy of Only You because he's bored when the screen goes dark.
Now, I don’t mind dark endings, heck I don’t even mind a bad ending or two in a game. These endings are all bad because they completely devalue everything the player does throughout the game. In all the endings Joseph gets exactly what he wants, either the player doesn’t interfere, fights Joseph’s cult only to give up at the end, or beats Joseph only for his doomsday plan to be fulfilled anyway. So basically the best ending is the best because the player simply doesn’t put effort into stopping a foregone conclusion. Bad endings all around.
Gage Yon The point of the far cry games is to question your actions. Joseph is still a psychopath even if he was right and his means of saving people was extremely questionable. The player still made his cult extremely weak at the end so Joseph still lost , even if he was right
joseph actually loses if you walk away, his entire prophecy requires that you try to interfere with him, so if you don't his prophecy looks like a sham in the end. it's funny cause he himself tells you that not everything can be solved with a bullet.
Denzel Romero But it doesn't work in a game setting. You make people go through a lot of content make it feel meaningful. But then there is no pay off. You don't see what happens. Just as it starts to get interesting the credits roll. They never looked at mass effect 3. It suffered from the same problem. Many choices and decisions. But no payoff
It's not that simple, it has more to it than "bad guy wins", Far Cry endings have always been about grey areas, and this one is no exception, because sure, what Joseph was doing to people was wrong, and from the point of our character and our friends what he is doing is evil, but he was doing that to save as many people as he could from the prophesied world ending, and since we think that what Joseph is saying is just religion world is doomed bullshit, we obviously want to stop him. But on the ending we can see that he was right and our character just killed everyone. That's the grey area, Joseph was trying so save people from the prophesied world ending by putting them in his cult and building bunkers, we were trying to save those people he was putting in the bunkers because we thought that what he was saying was bullshit, but by doing that we kill everyone we were trying so save, so who was right and who was wrong here? who was the bad dude or good dude? Depends on your point of view and thats why its a grey area
Altair nice job trying to over-explain something, it is that simple there are no gray areas Thomas the bad guy wins no matter what, and this game went from amazing to Pure manure. Don't start acting like you got a taste of the bliss
It's not over-explaining, its literally how everything on the game relates to the ending, and it is about grey areas, have you even played Far Cry 4 and how the ending of that game was? The devs have said themselves that they like to do *those types* of endings with Far Cry games, literally just do a bit of research on Google.
Altair I know how Far Cry games work & I'm sure they went for tha g type of game but Farcry 5 still ended up full of plotholes with no grey areas & the bad guy wins no matter what. Don't need to research what "They" like to do when it's obvious as the nose on your face what "They" have done.
For me: Bad: You and your friends drive away, the “Only You” song plays you kill Pratt, Hudson and Whitehorse because that’s why you killed Eli. Bad #2: You try to arrest Joseph Seed, Montana gets Nuked because of WW3. Pratt, Hudson, Dutch, and Whitehorse are killed. Edens Gate were the good guys all along Good: You walk away from arresting Joseph Seed killing tons but saving thousands.
I really love this ending, through out the whole game you feel so controlled everything you do the father and his siblings have planned out and even in the end it still feels like the father is the one with the control. It leaves you wondering if the father actually have some sort of connection with some sort of god or if he just is a drug addict lunatic with alot of luck!
You know, fallout can make a reference to far cry by creating a cult, in their game called edens gate. Like a very small cult of 5 people, and you can kill them all. I just thinking that'll be a fun ester egg
Very Nice it doesent actually matter which character you are because the nuclear bomb it was just a hallucination to escape and get what he wants with the bliss
The Red One well not exactly. Theres a technique called the "thumb scale" bassically u hold up your thumb to the mushroom cloud and if it is larger than your thumb then youre in the blast radius however if it is smaller u should still run but youre less likely to die (or have a little longer to live) however u cannot see ur thumb so we'll have to improvize using the father's face in front of u. Say the thumb is from the top of his nose to the middle mouth. That is larger than the mushroom cloud. So it is most likely out of the canyon. Im guessing judging by the highway in that direction and mentoion in game that there is a city. Probably hit there. Also they came in via helacopter from the South-east where another nuke hit. Which hints that theres a city there as well. Radiation has a higher density than air which is why the dust moved. And thats not to mention the minor radiation they, police officers who have been trained for hot situations, are being subjected to, making them act rashly.
I loved the nuke ending. Not only was it fun and cool to drive through it but i thought it was done really well. I love the whole concept of Joseph being right and that in a way you were the bad guy the whole time. The walk away ending is great too. I can't really explain why I like it but it was also really well done imo.
JW78SNAKE Yeah he's totally the bad guy. Just his intentions aren't too bad if you think deeply into it that's why I said in a way. Regardless tho everything he did to try to reach that goal was screwed up.
So, regardless of your actions, all your friends and allies end up dead or brainwashed by the Bliss, and Joseph gets exactly what he wanted every time? What a sham.
*The GOOD ending reminds me of the shocking ending to the movie "The Mist", it comes out of nowhere, you think you've figured it all out, that you deserve a happy ending after all you've been through, but no, the game sucker-punches you with this Nuke ending, and in a way it's very creative and ballsy*
I agree, it had a lot going for it until the end, and the ending did suck balls, but I still give it props for doing something totally unexpected, that had never been seen in a film before
Not only does the ending to The Mist suck, it sucks for the same reason the nuclear ending in this game does. That reason is that they don't earn their twists. The Mist gives you characters that are fighters and survivors, and the director decides to throw away the book's original ending where they live, in favor of an ending where they uncharacteristically commit suicide. It's stupid, and reeks of trying to be edgy without thinking abut whether it works for the story (it doesn't). In a similar fashion, the nuclear ending in Far Cry 5 hangs on the premise that Joseph Seed "was right". Except he's not. He isn't a sympathetic character in any way, shape or form and neither are his "family". They're psychopaths, plain and simple, according to the things you see them doing during the game, murder, torture, etc. The game keeps beating you over the head with these monologues where they lecture you with a bunch of nonsense that is supposed to add depth (it doesn't). All of this talking is an attempt at being edgy, while adding a level of doubt to your mission to take down the cult, but it doesn't work because, again, they're clearly wrong. So Seed isn't right, and the whole thing comes off as a laughable coincidence instead of an amazing, thought provoking twist. The ending and overall writing shits all over the game, basically. Ubisoft needs to hire better writers if they're going to keep trying for these "deep" narratives that wind up being deep as a puddle and written like a teenager's creative writing exercise.
The nuclear ending though. That scenario of living in hell in bunker with man who you fought and killed his family... I'd imagine that normal guy would most probably go insane after that.
Frank Teryngel so in other words you are the villian of the story since joeseph was right but since he tried to "save" as many people as he could in a fucked up way nobody belived him
I didn't realize the first time I saw it, because I was so engrossed in the dialogue and what was happening, but you can hear air raid sirens going off in the background of Joseph's speech just as he's being arrested. Awesome attention to detail. I love this game.
They did a good job on his design. While I was playing, my dog was watching but when the ending came up she did *NOT* like him. Kept barking and growling at him while hidding behind my chair! lol
There is no "Good" ending. If you get the 10 minute ending, it will just end up becoming the bad ending. the "Worst" ending aka Nuclear, is the best ending. you might ask "How is that the good ending? Everyone died!" Well everyone in the games landscape. Who said the rest of the world died, and who said EVERYONE in game died?
The fact that the nuclear explosions could start WW3 because the US government would have thought they were attacked by a foreign state ? The nuclear winter that would destroy a large chunk of the US ?
AppL I would actually said the nuclear ending is the good one since after the nuke detonated Joseph decided to forgive what everything the protagonist did and decided to make the protagonist part of his family The walk away ending is what I predict is after the sheriff played the song u get hallucinated by it and decided to go on a massacre and went back to the church and kill Joseph seed or the person that is in the backseat decided to shut off the radio
+Davorin Jurišić Yes really, the nuke explosions shown in the game were surely not carried by any missiles and the DPRK probably only has around one or two dozen nukes.
Huh. I got the ending where he keeps me in his bunker with him, but I never got the arrest scene. I think because I was using the lazer gun it just evaporated his corpse and didn't trigger the crawling away and nuke scene. I was just suddenly in the car with people and nukes were going off. Talk about confusion.
I figured the nuclear ending was a figment of your imagination due to the bliss. I mean what are the odds that every single one of the characters is infected with it? And there's no way any country would drop that many nukes in one place that's basically just a small town and country side. I thought it was just a mind trick to get you away from the others so he could indoctinate you. I mean you fill him full of holes and he's totally fine.
but it did actually happen. if you drive to the church a broadcast will play that warns of possible nuke locations with montana being possibly hit (which obviously it did)
For a little bumpkin state Montana has a fuck ton of ICBM's and little towns are ideal sites....All the bunkers the Seed family used were old bunkers housing ICBM's.
Dylan Cherry Buddy... the amount of missiles Russia has... Nothing will survive...Nothing. 1 Sub is capable of obliterating one state of America. Imagine what India, China, Pakistan, and mainland Russia would do to the world.
Montana has a lot of nuclear silos. Joseph Seed had control of them. Joseph setting them off makes more sense than a Korean bombardment of the Midwest.
Farcry5 is based on the idea that ruby ridge went waco instead. but joesph having nuclear reactors and silos was definitely more believable especially considering nukes dont go off in the other ending.
if you listened to certain radios you hear about some international political tension so him setting off a nuke and starting the end of teh world makes sense to me
Blood of Kings6 it you like 10 mins to fight joseph in the walk away you just drive away it the nukes will go off in the walk away ending to it just hasnt happened yet
except nope. father gets free reign. atleast in the ''good ending'' aka nuclear one u kill some of his henchman and flee into a bunker with the resistance. also with free reign he eventually nukes europe.
I wish there was an ending to where we could join the cult. I know that defeats the whole purpose of the game lol but I think that it would be cool to join them
@@theoldbarny4195 I did play it. I didn't really care for it,but the judge will not look you in the eye. And I thought that was a fascinating twist on their part. But I will say I liked about 50% of the story and I'm partially disabled so some of the new game mechanics was hard for me to deal with.
I know it's not what everyone else things, but I think these endings were pretty good. I understand that everyone is mad that you don't really win in all but the secret ending, but I think these are much braver than just having a happy ending of yay you arrested crazy man after mass murdering people. The fact that the antagonist was ultimately the man in the right is just something most games don't do. Ultimately, I think these bittersweet and unexpected endings are much more interesting.
Eric Hernandez Actually the Deputy would've had legal protection. He isn't a murderer when he was actively working to stop a terroristic organization. The "Peggies" were shown to kidnap, torture, and murder people due to some idiotic theocratic thinking by a crazed drug peddler. The Deputy committed necessary evils in order to save as many lives as possible while executing the main threat.
I think Joseph blew the nukes up himself, cause in the other ending nothing goes off. In which case he's not really the man in the right, he's just forcing things his way regardless of your choices.
Not every bad guy can be gotten rid of with out too great a price. I actually like the ending; it's not too bog standard. Edit: unless the dlc has a "good" ending, at which point I hate it. Another edit: ok, that walk away ending was pretty cliff hanger. Fair enough.
Maybe the ending would've been a bit less shit if the bad guy was even remotely sympathetic, and if the game didn't punish you for trying to take down this one particular human by ending the fucking world. Also it's not like the game gives you a convenient non violent method of dealing with enemies. You gotta shoot everything and kill everything and the game suddenly pretends like that's a bad thing, despite being ENTIRELY about it? Fuck off with this pretentious horseshit, it's a shit ending and you know it.
Well the ending where they leave is basically the lesser of two evils so it's at least a win.... Sorta better than being bunkered in with that lunatic.
There's no way his timing can be THAT perfect.... either his family's pockets were deep enough to buy some nukes and plant them all over the valley, or he actually was a prophet the whole time
Radio broadcasts in the game imply the nukes were set off in a conflict between Russia, China, North Korea and the US, so that timing is literally down to him being a prophet
Or, like, you know paying attention to the news. And perhaps coincidence with the timing of his arrest. What irked me, though I love these endings since they are emotionally powerful, is that in the bunker I can't off Joseph after his monologue. If I understand correctly, the conditioning is just triggered by the song (as in the bad ending). Anyway, I would have liked that option.
I think fry cry 3 had the best ending , were you can actually save everyone and the bad guy is dead. Not a fan of these type of endings were the bad guy wins no matter what.
Magni56 yeah, but it would be cool to at least see it or take part of it from a helicopter shooting down on the cult with a mini gun. Then go free roaming lul
The nuclear ending is alright, I liked how it made you really feel like you brought that wrath upon everyone but even at the end of it, I was more annoyed and pissed off than anything. Otherwise just more mediocre and unsatisfying endings in my opinion, I expected as much considering I hated 3 and 4 for their endings. Solid gameplay, had a good time but man my attitude about it just sours so much when the endings aren't satisfying in the least.
The point of these stories are that there’s not a happy ending to every story, the “all that for nothing” is an important part of Far Cry. These games have amazing endings, always, but most people don’t realize it because they’re not happy to be told they failed
JordanRA agreed. The endings nearly made me regret buying the game in he first place. I wish they would've done something similar to GTA V where we had a clear ending where we kill Joseph Seed. I mean he gets away scot free!?
This comment contains my ending choice not spoiled before and my thoughts after seeing the other ending. If you don't care just skip this insead of commenting bullshit. It took me 20m to choose at the end when Joseph offered me the choice. In my mind this was going around:Joseph always gave me a second chance when he could have killed me so I should walk away but on the other hand all he did to hope country just can't be forgiven. I went for resisting he just couldn't live and all my work to go in hell and all those people dead not to be revenged.... Marshall,Vigil,Eli. I felt so sad that we got nuked and everything went from bad to worse. Everyone died in the car...Dutch also killed by Joseph and me alone with the madman?Hell I tought I got the bad ending but now watching the other choice's result I feel that the nuke end is better over walking away. At least Joseph doesn't really win because he has nobody but me and what can he do to me?It was him who said he won't kill me and that I am his child. In the walk away ending just you and your friends die but Joseph is still there with his cult, your companions and all the comunities that helpes you under his control. Thanks to anybody who got this far reading this :)
Quetixio I got the nuke ending as well n tbh it pissed me off,you have no idea how bad I wanted that fucker to die.the "good" ending isnt good at all.to me even tho the sherrif says we're getting all these ppl to help,he pretty much is giving into Joseph like he won.fuck that lol
I think that would have been great if after the music in the car, you actually come back to the church in rampage mode and kill everyone, Joseph included. That could have a made a badass ending!
What if nuclear explosion is just hallucination from the bliss that Joseph throws around. I mean, just little ammounts of this shit can make you go crazy, 2 barrels, i think, can make you see and feel stuff way worse than explosion
Also , if you think about it, nuclear explosion is killng EVERYTHING in effection radius in the matter of seconds, either because of force wave or radiation. If bomb was real everyone should be dead by 11:11
Alulu Alu I think its the yellow glasses that makes the difference. Blue+yellow=green. In bunker scene we see Joseph without his glasses , therefore we can see true colour of his eyes - which is blue
Far Cry is a game series all about teaching us "sometimes it's best to just leave well enough alone". We see this in Far Cry 4 when both Amita and Sabal want bad things for Kyrat. The state didn't change, we saw it in Far Cry 3 when you realise that Jason will inevitably become Vaas. We see it most strongly here in Far Cry 5, when no matter what you do as long as you try to help people Joseph will win. Because "sometimes it's best to just leave well enough alone".
I get that they wanted this to be a fool's errand. That going up against the cult with a small handful of people was not going to work. But the way they went about it's execution was poor, in my opinion. All that time spent preparing the rebellion, and in the end it was seemingly for nothing. I can respect what they were trying to do, but I have to agree with those who feel unsatisfied. There isn't a feeling of having the player's time and effort being rewarded. If they added one ending, no matter how hidden, where you can "win," by defeating the big bad I think there wouldn't be so much backlash.
JHoops So Joseph took advantage of the paranoia and chose a space near the western boarder. Somewhere remote. I think I'll need to look more into the backstory of it. Thanks!
Pretty much if you want to strip away the religious aspect of it. Here is a video of one of the news reports from the radio. ua-cam.com/video/Awuvu3VNTJY/v-deo.html&lc=z22xjzl4wzf0gjyftacdp430k54x201wu3530i2phzlw03c010c.1522554458906969
I was actually pretty impressed with these endings. I know people wanted a "good ending" where Joseph was captured/killed and everyone lived happily ever after but it was quite a twist to set up the cult as crazy and maniacal only to turn round and say that maybe he was telling the truth. Not everything in life ends up the way you expect; not everything in games has to either.
There's also the ending where you shoot Joseph in the Jeep right after the "Resist" battle. The car blows up right afterwards. Arguably it's the best ending, if the bombs were going to fall and all the characters were going to die anyways, regardless of their actions.
I honestly enjoy these endings, largely because I've played just so many games where I get to kick ass, chew bubblegum, save the kingdom or the world or just kick a highly convenient and highly unlikeable villain in the teeth. It's fun, but it gets to where it becomes kind of the rote approach for plot-building in games. I see a lot of people complaining about FarCry 5's endings, where there's about two dozen other FPSes out there that give you undiluted Hero Worship experiences. If I want to feel like the Best Guy Ever, I can play anything between Bungie's FPS titles to the Uncharted titles, or even fire up something by BioWare and Bethesda and stick to the usually obvious moral high ground. If I want to kill faceless mooks that openly deserve to die, I can fire up Shadow of Mordor or Shadow of War. FarCry's virtually the only franchise I know of that will give you a flamethrower and a field of weed, the only one that'll ask you to burn it all to appropriately-timed Dubstep - and that'll then find a way to make you question the validity of your actions. FarCry 5 had a tightrope to walk. It could've pleased the folks at Polygon and left us to gun down proponents of the Hated Political Zeitgeist of the Moment, but it took a riskier road. The game's endings are reflecting on your actions and saying "That sure was fun, wasn't it? It's just too bad you've made yourself out to be a mass-murdering monster with a bigger kill tally than anything the Seeds could've dished out." And the game's right. The FarCry games know they're about raucous, bloody open-world fun - and they know it's dumb. They let you indulge in it all, but they know the core conceit speaks poorly of anyone who'd be placed in anyone between Jason Brody, Ajay Ghale, Takkar or the Deputy's shoes.
Hardly any of those games properly invested into their villains. I want to know the villains' motivation, personality and background, and then see the look of their hopes and dreams shattered in front of them as I put a bullet into their head or just send them off to authorities for all the trouble they caused me. I get it, dark endings where nobody wins and all, but it comes to a point where it just suck out of the satisfaction you might had have for completing this game. What's the point of the journey if the guy you're trying to oppose is right all along?
Daniel Sauvé hey man... you might enjoy Kingdom Come Deliverance, a fun game which does have bugs but is well thought out and don't hold your hand throughout game, it's hard and a challenge, for you must actually pay attention to the story line to figure out what to say and do, I've heard so many different story's of different things you can do, also the game varies drastically from what others experienced due to certain paths one takes through the storyline
okay but imagine an ending where the villain dies but the protagonist creates his own cult. seeing as his mind became corrupted during the Seed's mindcontrol. just a thought and a better ending I'd take over these anyday
I wouldve been ok with that, it would actually make sense why they captured you 8 times and leave you alive so that one day youll end up leading the cult. How come you made a better ending then fucking ubisoft?

Yeah but tbh I think it would be a better ending for them to not die right there, and instead witness the nukes drop, or better yet, cause the nukes to drop.

You either walk away at the end of the game, but since you're brainwashed, you kill your friends. Nuke still happens later on.
You can resist, but well... the collapse begins, WW3, nukes... you know the deal
Or, you don't do anything at the beginning, but WW3 and nukes still happens.
I may not have done a great job explaining my point back then, so allow me to add one more piece of the puzzle which cements the fact that Joseph Seed's vision was genuine._
There's an actual physical FC5 book called "The Book of Joseph" which reads like an autobiography from Joseph's point of view, where he talks about how he heard *The Voice* for the first time when his father beats him for reading a Spider-Man comic book when he was young.
Radio clips: ua-cam.com/video/i0tly_9gxCI/v-deo.html

As to why the nukes didn't drop if you walked away?
What if this is Ubisoft trying to tell us this is the last Far Cry game?
I believe after the nukes is where the other DLC comes in to show us what it is like on the surface after the nukes... So we will get a DLC that is like a fallout game. =)
"So you would rather watch the world suffer and burn than swallow your pride"
That's actually what joseph is doing here.
No the world literally ended from world war 3. Have you played Far Cry New Dawn?

Ending three: oh ok
Funny you ask, the best ending is not buying the game since you save yourself $60 and Joseph ends up looking like a sham.
These are all GOOD endings. You join Joseph and help him build a perfect world.
1. Bad guys wins
2.bad guy wins
3.yay
3. Bad guy wins again
For me:
Bad: You and your friends drive away, the “Only You” song plays you kill Pratt, Hudson and Whitehorse because that’s why you killed Eli.
Bad #2: You try to arrest Joseph Seed, Montana gets Nuked because of WW3. Pratt, Hudson, Dutch, and Whitehorse are killed. Edens Gate were the good guys all along
Good: You walk away from arresting Joseph Seed killing tons but saving thousands.
Tons and thousands are the same thing

Bruh its a joke
You know, fallout can make a reference to far cry by creating a cult, in their game called edens gate. Like a very small cult of 5 people, and you can kill them all. I just thinking that'll be a fun ester egg
Jonathan Ju it’s a joke...
So if you play as a male then joseph didn't think this through about repopulating the earth
Very Nice it doesent actually matter which character you are because the nuclear bomb it was just a hallucination to escape and get what he wants with the bliss
The Red One i have a question. If thats the case then why did the guy in the bunker also say there were nukes? He was NO WHERE NEAR the bliss.
Future Priest Patrick then what do you suggest it happened?
Future Priest Patrick it cant be real, because the impact of the first bomb would kill them all, and there were other 2 bombs

Can't expect to win every time , that's what I love about this game.
The mist sucked
Sort of reminded me of The Devil Inside (which had a really REALLY shit ending) where they basically just crashed and everyone died
FireTiger941 but dos t kinda mean that everything youve done in the game was pointless since joseph was right all along
The nuclear ending though. That scenario of living in hell in bunker with man who you fought and killed his family... I'd imagine that normal guy would most probably go insane after that.
Frank Teryngel so in other words you are the villian of the story since joeseph was right but since he tried to "save" as many people as he could in a fucked up way nobody belived him
Either villain or neutral. That depends on the actions of the deputy after the game.
Tzeentch i dont think Europe would invade the US
Frank Teryngel I got that ending
G Kagara please, read the book "The Book of Joseph"... he really cares about his brothers.
I didn't realize the first time I saw it, because I was so engrossed in the dialogue and what was happening, but you can hear air raid sirens going off in the background of Joseph's speech just as he's being arrested. Awesome attention to detail. I love this game.

🤣
There is no "Good" ending.
If you get the 10 minute ending, it will just end up becoming the bad ending.
the "Worst" ending aka Nuclear, is the best ending. you might ask "How is that the good ending? Everyone died!"
Well everyone in the games landscape. Who said the rest of the world died, and who said EVERYONE in game died?
The fact that the nuclear explosions could start WW3 because the US government would have thought they were attacked by a foreign state ? The nuclear winter that would destroy a large chunk of the US ?
AppL I would actually said the nuclear ending is the good one since after the nuke detonated Joseph decided to forgive what everything the protagonist did and decided to make the protagonist part of his family
The walk away ending is what I predict is after the sheriff played the song u get hallucinated by it and decided to go on a massacre and went back to the church and kill Joseph seed or the person that is in the backseat decided to shut off the radio
@@inkoalawetrust Nuclear explosions without missile launches? Really. And how many nuclear warheads does DPKR have?
+Davorin Jurišić Yes really, the nuke explosions shown in the game were surely not carried by any missiles and the DPRK probably only has around one or two dozen nukes.

Plus if it was gonna happen anyway it would have happened even if you left them alone but it didn't
but it did actually happen. if you drive to the church a broadcast will play that warns of possible nuke locations with montana being possibly hit (which obviously it did)
For a little bumpkin state Montana has a fuck ton of ICBM's and little towns are ideal sites....All the bunkers the Seed family used were old bunkers housing ICBM's.
Dylan Cherry Buddy... the amount of missiles Russia has... Nothing will survive...Nothing. 1 Sub is capable of obliterating one state of America. Imagine what India, China, Pakistan, and mainland Russia would do to the world.
And yet was the county _not_ cut off from the outside world entirely? How would such transmissions arrive, lest they be clever propaganda?
5:31 oooooonlyyyyyyy yoooooooooooou can prevent forest fires ; )
Montana has a lot of nuclear silos. Joseph Seed had control of them. Joseph setting them off makes more sense than a Korean bombardment of the Midwest.
Sixxy! Which is unrealistic because if he had nukes it would be more the the entire us army there.

After all your character is still a killer no happy endings with death just my opinion though
Eric Hernandez
Actually the Deputy would've had legal protection.
Colton Powell Interesting point
Colton Powell I guess I need to rephrase my opinion
I think Joseph blew the nukes up himself, cause in the other ending nothing goes off. In which case he's not really the man in the right, he's just forcing things his way regardless of your choices.

Shashank M they never told anything to national guard, they died in that walk away ending
Well the ending where they leave is basically the lesser of two evils so it's at least a win.... Sorta better than being bunkered in with that lunatic.
he can't win father.
There's no way his timing can be THAT perfect.... either his family's pockets were deep enough to buy some nukes and plant them all over the valley, or he actually was a prophet the whole time
bad relations between north korea, russia and america

The series always has you thinking to yourself, "All that for nothing."
That's the point...
The point of these stories are that there’s not a happy ending to every story, the “all that for nothing” is an important part of Far Cry. These games have amazing endings, always, but most people don’t realize it because they’re not happy to be told they failed
this ending have so many dislike , this 3 ending my friend said suck too...

I think that would have been great if after the music in the car, you actually come back to the church in rampage mode and kill everyone, Joseph included. That could have a made a badass ending!
It would make no sense but itd be cool.
If bomb was real everyone should be dead by 11:11
Yeah, I was thinking about the same thing.
i thing the same too
yeah bruh good thinking but after the explosion; the voice coming from the radio makes it too realistic
Alulu Alu I think its the yellow glasses that makes the difference. Blue+yellow=green. In bunker scene we see Joseph without his glasses , therefore we can see true colour of his eyes - which is blue
The amount of hatred I have for this man and what he’s done is immeasurable. They did a great job with this story and characters I think.
The ending proved that seed really WAS right though thus making YOU the actual villain

You never win in a far cry game.
Winter Phoenix That is an interesting take. I can see it.
Yeah on the radio they state moscow has been bombed millions of people are dead lol. Plus tensions with north korea.

I was actually pretty impressed with these endings. I know people wanted a "good ending" where Joseph was captured/killed and everyone lived happily ever after but it was quite a twist to set up the cult as crazy and maniacal only to turn round and say that maybe he was telling the truth. Not everything in life ends up the way you expect; not everything in games has to either.
finally someone who realises the point of that twist instead of going “WAAAAHHHHH HE HAS PLOT ARMOR ME WANT SHOOT GUN AT HIM”
Plot twist: Your character wakes up from a crazy dream about fighting a doomsday cult.
Is it bad that I want a Clutch Nixon ending?
But didn't Clutch Nixon die?
Jason Lurf There are some theories that Dutch Roosevelt is Clutch Nixon
Man, He was so cool! - Nick Rye
GRIM REAPER!!!
Theres a theory that Dutch is Clutch Nixon
But i believe Nick is also somehow related with Clutch Nixon
Far cry Primal comes after 5
lol
Imagine though 😂
That would actually make more sense.
KTimes #BaphBoyZ that would make sense tho
KTimes #BaphBoyZ lol
It's just too bad you've made yourself out to be a mass-murdering monster with a bigger kill tally than anything the Seeds could've dished out."
And the game's right.
Hunter lennel 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️don’t know but if Ubisoft is making hella bank you’d think they would’ve delivered a masterful ending.
How does a character who didn’t a single word lead a cult? There’s a hole in that ending.
realtree008 you’re right about that. But they could’ve had one line of dialogue for the character to say at the end of the game and that could’ve been literally it. But alas we have these shit endings to live with.
Farcry 4 where you overtake Kyrat but end up turning it into a drug trafficking empire.
nuclear ending is one of the coolest videogame endings in years.....idk wtf you guys are talking about.
"Only you" was your characters trigger word/ song
Duh-doy
