    Wavy lines! They seem organic and flowing and are easier & more forgiving than straight(ish) lines. They fill the space across the quilt well!

      You are so right!! I love the organic aspect AND you can’t see the mess ups as in straight line quilting 😬😬. It’s on of my favorites 🥰

    Hi, thanks for your entire quilt series. I am at the stage of quilting my quilt and I am in agreement with you about the wave stitch. I only quilted one quilt and I did a boxy zig zag along and across each block. I liked the outcome. I have been practicing with my free motion and am not quite ready to quilt with it yet. I still have to get the speed and stitch length and waves to compliment each other; in other words my quilting is choppy looking. Thank you so much for your videos, you are so very helpful. God Bless you

    I think the walking foot works well with smaller projects but I tried the foot with a wavy line stitch on a larger quilt but I found it was not smooth enough, then I attached the free motion foot and with the feed dogs down it was a smoother transition. What are your thoughts?

    • @southernsewingco
      @southernsewingco  3 місяці тому +1

      @@dianajones9082 thanks for your comment! I think you can get a more consistent line with the free motion line since you have to start/stop to adjust the quilt. But both have pros and cons!

    Hi, I'm new to trying Stitch in the Ditch. Do you press your seams open or to the side?

    • @southernsewingco
      @southernsewingco  Місяць тому

      Hey! Great question! I typically do both, more so pressing to one side. If you do it this way, when you look at your seam from the top of the quilt, you’ll see that one side is slightly higher. Your quilting stitch blends in better if you quilt over the less higher side. If that makes sense! If you’re pressing open, both sides should be equal, and your stitch should fit snuggly in between 😀

    Do I need to move my feed dog when using the walking foot?

    • @southernsewingco
      @southernsewingco  6 місяців тому

      No ma’am! Feed dogs stay in their regular setting, just like with your presser foot, when using your walking foot! It’s only with the free motion foot that we drop them down. Hope this helps!
