Spyro Gyra in DC Penn Station The Hamilton. Feb. 21, 2020

This is the opening 2 songs from the guys as they returned to DC for 90 minutes of great music. This is a vid of City Kids ( a Tom Schuman Tune and then Old San Juan ( one of Jay’s ). Jay comes on stage with the band looks at the audience and gives an innocent “Hi” to delight of the crowd. The magic starts soon after. Enjoy!

Saw the band 2 weeks ago at Catalina Jazz Trax 2021. The band played real tight totally listening to each other’s complex improvisation. It was great considering I started following Spyro since I was a HS student in ph during the late 70/early 80s.

That bass player's guitar strap is unique. It looks custom. I sure could use a strap like that. Right now I'm using an M-brace which works darn good, but limits mobility.

Too bad Spyro Gyra couldn't get a drummer that "really fit" the historic style of the band and it's arrangements of the past... Julio could have at least learned Chet Catello's solo for City Kids... Still a fan, though!😊

They have had much better drummers in the past that could really set the groove. I'm not feeling this as much as how they used to sound.

Joel Rosenblatt was the drummer of all drummers for Spyro. Sad he left. Caught him at the Blue Note NYC several months ago with Bernie Williams, he was cooking.

Very much so! And currently touring across the U.S. jay beckenstein ( sax player) is 70 yrs old and still sounds amazing
