I recently learned Tom Schuman retired and left the band, I wanted to hear his replacement chris fischer on the keyboards. I think he will do well, he is a good keyboard player. It's strange to see them play without Tom Schuman he has been with them for so long.

Spryro Gyra was the most exciting live jazz act 1980-1990’s. The greatest shows. I saw them so many times, it was always an up exciting time. Thanks Jay n crew !

That bass player's guitar strap is unique. It looks custom. I sure could use a strap like that. Right now I'm using an M-brace which works darn good, but limits mobility.

Too bad Spyro Gyra couldn't get a drummer that "really fit" the historic style of the band and it's arrangements of the past... Julio could have at least learned Chet Catello's solo for City Kids... Still a fan, though!😊

Why did they don´t uses more musicians, as in the past?

I would see the group at the first and only jazz festival put on by an area casino here in Central California five months after this show. Different playlist tho, except for the song Julio sang. The CD "A Foreign Affair" has just been released so the focus was on promoting the music from the new CD. Bonny B was back with the band by then...Fast forward 10 years to last Friday (Nov. 20, 2021)...I traveled nearly 100 miles to the Gallo Theater in Modesto, CA to see them play. The band sounds as good as ever and did not dissappoint (they even played Old San Juan).

Saw the band 2 weeks ago at Catalina Jazz Trax 2021. The band played real tight totally listening to each other’s complex improvisation. It was great considering I started following Spyro since I was a HS student in ph during the late 70/early 80s.

They have had much better drummers in the past that could really set the groove. I'm not feeling this as much as how they used to sound.
