- Just a quick video about getting the power windows working again. All you need is a 7 mm socket (on a screwdriver handle works best) a medium sized Philips screwdriver and a flat blade screwdriver or flat tools to get the door panel off. Be carefull when the power window mechanism starts to work, You don't want to get anything caught in the moving arms.

It worked! Genius! Thank Jesus and the Almighty! So happy this hack worked for me! Thanks again
If it weren't for this video, my truck would be drenched inside right now. Your UA-cam saved the day!! Just bought this truck and this happened. Watched your video, followed your steps, and got my effin window rolled up. Sounds clunky going down, but for the mean time I got it up just in time for a thunderstorm. It's like the internet brought me to you, or you to me. Either way, my world is complete for the time being. You are a window wizard!
My '01 S10 driver's side window is stuck closed, now working again. Thanks for directing my 🔨 to the motor and not my head. Like the Fonz finessing the juke box at Arnold's. Haaay 👍 👍.
Hi there Guy. I am glad it worked for you too....The Fonz was o to something..ha ha...that was a good show..1,2,3 O'Clock ..4 O'Clock rock...😉
Old vid, but just saved me the hassle of replacing both window motors.
Thank you for the video it proved very effective in fixing my problem today!
A little percussive maintenance comes in very handy at times.
Thank you so much! Worked first try!
Just tried it on my 2002 Sonoma, works. Thanks.
Hi Gus. I'm glad it worked for you...just keep an eye on the lower outside weather strip..it can ride up and allow the glass to jam . Cheers Chris 👍
Thanks for the video as the hammer worked perfectly!!!!!!
I am glad it worked for you too! My outside weatherstripping moves up and then the window jams..but when you try the button..and you hear the click..the motor is trying..just needs a little help. Cheers Chris.
Thanks man just tried it on my blazer and it worked thanks alot
Hey man, just did this to my 98 Blazer and it worked like a charm! I'll have to keep an eye on it I suppose but saved me from having to spend cash!
Thanks buddy
Cool! Keep an eye on the outer weather strip where it meets the glass too. On mine it sort of rises up and jammed the glass. Glad it worked!
This worked for me, hope it lasts. Thanks for the video!
The only thing I would add is to try and drill a small hole near the motor brushes and spray in some contact cleaner like DeOxit!
I have the same thing but in a 2002 blazer I can slam the door just hard enough and it will start working
This worked for me!!! thanks for the post...
Hi Vincent, I am glad it worked. Sometimes motors have a "Dead Spot" from starting at the same place and they just need a bump.
Hey!! This worked for me, thanks man!!!
Hi Carolyn, I am glad that worked for you. My window quit again, but I have a new fix, turns out the outside weather strip pops up causing the window to jam. So I made video part 2. ua-cam.com/video/CPVJZY9AiB0/v-deo.html . In the video I figured out a easy way to test the motor too, Cheers !
Ur awesome plan and simple.thanks
My sons blazer window started acting up ....definitely will try this
Dude. Really? A new motor is 25 dollars. Obviously this is not a proper fix. If you're going to pull the panel off, pull the regulator out and put a new motor on it.
Hey Heywood...The problem I have is not with the motor. The problem is the outside horizontal weatherstrip slowly moves up over time. Then the motor pushes the glass higher than normal and slightly outward ..it jams..and gets stuck. If the motor clicks when you move the switch..it is working and is trying to pull the glass down...but the glass is stuck.
Getting the arms to move down a bit will let the motor turn and pull the glass back down. Or a few taps can loosen things up.
If you have a problem where the window does not want to go up..by all means change the motor.
Locally they only sell the regulator and motor together for $100. Then you have to drill out the factory rivets to swap it out. 😕. I think I did this quick fix twice in 3 years and it only takes me about 15 minutes now. I did another video where I drilled a small hole in the motor body and sprayed in some contact cleaner and that seemed to help too. I covered the hole with some metal duct tape.
I just didn't want to swap out the motor and still have the same problem.
God I love this man!!!!❤️❤️❤️
Hi Rex, If you add a new power source, have an inline fuse in the wire. Cut the old one so you don't put power into something else, but leave some wire to reconnect to.
Hammer worked for me also thanks
Cool! Glad it worked for you... Keep an eye on the outside weatherstrip...it can ride up and allow the window to go up too far and jam.😆
It worked...Thanks
This worked for a month... stopped working again... i've ordered a replacement motor on ebay for less than $20 including shipping...
That is a good deal. I can't touch one for under $100. locally.
Was it hard to install
pollutedcrimson has to have been being that they are riveted in.
Once the door panel is off, why not just replace the motor? It's definitely failing, so why not fix the problem while the door panel is off??
If i can get a little more life out the motor by doing it this way I will. If it was easy as just changing the motor i would but the rivets have to be drilled out in the motor and the regulator so if i can avoid that for a bit i will.
What if a rear window rolls down but not up? Also strangely it went all the way down and did go up halfway but no more. Made the mistake of rolling it all the way down now trying to pop the panel off to reverse the motor polarity lol
Hi there. If it came half way up the motor had power so the motor may be on the way out..look at your dome light and see if it goes dim as you try the switch..if it does ..power is at the motor and trying to turn it...but it could have a problem with binding in the track or the linkage or rollers that let's the window go up and down. When you get the panel off you may be able to give the motor a few taps on the way up..or carefully help lift it with a stick of wood . There are lots of sharp metal and gears in there so try to avoid using your hand when you try to get it to move. You can try pulling up on the glass at the top and see if the glass feels stuck or loose. Hope that helps.
This is also I sign that the motor is going too, FYI you can do it with a starter too. But one day it wouldn't work!
Hi . On our truck the lower outer weather strip along the bottom of the window moves up after a while...then the window goes up a bit more than it should and jams there...the motor can't pull it down without some help. On a really worn motor like a fuel pump..yes it is just a matter of time..but you get a bit more life out of it and get a plan together.
Worked like a charm lol
quick fix, and quickly fails again. just replace the motor, unless you like doing the job twice.
only thing this is good for is getting the window up if rain is coming and you don't have a new motor yet.
i saw the weatherstrip comments, but you didn't mention this in the video.
I had the window jam again last week on the passenger side. I had it working again in 10 minutes. I still haven't had to buy a motor for either door. A new motor would probably have more torque to pull the window down ...out of a jam...but this works for me. I will update when it jams again.
The passenger side window went out in my chevy s10 2002 and I will def try this!
Video didn't even show how to do it?
I do not have power to the window switch. I have read the schematics and checked the 50 A. fuses but still no power. I have power to all the other switches. I am thinking of connecting the source that works to the window control. Any suggestions. Rex
CAR WIL SAY WAAAAAAAA
I talked shit about ur video at first LMAO then it worked.. now I'm eating my words..
that really didn't fix anything. in 3 days it'll be stuck again.
In my other video I sprayed contact cleaner in the motor. Both are still working on my truck.
Hahaha
