no matter how many times i watch your trim, cut layer vids---it cracks me up!! you are so 'not a big deal' in cutting your hair..u do it so effortlessly..i think i am more tense than you are and its not my hair!! lol..but you have given me the confidence to know that 'its only hair, it will grow back'--snip snip..i just took off at least an ndex finger length of bad ends off my hair because of you and am wearing marley twists protective styles while trying to transition to natural..it has been almost 3 mos post relaxer and i cant believe that my natural hair texture is pretty tolerable..this is from someone who used to put touch ups at 6wks..my edges are wavy surprisingly..thank u so much for ur vids!!
If you experience alot of breakage or you ends feel dry and brittle/won't curl or straighten properly, then it's time to trim. Try to trim or dust your ends monthly.
I would like to thank you, because now I’m seeing my hair really flourish because of your great tips about hair care!!😊😊😊! Like I had mentioned to you, that my hair is thin, but now I’m seeing my hair get fuller from your tips!! I’m getting to know my hair a lot better now, and I’m finding oils and conditioner that is great for my hair, because just like your said, it’s only hair and it will grow back!! Thank you 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾😊😊😊
I truly believe (regardless of hair type) If you're consistent with (CMT) conditioning, moisturizing and regular trims any style will work for you. If I could get my cousins hair straight and keep it straight (her hair is like cotton) then I'm sure there is hope for you! :-)
I wish I could cut mine but it's not straight and a lot shorter than yours, but your hair looks great, yours are my favorite UA-cam hair videos. I told my niece who has long flat ironed hair about you and she trimmed her hair after watching your video.
Don't forget, a contributor to hair damage and bad ends is rough handling, especially when it's wet and its most fragile. Treating your hair like the finest silk, wrapping it up and keeping it carefully moisturized by not allowing it contact with cotton pillowcases and wool collars and hats, really helps too!
Great technique, I have been a fully natural girl now since May and I am lookin forward to growing my natural hair out, your cutting technique is similar to what I do already. great job sharing.
@Justasimpleservant74 Yes...I agree with you...that definitely can happen (it happened to a couple of my girlfriends). In my case...I believe its genetics. My hair has been like this as a kid (my sister's hair is the same way). To avoid adding to the "tension" as you mentioned...I just purchased my first satin bonnet (everyone swears by) 2 weeks ago, as opposed to wrapping it all the time! I'll see if that makes a difference over time.
@BarbeeSpeaks I don't gauge...I just chop the ends. Once my hair is done...it all comes together well (the cut really doesn't matter - it all blends in). My hair is currently uneven, but I'm waiting till next month to even it (give the right side time to catch up).
I trimmed my hair 6 days ago for the first time and I'm really hoping that I do retain more length that way. I heard that you lose a lot of hair over time by combing and styling dead or damaged hair. I don't like how my hair looks choppy but like you said, hair grows back!!
I found this to be very helpful....I blew my hair out and went ham! lol Wasn't to worried about it being perfectly even since I won't be straightening for another 5/6 months. I liked this better than trimming the twists...felt like I could gage more what was broke off with my hair blown out!
Great hair you Have love how you take care of your hair and products you use to maintain good nd healthy hair.I 've natural hair on but I don't think I can have my length as yours cause of the weather condition in my country but I will do my best to have Atleast 18-20 inches in 3years to come thanks for your updates
LOL...my hair is thinner on my left side too. That is funny. Love your har. I myself could never heat straighten mine again...lol. You have beautiful hair
@TheMissLatorya it was easier for my to just chop off all my hair and start over, but if you want a slow transition I would cut an inch off each month until all the relaxer has completely grown out! I'm not sure what BC is...
@SistaWithRealHair Thanks for the speedy reply. I see the results on your hair. You hair is absolutely beautiful and even thou I have a completely different texture, my hair is also growing but at a much slower pace which may be because of the trimming factor. Since I am trying to grow my hair, I will trim about a 1/8 inch every 2 months instead of every 4 months and eventually do the 1 month after I reach my desired length. I am loving growing my natural hair!

I vented about the thread/forum (got it outta my system) now the topic is OFFICALLY CLOSED! DONE! BEHIND me! Questions/comments regarding ** HAIR **I will happily partake, but anything outside of that...I'm not interested! So...lets move forward and continue to discuss one of my favorite topics...HAIR!
@Chrissynysc Yeah...well it's true! lol People are so afraid of cutting their hair...holding on to dead ends will cause more damage in the end! A regular trim will lead to healthier hair.
I love your videos and I think your hair is beautiful I am inspired that you are so inclined to easily cut your hair the way you do but it doesn't seem like it's even , you said you're right side was shorter I would think that you would make your left side shorter to match up with your right side, it just looks like it is so uneven.
@Mew0116 I still trimmed my hair 1/2-inch every month/month in a half (even at 4 inches). I wanted to maintain my length, NOT grow longer hair. I've been on a No trim/No heat challenge since Nov 1 - I'm planning the big reveal of how much my hair has grown since then (without trimming it). Watch my 10 tips to getting longer hair video (if you want your hair to grow faster) I think you'll find it helpful! :-)
HELLO , HOW LONG AND IN BETWEEN DO YOU TRIM YOUR HAIR . AS WELL AS YOU DO TAKE GREAT CARE OF YOUR HAIR I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE HOW A MESS YOUR ENDS WERE . WITH THE LESS HEAT AND ALL THAT MIOSTURE YOU PUT INTO IT .
Hello new subbie here ---- Your hair is just beautiful ---- I myself have almost bra strap lenght hair ---- I do like my own relaxers and color and things like that to save money --- but I was always afraid to do my own hair trimming ----- watching your video I think I will give it a try to do it myself
@sexyyoungin287 Usually every month, but since I've been on my challenge (since Nov 1st) I won't be trimming until the first day of spring. I'm excited to see how much hair growth I will accomplish once I straighten.
Have you ever trimmed your hair wet and do you suggest straightening natural hair to get a accurate trim? Also how much and how often did you trim when you didn't want to maintain length and grow your hair longer? Have you ever used a blow dryer and then flat ironed your hair and achieved the same results or did your hair break off? I know it's a lot of questions but i would really appreciate it alot if you would respond, thank you so much. :)
I just found your channel so my question is how often did you cut your hair when it was around 4 inches long? My hair is now around 7 inches long and I would like it to grow faster. I only trim once ever four months.
Is it better to trim your ends on straight hair? My hair is usually curly 99% of the time but i am going to try the 31 day challenge. Is it the same to trim last instead of first doing the 5 step process?
ye mine too and i was told if i was wrapping it on one side to start switching sides and eventually kind of even out a bit...there is still i difference in length and thickness but i think that jus happens
I just have one question do you relax ur hair and if not, how so u keep it straighten? I'm I am starting from the bottom and hopefully I can get longer and healthier hair like urs. Thanks.
You are so beautiful! Wish I wasn't so scared to take care of my hair. I just don't know what to do with it!...maybe I will watch all of your vidz! You seem so knowledgeable (I subbed) :-)
My hair is almost neck length and your chopping 2 inches off which you can afford to cut off how much would you suggest I cut off or should I cut off the rough ends that are there after I straight it
i looooooooooooooove you're hair but i do think you have tot grow out your right side ( trim minimal and the left side like you always do) cuz know the difference is too big..... i think....... its not my head but i thinks its logical
Chop Chop snip snip without a care! Now that's what im talkin about! I bet it looks and feel so much better and healthier! Love it!
screeech1 haaaa she was like, 'snip, snip. right off'

My left side is thicker and longer then my right side, your hair is absolutely beautiful.
Your truly inspirational ! Thank you for making your channel. I've been watching your hair vids for two months now and I have been learning so much !
I never trim wet, always straighten first. I take off an inch. I never blow dry my hair and when I did (over 15 years ago) it broke off.
Great technique, I have been a fully natural girl now since May and I am lookin forward to growing my natural hair out, your cutting technique is similar to what I do already. great job sharing.

Excellent job. That's a thorough trim.
Can you post about how you get your hair so long ?
Gorgeous hair!

Very pretty hair, just washed and deep conditioned my hair. And it definitely needs trimmed badly....thanks for the video.

How do you know when a trim is neccesary?
What hair products do you use?
Wow my left side won't grow with my right. My right front is 15in but my left side is about 12 1/2in.
yeh, why does that happen, mine is thicker on one side. Stupid right?
