Hi you have to score the plastic. there is a line guide that will guide you where to cut it. All you need is a knife and slowly you can do multiple passes till the plastic opens. hope this helps
My A.C. Is not working as good as I would like it to. I thought I would change the cabin air filter. Guess I don’t have one. Maybe the evaporator is clogged like yours. I will still do this but now I will plan for more time. Thank you for making this video.
Hello you are welcome. After I cleaned it was much better. Taking out the evaporator would be a lot of work. Thats why I did the simple cleanup. Hope it works
Another thing it could be is you leave your climate control on. Your supposed to turn it off before you cut your car off. It builds mildew inside the hvac box
yes you can score it with a blade till the plastic opens up. You might have to do it a few times but eventually will open. Dont use any electric tools so you dont get any of the plastic debris on the coil. thanks hope it works
Hello they design the box to drip under the evaporator so it wont drip on that cover. Also air flow is towards the inside on the opposite side of that cover. I owned other GM suv and they come with that cover. thanks
Hello the AC system always has a drain. As you clean the evaporator use a rag to put on top of your carpet and also a pan. If you add water and nothing comes out from the bottom you might have a clogged drain. You can try using a pump sprayer to put soap and water into the evaporator or make a jig to the water hose like I did. Do an inspection to see if its really dirty before you do that. Once you open the plastic see if it needs to be clean and if its not dirty then just add the filter and cover in the Doorman kit. Hope it works let me know if you have any questions. Thank you
Your instructions on taking the cabin filter out well they weren’t instructions and yours was already loose thanks for the help
Made video years ago was difficult to film and score the plastic but its easy with a blade. Just score it little by little and will break.
How did you get the panel off so easy? I cannot get it off

Finally!! Thank you! YOU HAVE TO CUT OUT THAT PIECE FOR IT TO COME OUT👏
You are welcome I know its crazy that GM didnt include it. Much better now.
Very tough to cut at such a weird angle 😫
@@Big_daddy713 A bit but if you use a new blade it can be done. Hope your evaporator is not as dirty as mine. thanks

Thank you I feel the same way GM didnt put a filter inside the Escalade. thanks
Thank you for your help
I was trying to remove mine and it's fixed together with the Cabins. I just left it there
Nice work. Is it possible to just replace that second filter in the back?
Hello not sure I follow your question on the second filter. As far as I know there is only one filter in the air condition evaporator location. Thanks
Parts manuals say the cabin air filter here is unserviceable. I guess I see why.
So i have to cut it out???

I don’t understand how condensation does not drip down and the leak out of this area once you cut the plastic rectangle out…

@@ExtremDIY cool. Thanks. Ordered mine yesterday. It should be here by Saturday.
@@ExtremDIYThe evaporator also sits a couple inches lower than the filter opening.
Thank you for the info
Where do you drainage it?
