You are so on point. I will never forget when I first met prince in Hollywood at a carwash just before his 1st concert of his "Dirty Mind" tour in 1982.j
8 years later and I still bawl when I watch this. Sheila E… just a short time after Prince died… I don’t know how she kept it together during the performance. The look on her face as she lowered the guitar down at the end of the performance… says it all. #Prince4Ever
Man. Watching this again in 2024 and my eyes started tearing up just like they did that night when I saw it going down on live TV, at the end when the cameras came in on the close up of Sheila's sad face. Such a kick ass performance by everyone on that stage and a perfectly flawless, and musically respectful tribute to greatest living musician of my lifetime. Shelia did such a great job with the arrangements too, Im sure Prince was with her that night watching, rocking ,and no doubt feeling very proud and moved. Sheila, I realize you'll never see this comment, and that you don't know me but ima write it anyway, I just wanted to say that I still love just as much as I did when i first heard and saw you on MTV singing about the Glamorous Life in 1984, and I hope you can please accept my very late by 8 years thank you for putting this awesome tribute together that night for all of us to honor our hero, Prince. Sheila E is a Beautiful Lady. Her Tribute to Prince was great and She loves Children and she is very talented. She is down to earth and She loves Prince. Now that he died His Music WILL LIVE ON thru other people and thru His love and thru His passions
This was the Prince send off to heaven that he deserved. Only she could pull this off. The end was so emotional. It was a true goodbye. Brings me to tears every time. RIP Prince. You were a star on earth and now a star in the sky.
The ending was fake just like Sheila E's fake self. She pocketed the proceeds that were donated from charities after Prince' passing❗ Her face at the end looked so stupid . Did not look mournful...she looked angry. Trying _too_ _hard_ to look sad, but instead Sheila E looked mad~faced! She looked ridiculous sliding on stage. Too old too. She almost couldn't get back up. 😂 Notice her _true_ character. She's a big fake.
Out of all the Prince tributes I have seen I thought this was the best because her energy demonstrates the contagious and passionate spirit of Prince's music on people.
Lisa DeRenard right ! She was reliving them old band/touring days MAGICAL !! The spirit of Prince was definitely in here to possess her to hit that baseball slide at 60 years old lol
I'm absolutely astounded by Sheila's performance and how much she honored Prince with her and her crews ability to give a show, in Prince's style. Absolutely fantastic. Love you bunches, Sheila.
I am sure that Prince was smiling down on Sheila and Mayta ...and band! He would be very proud. He and Sheila were very dear friends and she knew him more than anyone. Freaking best tribute!!!!!
Honey I saw Shelia perform in the 80s and she was on FIRE...🔥🔥 Just because people didn’t know she had it in her definitely doesn’t mean it wasnt there. She ate that stage up and kept everybody’s attn from start to finish. She got her record deal for a reason!
5 years later, I still have tears running down my face watching this. Sheila, I am so proud of you. Every one did a bang up job of bringing Prince through. God that was fun! Great job!
Out of all the tributes to Prince they had on all the award shows, I am not sure why this is the only one that thought Shelia E. There was no better artist than Sheila E to do a tribute for the Artist Known as Prince. I also totally loved Jerome being there .. LOVED every minute of this.
I have to say the most touching thing about this is their bravery in going out there crushing it while grieving. He was surrounded by some rock solid people through the years, and they showed their true colors on this night! Thank you!
Wow! Sheila E's love for Prince, beyond space and time, exudes from her every move, note and showmanship during this musical expression of love. Infinitely beautiful. Sheila E, you are amazing.
Bad she is! I've never seen a drama Rock and kill the drums like she does! She gives me chills! Prince and Sheila E surround themselves with excellent Talent, each other!
The end is really special with Sheila And Mayte both standing for the man they loved and praising that guitar, that was powerful and you could see how emotional it was for them...
Every now and then my mind wanders to Prince. Such a wonderful soul. I find myself looking at this video several times and tears can’t help but fall. This tribute is so wonderful and I’m sure Prince would have been pleased
Can't nobody do a better Tribute than Sheila E. and the NPG with Mayte, The Twins and of course Jerome Benton (born and raised in my hometown Omaha Nebraska ) he's my favorite character since Purple Rain and Under The Cherry Moon. Thanx 4 the video... Wish he was here. Live 4 love
That particular "Cloud guitar" (So called because they fit the Cloud Suit that Prince wore in the "Raspberry Beret" video so well) is one of the original four that guitar builder Dave Rusan made Prince. It was his second White one he used in the "Purple rain" tour and after having it refinished black in the "Parade" tour. It later was his main cloud during the Lovesexy tour refinished light blue and brought back during the early 2000's era when he brought the name Prince back again, he can be seen playing the guitar, refinished Purlpe as it appears here, in the live show shot in Las vegas. As for the other three. The third was given away in a raffle when "Purple Rain" the movie premiered. The fourth, finished in Yellow is in the Smithsonian museum. And then there was the first, the one from the movie, that original one. Which was completely destroyed by Prince at the very last show of the "Parade" tour.

I hope, really hope, that Sheila can get over his passing n it much of taken a lot of courage to do this.
She said she said No first time then she started making calls seeing who was available then picking up beat songs. Notice no Purple Rain. Then songs everyone had played together...then choreography etc. She did Great.
Super medley and great tribute to the Prince of Music. It's well known they were friends for many, many years. Shelia and Mayte are in real pain and both loved him deeply. RIP Prince. 💜

Ugggh...One of these times I will be able to watch this without tearing up ..Love you Sheila & Mayte...and of course Jerome!
This was definitely the best tribute to our amazing Prince.
OMG !!!! I know Prince was looking down smiling. In interviews Prince had done, when asked the question "Who Would Be On Your Dream Team Of Musicians "? He always said most DEFINITELY Sheila E on the drums !!! She is so so talented. You can see the emotions in that performance from her to Prince. RIH Prince 💖💖💖🎤🎤🎤🎶🎶🙏🙏🙏
Very beautiful Sheila E ......she did an excellent job in this video.......
Thank you Shelia. Outstanding and very relevant. So much love for you and Prince.
Sheila E was the Perfect Choice... Funk On!
I can never get enough of watching this tribute! Sheila E and Mayte Garcia (musicians & dancers too) did an incredible job!!! The ending always gets me when you see and feel the love in their eyes. The band sounded like they were truly having fun and funky as all hell!!! Love you and thank you so much! Miss you Prince...
That whole night was just amazing. From Beyonce and Kendrick, to janelle Monae, to Jennifer Hudson and then Shelia E. Just amazing talent and great music.

Alright, Sheila for bringing the Housequake!
Sister went _deep_ into the back catalog for this set.
Sheila E is fab!! I saw her live three years ago and she is such a true performer. Her connection with the audience was so intimate. Like she invited us over in her home.
but hey, she worked with the best 💜
Please welcome the incomparable Sheila E.
This was a beautiful tribute ! She knew and loved him personally so you can feel her dedication to the performance! Good job Shelia.
The power is prince..

Sheila e. is my favorite artist. She is amazing! Read 'the Beat of my own drum' a memoir of her life.
Man, I can't begin to tell you how lucky e Gen-xers were lucky to have Prince making music during our "formative years"! We got to experience his genius in real-time.
Still amazing. Sheila E..you see her pain but also the love she has for Prince.
