Westward migration??? It was a hostile invasion and conquest of Byzantine lands. In fact, of the five sees of Christianity only one remains all the others being seized and desecrated one after the other by the forces of Islam. In the never ending 'holy war' and conquests the Muslim texts demand. Such events were common in human history until very recently! You are more than willing to use condemning languge when describing the Crusaders trying to stem the tide. Stop using appeasing terminology when describing the Islamic conquests. Describe them exactly as what they were. Noone should be offended by centuries old historical fact that noone alive today had anything to do with.

Byzantine? wasn't called that back then. It was quite simply the Eastern Roman Empire which came from.....Rome? at a guess. So the 'Romans' were persian were they? maybe they were Arabs?.....The Crusaders were ultimately defeated in the Holy Land, Acre being the last to fall. The City of Acre was the capital of the Crusader state for almost exactly 100 years until once more resurgent Muslim forces recaptured most of the holy land. Acre was the last City to fall, most of the remaining members of the other military orders including the Templars and Hospitallers went down fighting on the wall to the last, but not the Teutonic order, with their perhaps more rational ethos negotiated a way out. All the military orders who existed in Acre at the time of the final Siege and the fall of Acre, they all fought, still the city fell, we know however the Teutonic Knights headquarters, which they called their Convent, actually negotiated it’s surrender to the victorious Muslims the Mamluk Army which had broken in and the survivors left. So in a way the Teutonic Knights went out with a bit of a whimper rather than a bang.
