Why watch these at all? I was actually stunned by how little Destiny added to this. Hasan's commentary was hilarious, but only because he is an actual moron.
I mean I'm no criminal mastermind but surely "I heard shouting and gunshots so I hid in the attic/closet/whatever and called the cops" is a much easier story to remember than whatever episode of CSI she ripped off.
Just started this, but it reminds me so far of a woman from my highschool that I was acquaintances with. She's presently out of prison, but her mother would abuse her for poor grades and recital performances. One day, she had been dosed and went to class but was sent home for the drug use, her mom started the same thing and she snapped, stabbing her mother to death. Afterwards she called her father and told him what happened. It was a huge case at my school and in Kansas City at the time, because she was Chinese American who was 16 and victim of repeated abuses and many people tried to argue she should be tried as an adult using mostly racialized claims about where her parents had come. Happy to say, she is now out, married, and working very hard to be invested in the local community and reforms in Kansas City. Not super relevant, but much of the home life being described reminded me of this situation alot.
9:30 I agree with Destiny that in most cases when you lie, giving specifics, is too far fetched. But i also believe in the case of a very traumatic experience or a life death situation, your brain kinda slow down how you perceive time and starts noticing everything in more detail. I'm pretty sure i've heard many times that people engaged in those traumas, were able to give a lot of detail, like for example being able to have a face artist draw a very good sketch of a murderer by a witness. I haven't been in that case but it's a guess. I would assume that if you were walking down a street and saw two person talking VS the same scenario but one of them shoot the other person, in that second case you would have this kind of picture of the guy who did it, a clear photo of the moment, engraved in your short memory. And my guess is that on the long term, your memory would do the opposite, trying to "burry" as much surrounding that traumatic event ? Idk i'm not a psychologist, i'm just assuming, would love a professional opinion :P
in the vid she lies exactly how I do when im lying about a story. Using the word because a lot especially like when she says "because I was sitting next to the stairs" or anything like this. Ive never noticed until now, this way of using because is used as an add-on to certain parts she was lying about in order to sound like the story makes sense. If a person was actually living the events this would be almost never seen amongst a story telling for an investigation. Its said by the narrator and by destiny, shes so focused on remembering what happened such as a person in her shoes would buuuut because of her use of "because" it seems she is hyperfocused in slipping little building block details in.
In one of Lawrence Sanders' books, "The Second Deadly Sin", the main character (a detective) basically confirms that the murder suspect did it by asking him what he had for lunch. The suspect recounts in great detail what he had for lunch during the day the victim was murdered, even though the murder happened quite a while ago. Then the detective asked what he had eaten more recently and surprisingly the suspect couldn't remember, and the detective points that this is because he didn't NEED to remember. He explains that often criminals make up a too precise story and "remember" details no normal person would.

@@Plainbear No. The way you refer to someone can speak to your relationship to them. You would call an acquaintance who you may not of gotten the name of "that gentleman over there." The thermal imaging can detect weed grows, but only because they can see the heat escaping the house or they see one house/apartment is significantly hotter than the ones around it. It’s not like it provides some sort of x-ray where they can see people inside and what position of people are in. The only way to be able to see inside is if there is a window, a skylight, or some sort of opening that would allow them to see through with their naked eye.
Been watching a lot of Dexter lately and I've a few ideas of my own. And now Destiny's advice just... clicked, it was the final missing piece. I think I will get away with a murder... in a videogame.
@@Leinja Oh I remember Dexter. I miss the first time watching it. While Hannibal is a better show by all metrics, highly recommend, Dexter will forever be a nostalgic favorite.
1:19:40 was stupid to lie about "x-raying a house'. Jennifer should have just said. "Okay we can skip all this interrogation and you just look at THAT footage for the case, I'm done" Would have been hilariously to see the cop walk back all those stupid lies. Shame she's not that clever. Ironically looking up the prison where she'd held now in Canada... her life is probably more stress free without her parents and is arguably better than it was under them. Tiger-parenting is stupid, equal blame all around. RIP lul.
@John Sampson actually mostly depends on if both guilty and innocent dude knows that they are suspects, guilty once usually don't burst out and show emotions but wrongly accused do
Editor for these videos ever thought about posting timestamps where destiny actually has something to say? If we've already seen the video but are just here for listening to Destiny I don't want to watch a 2 hour video for ~20 minutes of actual commentary.
Fun fact: you can beat infrared by holding a room temperature bedsheet in front of yourself. You can tell if a house is significantly hotter than others (the whole house), or if it uses WAY more electricity than others (by asking the electric company); that's been used to get warrants.
1:21:10 don't think so. You can see heat signatures for places growning weed through the walls because he heat lamps heat up the walls so much. Also, they look for places with a huge spike in power consumption in areas where they know pot is being grown. You can't see people moving inside a room through walls. Not even through clear glass as I understand it because infrared light bounces off glass so it looks like a mirror in the infrared. If you looks at a house with one of those, all you'll see is the temp of the walls. Some aplastic bags looks clear even if they are black but I don't know how well that scales up, if a 2" thick piece of plastic of the same type would still be invisible in infrared

Man, I remember being an 11-year-old paperboy in a somewhat sleepy town nearby when the newpapers came in with the mugshot on front. The entirety of that week's paper was dedicated to the case. What a trip that read was.
Interestingly enough it's theoretically possible with a van or helicopter to see "water" (we are mostly water) move around a room from a van using non ionizing radiation. There are REX sensors for security systems that use RCR instead of PIR. A more advanced version of RCR could be used to track what could be presumed to be people moving around inside a structure.
Xrays don't typically reflect, they use film similar to a camera. The rays turn the film black but where the rays get blocked by bones the film remains clear.
1:25:35 What's with this weird dry tangent on X-rays, went on for minutes. Jesus Christ i almost wish i was this Asian chicks parents post guns blazing.
If he thinks this case is frustrating he needs to watch the Michael Raferty case. Guy is honest to god such an easy to hate pos. Dude gets caught doing horrible stuff to a child and cries in the investigation because his feelings weren’t prioritized.
What’s interesting is there are tons of examples where officers have pressured suspects enough that they say or agree to incriminating statements. It’s a lot easier than you would think.
I feel like JCS pulls a lot of stuff out of his ass. Like the part about how people generally not being able to use different parts of their brains at the same time (which is clearly not true) explains why she's having a hard time maintaining her feigned grief.
I am not sure why but I got very uncomfortable watching this. Like I felt her anxiety. I wanted to turn off the video multiple times but was interested. Funny how you can be sympathetic with someones pain, even if they are guilty.
oh yeah i hadn't thought about that? she should have just moved out. that way she would have just been disowned, but after killing her parents she'll lose all communication and financial support from them anyway, as well as facing a fucking murder charge
@@tryga3138 In her mind, she possibly thought it was better to get some insurance money and possibly the house instead of getting disowned from the family and be erased from their will. In both cases she loses contact with them but in one she ends up with nothing and the other she ends up with her parents money. Well if not caught anyway. I feel this is what she taught. Cold. But calculated. It makes sense. In a sick way.
Clearly she's not focused in getting away with it. As an Asian myself I can relate to her very closely, our situation was really close to being identical. Growing up on an authoritarian household that she had as well, and it was a stereotype for a reason. It's frustrating. I can't speak for all of Asians but this type of reaction from a child is not uncommon, provided the circumstances. It's just that some are more likely to act upon it and some don't, and I just happen to fall under the latter. I don't know about westerners, though, they seem to be built different. Not exactly for the better or worse.
She made it sound worse than it was. The dad did have an “old school mentality” but her brother contradicted a lot of the things she claimed, specially towards the mom. He mentions he and Jennifer actually had a good relationship with their mom. I can understand wanting to kill the dad if he really was strict to the point of abusive, but what about the mom? Why did she have to die too?
@@jenniferhamels1176 I can only speak for my experiences, and to that I say, if things went even a slightest bit of worse for me, I probably would've been on juvie right now. I can't exactly say that there's a "logical" explanation for it, I'm just saying that there has been a study regarding suicide and both genders as well, concluding that men have been known to attempt more likely than women, but women are more likely to actually act upon it. I guess that applies to this case as well to an extent (which is her acting upon her rage and stuff). Also, it really does seem easier to assess things at a third person perspective, so I get what you mean by "her making it sound worse".
2:03:52 - you can triangulate the location of any phone, and your carrier keeps records of that for some time, duration depending on your country. It's actually pretty easy to track burner phones these days, that's why no "good" organized criminals communicate electronically in plain language anymore.
53:30 some people are so open to suggestion they'll be convinced of their own guilt when talking to a skilled and aggressive detective. It's rare but it happens.
Another vote for putting these in podcast mode. As makes some of the debates or things like this usable on train with just headphones and not need to pay money for screen to go off.
A material doesn't completely stop the x-ray. It only stops a certain part of it. The more X-rays penetrate, the whiter the region on the plate. It is not possible to reflect x-rays back from a house or a car. X-rays change their angle only slightly when they are absorbed and re-emitted. In order to achieve full reflection, you need very special equipment.
Saying your hands and arms were tied but you managed to make a phone has to be the dumbest lie ever, no wonder she was to fake her high school degree...

@@Plainbear the use of the word "gentlemen" is still weird in this circumstance and still a tell in my opinion.

The thermal imaging can detect weed grows, but only because they can see the heat escaping the house or they see one house/apartment is significantly hotter than the ones around it. It’s not like it provides some sort of x-ray where they can see people inside and what position of people are in. The only way to be able to see inside is if there is a window, a skylight, or some sort of opening that would allow them to see through with their naked eye.
Destiny really giving advice to potential murderers lol
Someones gotta, we cant have clowns like this one running around

Been watching a lot of Dexter lately and I've a few ideas of my own. And now Destiny's advice just... clicked, it was the final missing piece. I think I will get away with a murder...

@@Leinja Oh I remember Dexter. I miss the first time watching it. While Hannibal is a better show by all metrics, highly recommend, Dexter will forever be a nostalgic favorite.
I love how these turn into destiny explaining how to get away with crimes
1:19:40 was stupid to lie about "x-raying a house'. Jennifer should have just said. "Okay we can skip all this interrogation and you just look at THAT footage for the case, I'm done" Would have been hilariously to see the cop walk back all those stupid lies. Shame she's not that clever. Ironically looking up the prison where she'd held now in Canada... her life is probably more stress free without her parents and is arguably better than it was under them. To be fair destiny, she wouldn’t have been in this situation if she was capable of planning ahead lol.
I really enjoy the jcs reacts a lot. It’s a nice break from everything else going on.
When isn't destiny frustrated. It is his default emotion
would be interesting to see more examples of police interviews with falsely accused to see aa difference in innocent.
One of JCS's recent vids goes over the differences between guilty and innocent suspects
@John Sampson they are very different
@John Sampson actually mostly depends on if both guilty and innocent dude knows that they are suspects, guilty once usually don't burst out and show emotions but wrongly accused do
@John Sampson watch jcs' inocent until proven guilty
Intro is crazy good!
destiny debates > destiny reacts > panel shows
Editor for these videos ever thought about posting timestamps where destiny actually has something to say? If we've already seen the video but are just here for listening to Destiny I don't want to watch a 2 hour video for ~20 minutes of actual commentary.
Fun fact: you can beat infrared by holding a room temperature bedsheet in front of yourself. You can tell if a house is significantly hotter than others (the whole house), or if it uses WAY more electricity than others (by asking the electric company); that's been used to get warrants.
What a solid channel. Didn't put out a video for months and when they did an overwhelming amount of support. One of my favorite channels on YT💪🏾
Destiny getting mad at a C student figure skater who lived with a drug dealer boyfriend skipping school for years for not being intelligent lol. Clearly not the saltiest fry in the happy meal.
I'm always down for Destiny reacting to JCS videos.
that was hella interesting. Pls make more of these Destiny
Genuinely struggled to listen to that police line realizing her dad's begging for his life and she set him up to die.
actions speak louder than words, he was an awful parent. idk if killing is justified, but i dont feel bad nontheless
@@asya-35987 damn, being a strict parent makes you undeserving of sympathy when your kid hires assassins to kill you?
@@sameash3153 come on dude. You cannot reduce that to 'strict parenting'. There is no way any of her actions can be justified. But it's obvious that her parents were assholes and abused that girl her entire life. They created a monster and died because of it. Tragic all around.
@@jacklumsden7444?? Lol u never had bad parents before it seems. You magically think a kid wants to kill their parents with no mental illness conditions lol

The only situation where this could be justified is if she was getting beaten or molested. She had ample opportunity to cut off contact with her parents and she chose not to.
Man, I remember being an 11-year-old paperboy in a somewhat sleepy town nearby when the newpapers came in with the mugshot on front. The entirety of that week's paper was dedicated to the case. What a trip that read was.

THIS EDITING IS SO GOOD
When the competitive spirit goes horribly wrong…
Interestingly enough it's theoretically possible with a van or helicopter to see "water" (we are mostly water) move around a room from a van using non ionizing radiation. There are REX sensors for security systems that use RCR instead of PIR. A more advanced version of RCR could be used to track what could be presumed to be people moving around inside a structure.
Nerd
This editing is off the charts! Also more psycology stuff would be fun, that shit is interested as hell.
Xrays don't typically reflect, they use film similar to a camera. The rays turn the film black but where the rays get blocked by bones the film remains clear.
Destiny, this is not how radiography works...

I am not sure why but I got very uncomfortable watching this. Like I felt her anxiety. I wanted to turn off the video multiple times but was interested. Funny how you can be sympathetic with someones pain, even if they are guilty.
She could have moved out on her own but instead she chose to order for her parents to be murdered smh 🤦🏽♂️
oh yeah i hadn't thought about that? she should have just moved out. that way she would have just been disowned, but after killing her parents she'll lose all communication and financial support from them anyway, as well as facing a fucking murder charge
@@zebjwest6709 You're not trying to justify what she did, right?! Please tell me you're not..
@@tryga3138 In her mind, she possibly thought it was better to get some insurance money and possibly the house instead of getting disowned from the family and be erased from their will. So rad seeing Destiny watch JCS videos
If you spam the "back ten seconds" thing at the beginning of this vid, destiny says cheese.
I read a long time ago that they do have the tech to look inside a house. High power electrofluroscopy or something of that nature.
The fact he ran out of the house and away from his daughter says he knew she was involved
2:03:52 - you can triangulate the location of any phone, and your carrier keeps records of that for some time, duration depending on your country. I'm curious how they found the burner phones as well
A material doesn't completely stop the x-ray.
