One of the interesting aspects of maternal filicide is that a large portion of them typically include a component of suicidality by the mother (either attempted or successful). This relies on an "altruistic" component to maternal filicide, ie the mother feels as though death is a far better fate than a life relegated to some unfair existence.
The one type of of child murder by mothers that has almost NO suicidal component is the unwanted child filicide. In Casey's case, it is extremely clear she never had any intention of self-harm. Her act was so transparently self motivated, and Caylee's age was such that she evokes no sympathy, rather the opposite: revolt, disgust and even hatred. She truly is an outlier, not simply in the sense that it is miraculous she was not convicted, but in the rarity of the monster she represents.

I'm glad at least one person gets it. Abortion and in extreme cases infanticide has been part of human behavior for a long time, as is the male inclination to justify and/or overlook it. The prosecution didn't understand this and combined with their arrogance doomed them to fail. Casey herself is an example of an r-type, who facing no constraints would have as many kids as she could while putting as little effort into raising them as possible. The difference is past societies would put controls and limitations on this kind of behavior, but in modernity you can't even point it out, because the words for it don't exist.

Talking about it is almost, if not, taboo which makes no sense whatsoever. We give them incredible leeway and do deep dives into their psychology while we do the exact opposite for men. We couldn't give 2 cents about men psyche and the various trauma that got them there.
There's an even worst case than this one where the woman gave birth in a bath alone, killed the baby, burned it and burried it in her backyard.
TL:DR Dismissal. The defense pointed out that she had body dysmorphia... Basically she felt chubby and didn't want the baby. She wanted her old body back.

Wow, there was DNA in the trunk of her car from Kaleigh decomposition. There wouldn’t have been bored as the child doesn’t die from stabbing or bludgeoning. She was either drown or left in a hot car. They found her body in the woods just a couple blocks from Casey’s house. She went 31 days before even reporting her daughter missing and it took the Mom threatening her for that to even happen. Also, she lied about literally everything including the babysitter. And she would go to parties and the baby was on accounted for, so where was she?
My theory is Casey was giving her Xanax and letting her sleep in the car while she was out partying. The child likely ODs and CA panicked and put her body in the trunk and made up the babysitter. FFS, she called her babysitter “Xany the Nanny” and made up the name Zenaida Gonzalez, so that is some weird ass psychology. Like the Xanax was the babysitter.
Also on her computer there was someone had been typing into the browser “child poisoning” other types of macabre phrases regarding child death. I mean, they didn’t have a video of her killing the kid, but there was enough circumstantial evidence to convict her 100 times over in my opinion. She had the means, motive and opportunity to do it. It’s definitely true that you can often notice when people aren’t listening to what you’re saying. Especially when their responses miss the whole point. But you can also see that the processing going on in their head is less about what you’re saying and more about other things.
We all zone out occasionally while listening to someone, or we fake our way through a conversation with someone who has broken English or otherwise isn’t coherent. In those instances I always feel so awkward. Like I’m just paying attention really carefully to non-verbal cues to determine when I should nod or say “right. And anyone who is observant of other people should be able to figure out when someone isn’t hearing the content of what you’re saying.
