- Robert Fripp's "Music for Quiet Moments" series. We will be releasing an ambient instrumental soundscape online every week for 50 weeks. Something to nourish us, and help us through these Uncertain Times.
"Quiet moments are when we put time aside to be quiet. Sometimes quiet moments find us. Quiet may be experienced with sound, and also through sound; in a place we hold to be sacred, or maybe on a crowded subway train hurtling towards Piccadilly or Times Square.
Quiet Moments of my musical life, expressed in Soundscapes, are deeply personal; yet utterly impersonal: they address the concerns we share within our common humanity." Robert Fripp

I used to listen to Frippertronics after dinner in my adolescent days, thinking: "what am I doing here? shouldn't I be studying or sleeping?" So here I am, nearly 40 years later, while my family is sleeping, once again lost in reverie like I used to, a true believer in his ministry of music. Thank you once again and for all, Mr. Fripp.
Beautiful words... i am 23. I hope my future brings me that feeling too...
When the time comes, if the future allows it, then I will remember these words...
Very beautiful
The fact that there’s at least 52 of these… go Robert
...And for a moment lasting 13 minutes and 17 seconds, the world stood still, and sadness and happiness became one.
Remanicence of Harold Budd and Eno, Both such Excellent artists.
It was a beautiful evening in Barcelona..
Thanks for the experience ❤
Thank You, Mr. Fripp, for these landscapes for my mind to travel somewhere outside this time and space.
.....When peace becomes Music... Thank you deeply
I got to see Mr. Fripp when he opened for Porcupine Tree at the Olympia in Paris back in 2009. Most people in audiance were disappointed, maybe they were expecting another "prog metal" band as opening act, but I enjoyed every second of his performance.
Should have been Porcupine Tree opening for Mr Fripp if you ask me
Salama Nicolas I saw his soundscapes tour of 2007? It was awesome seeing him in venues that were under 500 seats, and with an appreciative audience that knew what they were in for. He has a very dry wit. He was very generous with his time during the Q&A.
I saw the Amsterdam and Brussels gigs and same. And don't start me on the people that took pics with flash...
@Mordred's Quest I'm just saying what happened and what I saw. Later Fripp would say how annoyed he was and that he didn't leave because he was supporting PT and was not his own gig.
Sad to hear about such disrespect, if they only knew how much Fripp influenced their favorite musicians they would have listened a little harder!
I could listen to his soundscapes all day long
The two most remarkable men that I have had the chance to (briefly) meet: 1) Neil Armstrong and 2) Robert Fripp. I can't decide which left me more in awe. Says it all, doesn't it?
Muchas gracias señor Robert Fripp, muchas gracias...
teleportation by music is highly advanced in Fripp's respect.
Awesome ,Like so Same konton-control!
Thanks Mr. Fripp.
Thank you for the wonderful soundscapes you're posting. This week's piece is truly beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.
Heartbreaking. Thank you, Robert.
Put on my earbuds close my eyes travel to a different peaceful universe with Mr. Fripp thank you Robert!
Ahhhh yes, sure feeling better than I was a little while ago. Music to breathe some life back into us. Thank you sir.
With age brings wisdom. We're witnessing the change that comes with the 'gloden years'.
omg
Just what the doctored ordered.
I’ll personally refer to this as “The Physics of Distancing”
Adding fourth musical dimension to the current three ones.
I just want to say, thank you to Maestro Fripp. You and the rest of the band are going to be miss in July the 9th in Québec City. Long live to the King.
FRANCOIS DION my father saw them once for the power to believe tour at the grand théâtre. He told me that the sound was so perfect. I really wish to see them live beacause i enjoy king crimson a lot. Maybe next year!
Gracias Robert
Hi ya, Robert. I’m a drummer originally from USA but immigrated to UK in ‘96. I’ve always been a wanna be guitar player. I’ve also taken your brilliant artistry for granted. My heroes have largely been other amazing innovators eg Robin Guthrie, Kevin Shields, Sonic Youth, but you were there from the beginning, making your biggest impact on me in ‘83 playing the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles with King CriMson. And then fell in love again with your work w/D.Sylvian. But “where is the Bowie or the Eno?”, many might wonder. For some reason it was delayed to 2020, of all years. A year of strange new ambience and hidden heroes. I shall mention one influenced by your work w/Bowie one Robert Dean - formerly of Japan, which served as a bridge to your pioneering sounds of incredible fanTasticism. I look forward to QM 2 in the coming day while I also await my first vinyl copy of Heroes. For today I shall cue up “Beat” side two. Ta
Fripp ogni volta ci apre le porte della sua anima e del suo mondo e ci offre questi doni che sono i suoni dello spazio, della vita e dello spazio, della vicinanza e della lontananza. Una grande opera Mr. Fripp
His quiet mutterings sink into my heart.
Oh mr Fripp you have inspired me since I first discovered kc back in the early 70’s. a unique playing style and a unique take on what music is and what it’s for. Who else is able to make your ears bleed with ferocious and savage guitar one minute then make your heart melt with extraordinary beauty the next.
Gracias Don Roberto....
Thank you for this. You're making places, not just music.
What an incredible feeling listening to this. Multiple dimensions and points in space both near and far. It almost seems biological, like an evolution of microscopic life dividing and multiplying while always connected and communicating. Really wished it could go on for hours ... looking forward to more. I’m blessed to have attended one of Robert’s Frippertronics sessions so many years ago at NYC Limelight when it was still a church. Have always been a KC fan and now reliving it through my twin sons who are more fanatical than me! We all caught the KC50 show at Radio City and will never forget it.
Thank you Robert.
Thank you Mr Fripp for making my morning just that bit calmer. As I start work I am soothed and memories come flooding back of first listening to an album of Frippertronics in 1980 and being inspired to replicate the sound in the college studio with a couple of Revoxes and my guitar.
Music to my ears. Gave me the Sakamato + Fennesz vibes
thank you sir your music for quiet moments helps while this lockdown shuts me away from the world.
I got an audition in a band in '80 because I told the keyboard player I was recuperating at home from a car accident by making tapes with 2 tape recorders and a fretless bass, then soloing over it. He knew what I was talking about. Thank you Robert & Brian. The original small mobile unit.
Genius. Thank you master
Wonderful. When I hear this I don't feel so alone. Thank you!
A few moments of peace. Thank you.
This might still be one of my favorites in the series...
enchantingly as always
Inimitable Beauty of Creation from Mr Fripp
Sublime.
Have to love how this unfolds at the end, like the coming of daylight...
Oh wow, I'm really really really impressed. I knew this was going to be good, I'm a huge Fripp fan, I love all the stuff he puts out. But man, I wasn't expecting something THAT gorgeous, damn. I'm really shivering. That's amazing.
Settling soothing surprising. Thx Robert Fripp. Cooooool
Beautiful, thank you
Very pastoral. I had to follow this with Evening Star
Thank you fof this. It is one of the most beautiful soundscapes I have heard.
So beautiful and comforting ❣️💕
A true spirit and learning through music-a drone, a melodic invention reminds us of hidden parts of ourselves.
There's something Shine on you crazy diamond-ish about this. Very nice.
It's reminiscent of the ambient work of Brian Eno, who Fripp has worked with.
que bonito este tema dedicado a barcelona
Just when I start again studying music theory, scales and arpeggios, I listen to this a ponder what kind of music I really want to create.
Wow! Floating like Evening Star!
More inspiration... Thank you Mr. Fripp.
Thank you.
a man, a guitar, two machines. Mabuhay Gardens.
Cosmic.
More orchestral than the last one. Both perfect when contrasting the two! Deepest thanks and respect. P.S. Loved the Robert and Toyah Heros video! Thank you for breaking out the dusty old black Gibson Custom from one of many golden Fripp eras! Never thought I would have the opportunity to see you play it again. A true delight!
Make that "Heroes" please.
Love your moments of madness. Brilliant
the best way to starting my day
Frippertronics is intelligence in sound processing whose nature is analog. I started to like it when I listened to it all over and over. and for this one. I was amazed because inside silence. there is a beautiful notation and dynamics that sound cool.
Thank you, very much. Keep delivering please. Hi Marvin, where are you?
Cheers bob!
My favorite so far :)
Thank you for this!
Love it....thanks FRIPP
beautiful and sad. thank you.
I was listening this wonderful piece: Gentle Scape (Barcelona, 24.07.09) I keep in my mind every note you played this wonderful day...
Whath can I say? I think...simply: Thank you very much!

Lovely piece - reminiscent of Rainbow Dome Music by Steve Hillage. Best wishes from an ambient guitarist at home in England.

Sublime.

Thank you...this will help a lot.
The Vicar gives his sermon, and there is peace in the world.
I only just discovered this 'series'. Hoping that somewhere there is a 'playlist' (or an album planned?) so that I can just leave it doing what it does so beautifully. Thank you,.
Ace work
Wow, superb!
A+
FRIPP SAID: "Quiet Moments 2 is a sonic meditation on dying, loss and accepting, disguised as looping; so it is better equipped and able to go out and present itself in public; so more likely to escape the expectation and quality of attention that would otherwise undermine the reflection/event were it formally billed as Meditation On Loss, Grieving & An Acceptance Of Suffering As Both Necessary & Inevitable In The Human Condition.
Boy. That’s a show I’d avoid.".
Nice. I prefer the moments when the "guitarisms" are less prominent, but I shall defend to the death Robert's right to play whatever he feels.
That's the 6 string amendment👍

I hear Starless in this, especially at 5:41. Is it just me?

Reminds me of Jade Warrior
Pandemic day 58 S.E.Pennsylvania... May 9, 2020 - my grandfather's 120th birthday. In 1918, he was 18. During that horid influenza. 250,000 died in Philadelphia, just days after a WW 1 liberty bonds March was held. They ran out of places to bury the dead.
When we look back on this, how will History tell it?
Were we civil? Did we care about our fellow men and women?
Thanks Mr Fripp.

Этот осенний лэндскейп впечатляет больше, чем данный саундскейп.)
Damage !!!
:)
Just upload the video, don't let us wait like this
Don't question our one and true god, Fripp.
And just play all the notes at the same time. Let's get it over with. I have a 6 pack of beer I'm going to pour all at once into my mouth using a funnel, so i don't have time for this.
I really wanted to like this and I listened all the way through, but I'm sorry, I found it boring. Maybe I'm not in the right mood. Or maybe this is utility music, made for meditation rather than to be listened to. Anyway, I wanted to enjoy it the same way other commenters seemed to, but I didn't. I've got a blind spot, I guess.
