When eren says "who am I?" The reason why Armin asks him why he said "who am I" is because he used formal japanese word to refer to himself instead of referring to himself informally that he always does.. the reason is bcuz he was seeing grisha's memories so he thought of himself as grisha and used the pronoun Grisha uses which is "watashi" instead of "ore"
I'm pretty sure the picture we see of the titans in the walls looking more human and with clothes (other depictions of the titans are portrayed similarly in this episode) is meant to show how Eldian empire romanticize the titans when in reality they look way more inhuman and horrifying. Besides, we saw in season 1 when a piece of the wall broke down due to Annie climbing on it that the titans inside the walls are skinless and look similar to the colossal titan in appearance .
Yeah, a lot of imagery like that is done on purpose, to say that you shouldn't take every info at face value, the narrator might be lying. They'll do it again in S4. 😉

Also one of the Titans in the big room that our gang had to kill so that they could refuel. I think it's the one that Sasha failed to kill and Mikasa took care of, thus saving Sasha.
The Eldians did not necesssarily flee to the island. They retreated there because the King did not want to participate in balancing the world anymore (based on this episode). On the island, they establish the Walled City with the warning: Don't mess with us, or the millions of titans in the walls will destroy you. Basically establishing a hermit city. And then if you recall, the king wiped the memories of all the inhabitants of the walled city.

This episode required multiple viewings to understand everything. They really came out and absolute info dumped so much. So many questions were answered and so many new questions formed
This has been the most important episode so far, because of all the information contained in those 20 minutes, it is mandatory that we all rewatch it at least two times to connect all the dots and make sure we understand everything. Thank you for adding the discussion in the end for this one! These Season 3 reactions are getting better and better after every upload, can't wait for the next one!!
I'm so glad you guys decided to instantly rewatch and then give us your informed discussion! Normally I don't watch much of reactors' discussions honestly, but I made sure to watch every minute of that treasure trove!
That's the crazy thing about Attack on Titan. You see how cruelly the Marleyans are treating the Eldians, keeping the ones among them in internment zones, and imprisoning all the others on our island, Paradise Island. On the other hand, the Eldians who are resisting them want power so that they can kill all the Marleyans!
Overwhelming 😁 The story of Grisha isn't over yet, but my goodness is it a tragic one. He was a man of mistakes in a cruel world that punished him for those mistakes. Sadly we just witnessed the death of Eren here. Hatred is such a consuming force.
I am the one of guys who's watching this video from Japan. Your reactions are awesome. Actually, this is the debut comic from Writer of Attack on titan. He is insane.

For me this is one of the best things about Attack on Titan's reactions, watching people discuss, figure stuff out and come with their theories together after watching an episode like this.
Nothing can prepare you for the trauma of 'That Day.'
Shorty was like I’m not missing nothing I’m gone bring out the glasses 😂
omg I didn't realise how much they info dump in this episode lol
You know it was a serious brainstorm session when haylo comes back with the reading glasses on her head LOL
Overwhelming 😁
The story of Grisha isn't over yet, but my goodness is it a tragic one. He was a man of mistakes in a cruel world that punished him for those mistakes.
Sadly we just witnessed the death of Eren here. Hatred is such a consuming force.
AOT fans: We demand answers! 😤
Hajime Isayama: Ok then. Here you go.
AOT fans: 😳
I am the one of guys who's watching this video from Japan. Your reactions are awesome. Actually, this is the debut comic from Writer of Attack on titan. He is insane.
When the 'to be continued' screen awakens your inner pterodactyl :D
Loving your Attack on Titan journey! Can't wait to see what you make of the S3 ending and S4!
The greatest piece of fiction ever written
maybe you would be right if the whole "we create an enemy through propaganda and stuff them into internment camps like pigs and just use the strong ones for our agenda" would actually be fiction, but.. it sadly isnt.
I like how we all agree this is the episode, you HAVE to rewatch 😅
10:11 Nice catch
11:24 Hey he said that exact same thing in the 1st EP when he woke up
12:45 One of the titans from EP 5
You guys watching the episode and taking notes to make sure you understood before moving on made me happy I subscribed to you guys! Keep up the good work 👏
Listening to you guys break everything down and discuss your thought whether they are right or wrong makes me realize a lot of stuff I never thought about before.
You reach the basement and you open the books and that book has a lot of information.. hahaha.
You guys are amazing. It's amazing that you understand this much. I watched the all season three times and finally understood it completely.😮
‼️🎀it’s like a self fulfilling prophecy: Marley is worried about the Eldians being violent but they’re like…oppressing them and more 😭
the way hayle say mongkey every she's see zeke 😂
i wont spoil anything 😂
I've been waiting for an in-depth discussion between you two; I'm so glad you did this. You ladies are the best!! ❤
Insta rewatch is crazyy lmaoo 😅😅
Wow. I never expect the reactors may come to this details. Its so good how you two connect the dot from different angle and view
@16:00 "our brain is fried..."
Hahahahaha, see? I've been waiting this exact sentence to be said!! Our brain is not capable to process all the information in one watch, hahaha. But, really you guys are amazing, you catched so many mind blowing thing and plot in this episode! 😍
That day is just a masterpiece of reveals.
binge watched yalls AOT reactions to get caught up to new uploads for it from yall. yall are so smart!!!!!!!!!!! love that yall are making an effort to try to understand as best you can
“Zeke looks hollow because grisha valued him as a pawn” sheesh insight is nuts on these two
🤯🤯🤯 Today my mind is blown -- not by this episode for once, but by how much you two were able to understand and infer from the episode!!! It's far and away more than I've seen any other reactor figure out. Most of them don't even realize that they've seen 8 of the 9 Titans, or that the Attack and Founding Titans are the two that Marley doesn't control. Just amazing work from you two. The only thing that seemed to trip you up were the old-timey illustrations of the historical Titans 😅 You probably realize by now that you shouldn't read too much into them. Anyway I'm having so much fun rewatching with you. Keep up the good work!
This has been such a treat to experience this show again with ya'll. Look forward to every episode 🫶🏼
I LOVEEE your reactions y’all are so emotionally intelligent and perceptive!
I love how you analyse everything and how you drop your reactions like every 2 days
I absolutely love the fact you guys take notes. I wish my D&D players were so attentive 😆
You guys are the smartest reactors you pick up on stuff most reactors and even I missed on first go around, kudos!
Dina Fritz as the Titan that eats Eren's mom is crazy. If you think back, there was _one_ other moment we saw her Titan, and it was at a pretty crucial time :P
They completely forgot that lol
I love that you guys actually take the time to construct your thoughts
it's so fun to watch their reactions, reminds me when watching this first time lol
“I can’t write this fast”
AoT 3x20 in a nutshell 🤣😂
Loved the discussion and theory crafting after the reaction. 👍 I really like it when reactos discuss or review an episode after watching it.
"WAIT THEY'RE BROTHERS?! WAIT THAT'S HIS UNCLE?!"
Absolutely love it lol
The episode where they introduce the last intelligent Titan (Titan Shifter) is lowkey one of my favourite.... Pure Goosebumps guaranteed
I am impressed with you guys to know that much information.
This changes everything, those who were his "enemies" in the first season turned out to be his fellow patriots
Nice long one. Time to get my coffee, have a little wake and bake, and watch a really fuun reaction where two girls are probably gonna cry.
they are so big brain, connecting all the dots 👏
I also rewatched the reaction😂
Man, this reaction was a ride lol. I'm very impressed how much you two are catching.
I love that you rewatched it. Also I find it very funny that your reaction videos are usually followed by pretty short discussions but with AOT they've been getting longer and longer. They're forcing you to change the format, it's that kind of show, you can't not theorize.
iam so hyped to hear your discussion for the finals of the shows...so far, u both are amazing in discussion
fyi: when eren wake up he said "who am I" he use "Watashi" it's formal form of "I" but eren usually use "Ore" the more casual and masculine form
I remember being floored by this episode too - but it made so much sense
this is why i subscribe to you guys. your theories and breakdowns. because it shows that every episode has something on it to pick up. you truly become an anime fan now .
The jumpcut to Haylo's facepalm near the end is something I feel happens a lot off camera as well.
I remember having to pause and rewind on this episode so many times 😂
I remember watching this episode with my friend when it first came out. We talked about it for hours just trying to clarify all the new information they dropped on us. 😂
I forgot how much info was dumped in this episode! You girls are awesome in catching the little details AND then rewatching to make sure you could kind of understand what was going on! Still much to come!
thank you for watching this like its supposed to and sharing with us all your thoughts, from a hardcore fan of AOT it makes me so happy to see reactors actualy submerging themselves in what tthey see, thats why I'm here, you gals are awesome
I really liked the fact that you rewatched the episode to write every details, this show is even better when you pay attention and understand the story to the max that you can, great reaction 👍
I always get goosebumps during the scene where the identity of the Titan that ate Eren's mom is revealed.
i feel the stress you guys are dealing with even after watching the show over a million times now
