The Flying Kipper Theme - 'Good Ending' (Series 1)

- This was an idea that came to mind after doing 'Henry's Triumph', the Kipper Theme if Henry never crashed. So I took inspiration from the S3-4 theme like 'Triumph' and made it conclude on a better note (no pun intended) than the intense crash section in the original. I thought I'd extend it a little too, reminds me of the old Flying Kipper loop from the PC games.

Hey everyone.
Just a quick message. While I know a lot of you enjoy the recreations of O'Donnell and Campbell's legendary work for TTTE. I'd also really appreciate if you'd take a look at music I've written too. I'm looking to experiment and expand as a composer to test my range and ideas, the Thomas stuff is nostalgic and everything but the original works is what I really enjoy to work with. Still on the 80s wave at the moment as there are some sounds I still want to tackle. Recently was Scarlett Avenue, a stereotypical 80's love song, slow jam complete with sax, guitars and warm rhodes chord progressions. I'd appreciate if you guys checked this one out! Thank you.

Why has no one replied yet? Also GREAT JOB!
Hopefully you can find success
I may be American, but I don't care, pointing out the music for The Flying Kipper, well it's that happy ending at 2:23 I'm referring to, I don't know how to explain, but somehow, it just made me cry with oozing tears in a very happy kind of way. 😭😂
V. ,v&,?4@7\7□¡
this video is the best I was always watching you did an amazing job on this video I can't think of any better music video than this 😊😊😊
The best ending: this theme only plays when Henry successfully pulls the Flying Kipper after his rebuild
Which is never seen. Every episode with The Flying Kipper, something goes wrong lol.
"The light grew better. The signal lights glowed green as they passed. They made it to the mainland in good time, and were even early when they arrived in manchester"
After years of the endless groundhog-day type loop of Henry always crashing into the flying kipper, this time he finally breaks free from it as the points never got frozen, and he sailed by that infamous goods train and made it to his destination
It wasn't a time loop, the points were just continually frozen from the train before. (Spancer)
This is truly one of the best pieces Mike and Junior ever did for the show, takes Henry's already excellent theme, retweaks it to fit the flying Kipper and fits the wonderful scenery of Henry travelling the snowy foggy weather. and the ending of it marking his glorious return that is still one of the series and season one's best moment.
That ending cue gave me, “Peter Griffin crying and clapping at the end of a chick flick,” vibe. Man, Ty, you’ve been pumping out some bangers, lately. It’s been quite refreshing, thank you so much for what you do.
"i'm very easily influenced by music"
Me too.
Same
The Flying Kipper theme was always my dad's favourite theme from Thomas.
Likewise!
He's a man of culture I see. 👍
He's got good taste.
He really knows music, I think
yeah
I could just imagine Henry surging down the right track when that middle section hit
Imagine an alternate timeline where Henry didn’t crash into that train. He successfully delivers the Kipper, but never gets rebuilt. He’d likely end up sold and perhaps scrapped by whoever buys him.
@@rodimussupreme2329 Perhaps his rebuild comes way later
@@rodimussupreme2329 Topham already had plans on sending Henry to Crewe before he crashed. He just decided to send him after he crashed because it wouldn’t make sense for him to be sent to the works and be repaired with the same problems he already had. So crash or no crash, Henry would’ve gotten rebuilt either way.
Beautiful, simply beautiful. An alternate timeline where the fireman never spills his cocoa.
yeah screw henry he spilled that guys cocoa
@@CobaltBlue07 just no.
Nor when we get the terrifying crash that if it was a passenger train, thousands would be dead.
ITS DAMN COCOA@@CobaltBlue07
In the TVS adaptation of The Flying Kipper, the guard was in the van at the time of Henry’s crash
Can't listen to this without hearing Ringo Star in my head saying "Clouds of smoke and steam poured from his funnel into the cold night air" 🙂
"And the fire's light shown brightly. 'Hurry-hurry-hurry!' panted Henry."
"The last door banged, the guard showed his green lamp, The Flying Kipper was ready to go!"
Henry but the signal was not forced down by snow, and Henry successfully makes it to Manchester.
Edit: jesus how did this comment get over 200 likes
They fixed the frozen points then Henry procedded to Manchester
And then the fat controller keep buying special coal
@@the-frozen-van Henry might have a Overhaul in this AU
@@the-frozen-van I like to imagine that if Henry successfully made it, he would've still got upgraded either way
"Congratulations Henry! You've successfully proven your worth. As a reward, I'm sending you to Crewe to have your firebox upgraded so you won't need special coal anymore!"
@@chrisdeeyt4392 yeah, but i will take time
I could imagine this playing over Henry's first trip with the Flying Kipper after his rebuild.
The initial accident likely became an immensely traumatic event for Henry, and after returning from Crewe he was hesitant to ever pull the train again. However, through facing his fears head on, he was able to overcome it all and prove he was just as useful of an engine as before.
Finally! A proper extended version of The Flying Kipper theme. We don't have to use extended loops of that glitchy theme from Building the New Line!
Thank you!
I'd been hoping for something like this. The original sounded great, don't get me wrong, but I felt it needed a sort of "official" version for the very scenario that this one brings to mind, i.e. Henry completing his journey right on time without any trouble at all. Thanks for providing this, S.A.. 😀👍
Most interesting approach to this, it works well!
The driver was happy he got to finish his coco in peace 😊
No really the recent takes you done on these classic themes really show how strong a composer your becoming I’ve followed you for years and seen you grow in Thomas themes and other work, thank you for your time and effort!
It was the fireman who got pleased to finish his cocoa, not the driver.
It was good coco
So cool that you made a more cheerful theme of the Flying Kipper; I'd say it's one of the best compositions of the show, so not having to always end it on an ominous note is a nice change of pace. REALLY love that ending, fantastic piece!
Now that's a much happier tune to The Flying Kipper theme! Wonderful work, as always! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
A lovely conclusion to this wonderful piece. Your ability to "read between the lines" and provide complete themes based on what Mike and Junior wrote is top tier!
1:21 Henry passes the goods train he would have crashed into.
That’s kinda funny
Just like in The Henry Movie by Mr. Ryan.
"Go on Henry!" James called.
It is actually creepy to imagine Henry passing the goods train like "Oh, a train there" knowing the fact that there is a version where it crashes it.
@@danielsellers8707 More like maybe Eagler (red Engine) or maybe 87546 or 98462.
But if it was James: "Hurry up Henry, I'm late for my warm shed!"
"The last door banged, the guard showed his green lamp, the Flying Kipper was ready to go!"
The Flying Kipper was already a masterful piece of art and you’ve just dialled it up to 11! Amazing!
This was fantastic. I could just imagine Henry pulling the Flying Kipper and, this time, the train makes it to the end of the line. Well done once again 😀👍.
Aw this is absolutely beautiful I’ve always wondered what the flying kipper no crash accident be like, and soon my question was answered this has got to be your best recreation yet not to brag, this just takes the cake!
When Henry collected all the 7 Chaos Coal-Lumps.
All really silly jokes aside, I love the concept of a "Good End" variant.
I bet that with the 7 Chaos Coal Lumps, he would become "Super Henry"! But when the Chaos Coal Lumps became Super Coal Lumps, he would become "Hyper Henry"!
@@77PacerStudios Only when the Chaos Coal Lumps are charged by the Master Coal Lump.
I tried to find a joke about welsh coal, I failed
@@thesealsharkproductions9780 Apparently Diesel 10 and the other diesels must've stolen those jokes, lol!
Hey, I heard if you go around the yard 1945 times, you'll unlock gordon the big engine
My favourite theme, with a good ending, on my birthday!!! Just fantastic! Thank you so much SA!
Interesting coincidence. Happy Birthday!
that's a very nice pfp you have of one of the super Rs btw
Henry arrived at the Big Station with the Kipper at 6 o'clock sharp.
The Fat Controller was very pleased to see him so soon. "Well done, Henry! That special coal has done you wonders, and you have proven yourself worthy of staying on my busy railway!", he paused considerably, "However, I sadly cannot continue to buy your special coal for the long term. But, I have good news. The workmen at Crewe can build you a new shape with a larger firebox, so you can use regular coal like the other engines, and be just as useful as you are now!"
"Peep peep! Oh, thank you, sir!", cheered Henry.
Would you like me to adapt this into a remake of the original story?
Really love how beautiful that ending sounds, nice job!
"why don't you just give up?"
BECAUSE HE NEVER DID🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cringe.
POV: The points weren’t frozen and the Signalman cleaned off the signal and you made it to Manchester
I never thought I’d see the day. I’ve been wanting a good ending version of this theme for so long! I’ve always loved the heavier synths for the theme and I’m so glad someone finally made it happen. Thank you!
every time you hear it, you can't help but hear henry's whistle within the instruments
"They couldn't know the switches from the main line to a siding were frozen, and a home signal should have been set a danger, but snow had forced it down."
"A freight train was waited in a siding to let the Flying Kipper past."
"A guard saw Henry at great speed from the distance, He then rushed into the nearest switch and changed the line just in time."
Wonderful job on this one Ty, you knocked it out of the park. With Henry probably being my favorite character any theme of his is bound to vibe with me but damn this almost made me shed a tear, great work dude 👍
On snowy days when I'm going home from school on the bus this always plays in my head for some reason.
When the points don't jam and you arrive right on time to see a beautiful winter sunrise in Manchester...
Ah yes, a wonderful T&F theme made on an even better note without some sort of tragic conclusion: ain't it sweet? I love how you concluded the Kipper Theme too! A Definite [and Well-Deserved] Like from me; and this is definitely going in my Favorites too! :)
This is absolutely wonderful imagine if Henry never crashed in the Flying Kipper
Simply amazing! Henry was always my favorite as was his music...until the crash. Thank you so so much for this.
That actually sounds really great! Would DEFINITELY make for an episode in which Henry pulled the Flying Kipper again, but this time the ice and snow was much less than it was before, therefore Henry would've made it without crashing.
Imagine what it be like if Henry never crashed, then he would had to be careful on the mainline pulling the flying kipper and never get into an accident, that’s awesome btw, well done!
I totally asked for this in a comment once. Even if it was on a whim, so cool you did this!!!!
I've been waiting for a version like this for ages! Thank you S.A!!!
This song plays in my head whenever I finish something big, and am heading home, with nothing hanging over my shoulders
Thanks for extending this as well! That ending was like a cherry on top of this delicious shake of a tune!
this is by far the best and beautiful version of the flying kipper ever. Well done.
The Flying Kipper theme has to be one of my favourite themes from season 1. It’s so rhythmic and melodic. A great piece by Mike ‘O’ Donnell and Junior Campbell (and a great happy ending interpretation by you!) Fantastic job again!
This song would always play in my head as a kid playing with the toy trains.
Thanks for the nostalgia!
This is the most beautiful piece of alternate music you have ever composed. Bravo. :)
I love how the music subverts my expectations near the end! That's so fun!
Oh my goodness, this is by far one of the best themes that you ever created. Good cheers to you, man!
I can imagine Henry taking a special train from Sodor to Crewe to this theme, stopping at Carnforth where a mainland Black 5 is coupled up for a double headed main line express run down the West Coast Main Line to Crewe for a special event at the Railway Museum there!
I love this song, it’s just so nostalgic! Great job, as usual.
Feels like henrry made it to the docks keep the work coming best to all
Henry has finally done it, without confusion or delay.
Henry's Flying Kipper theme was possibly the greatest piece of music to feature in any Thomas episode. The piece is enough to make a grown adult misty-eyed as it soberingly and stunningly conjures the image of a steam express on a cold, early morning. From the anticipation of the departure, the guard showing his green lamp, and then getting underway and rushing along the line, fire light glowing and green signals shining.
Brought a tear to my eye. I felt like a kid again listening to this. ^_^
Call me crazy, but this seems to make an excellent Christmas tune!
Crayzee
Henry’s themes are just so happy, probably one of my favourite Thomas themes.
This is beautiful man good job
There’s slight variations of the pitch tone half way through a note and oh god it takes me back to when the VHS tapes would struggle when playing the episodes ❤ Such nostalgia
I always love hearing the bit at 0:43 - 0:56. The new ending you've created for this feels like it's from an alternate universe where Henry doesn't crash.
Wonderful this truly is the best variant of Henry's theme
Now this is a Jammer! Love Your Work Man!
I first heard this one on SoundCloud. Excellent take. Regards, Samuel Farris.
Wow. Henry's Theme and all variations of it (except the Sad Theme) are so beautiful and inspiring.
In this timeline, Henry stayed a strange hybrid engine who exclusively needed Welsh coal all the way to the present day. He was expensive, but always proved his worth in the end.
or they rebuilt his firebox only
This theme is definitely a blast from the past 🥹 It will forever be a special part of our childhood.
My favorite theme when I watched the show on VHS. Great rendition for a successful Flying Kipper run.
This is a beautiful theme, especially the triumphant bit at the end! I can just imagine the alternate timeline where the points to the siding weren't frozen over - Henry passes by the goods train in the siding with no issue, and then pulls triumphantly into Vicarstown, ahead of schedule and with his heavy train completely intact. A performance more than worthy of a chance to pull the Express, though would he have gotten his rebuild in this timeline? Who knows.
He certainly would've been rebuilt anyway, as his current design with the small firebox could only provide enough steam for Henry when it's burning Welch coal. As mentioned by Sir Topham Hat in "Special Coal", the Welch coal was expensive, so he probably couldn't afford to have a supply of Welch coal for Henry that would last him for a year.
December 23rd, 1949. Exactly 1 year after Henry had his infamous crash. He remembered it well. Now, with a new boiler, wheels, firebox, cab, and whistle, he was ready to take on the challenge once more. “The good people of Manchester must have their fish before Christmas”, said Henry to himself. “Yes, indeed, they should”, said his fireman. “Quite right”, agreed his engineer. The last door banged and the conductor waved his green lamp. The Flying Kipper was ready to go! The deep tone of Henry’s new whistle, along with the high-pitched tone of his original whistle pierced the night. The boxcars knew they should behave, and Henry set off without any wheelslip. Quite soon, they were rolling along smoothly. Henry’s engineer checked the speedometer. “65 miles per hour! Keep going, old boy! You can do it!” “I will!” puffed Henry. They sped through Edward’s station and charged up Gordon’s Hill. The fireman shoveled as hard as he could, trying to keep the fire mass stable. They reached the top, went down the slight gradient after it, and clattered through Maron. They ran through the Ballahoo Tunnels, where Henry had been shut up in the year he first arrived on the island. Snow began to fall, and they sped over the Vicarstown bridge. They ran past Barrow, and charged on. In Manchester, the yard workers were minding their own business, when they heard the cry of Henry’s whistles not too far away. “Is that the Kipper?” asked one of the workers, who had not been there since the crash last year. “Indeed, it is!” shouted another worker. The Kipper arrived with five minutes to spare! “Well done, old boy!” shouted his engineer, patting him on the regulator. Steam rushed to Henry’s smokebox. He had never felt so good!
We runnin into james train with this one💯🔥🗣️
What has it been 30 years and finally my boy Henry finally completes The Kipper without a accident
Beautiful!
I love how the end uses the ending from Season 3 to finish the song off. Smart idea!
This is why Henry is one of my favorite characters,
He literally has the best theme
Keep up the good work
This is what happens that Henry didn’t crash, it was all a dream.
This is like if Duck didn't crash into the fish vans due to the tail lamp falling off or Henry didn't take the coastal track and fell in the water
I used to watch this show when i was young and sick in my old dvd player
good ending: Henry gets the flying kipper to the destination, and the guards in the break van never spilled hot-coca
One of the best episodes and theme
Nicely done man!! I love it
My favourite theme. ❤️🥰
This made me smile so much.
Henry raced through the cold morning air as he rolled across the drawbridge and when he reached the depot he was greeted by the whistles of the dock yard shunters as the workmen clattered and hustled taking the fish to other trains as the sun rose upon the kipper and its engine big green henry
Best Thomas Theme Ever.
Listening to this while on a train hits different
“It’s alright Henry it’s not your fault ice and snow caused the accident”
Thank you so much. I’m glad Henry’s Flying Kipper didn’t crash
When you pull the flying kipper and it’s summer
loved this makes me imagine driving Clan Line along the line with the Pullmans on the Golden Arrow
Poor Henry... can Sir Topham Hat PLEASE stop assigning him this task every time.
Henry kept his shape wow
HENRY FINALLY DELIVERED THE KIPPER LETS GO!!
An alternative universe where the crash never happens and Henry is still in his old shape because he never got rebuilt.
I call this a master piece
Excellent job! 👍
Finally, the version where Henry doesn’t get terrible back injuries and he has to keep using special coal
or he gets rebuilt instead of the express
Remember folks, this is just the theme for a frickin fish train
And yet its one of the franchise’s best themes there is
Perfect BGM for episode where Henry came back as Black 5 after accident and successfully completing second Flying Kipper in S1 aesthetics.
