This actually sounds like something you would have heard a big band playing in the 30s and 40s! I loved the anticipation I felt waiting for the familiar tune to come in.
I love it! The early section is a perfect blend of Busse Bounce and the S1 James intruments. Wish we'd heard more of this theme (or variants) in the series proper. Just the jazzy theme James deserves :D Thank you again for this!
James' theme is easily one of the best themes ever composed by Mike O' Donnell & Junior Campbell. This extended version with "Busse Bounce" is even better!
Look I said it a lot but I can't state how damn good your music mixing skills are. Another song for my daily rail playlist, such a absolute banger from start to finish and middle was excellently in style of the original
I can't tell what is most amazing to me, but the extension just sounds so natural! I absolutely love it! Can't believe I came to this trying to find the TTTE track TomSka used in one of his vids. Definitely staying for the jams.
Ty you've done it again! I believe we have the definitive version of James' theme here!!! I know I say this almost every time, but this is one of your best. Keep it up! 👍
I did not know this had an extended version!!! OH MY GOSH I WAS JUST JAMMING OUT SO HARD!!! I came looking for the shorter version and boy was I *pleasantly surprised!!* Yeah, I'm gonna be playing this on repeat for the next few days!!🤣🤣

Have you ever considered “director’s cut” versions of the themes, where you could arrange Mike’s CD release versions of the songs for the Jupiter/Proteus?
That’s what some of the ‘Extended’ mixes are meant to be to a degree like when I did Bill and Ben’s with ‘Silver Lining’. But maybe one day, all I know after this month I need a break.
What no more Christmas themes. In all seriousness though this is very catchy and I love how there's a huge extended bit before we hear the actual theme. Keep up the good work Ty.
1:52 (US version - George Carlin) At the end of the line, James left his coaches and got ready for his next train. It was a slow freight, having to stop at every station to pick up and set down cars. James HATED slow freight trains. "Dirty cars from dirty sidings. YEEEECCHHHH!!!" (UK version - Ringo Starr) At the end of the line, James left his coaches and got ready for his next train. It was a slow goods, having to stop at every station to pick up and set down trucks. James HATED slow goods trains. "Dirty trucks from dirty sidings. (Long pause) Blech!"
Lyrics: There’s not a quite like James Splendid Red James James pulls the coaches He stop by and enjoy this Friendly also like James James is splendid too He’s pulls this train And strong good There’s not a quite like James.
I thought my whole life was a lie and that I'd remembered James' theme completely wrong. I had to double-check that this wasn't in the actual show. Btw this is a bop!♥
This is abousolutly perfect! It gives such a Season 1 feeling to it and doesn't stray far from the orginal score. It really sounds like a piece any jazz or brass group would play at a gig!!!!!
I can imagine an extended montage sequence of James pulling the express in _James and the Express_ after Gordon gets turned round on the loop when this song plays.
Hmmm. This feels more like the two songs spliced than an extension or a blend, and "Busse Bounce" (or what I presune to be said song) seems to dominate. Also, I'd never heard the idea that it's based on "Busse Bounce" til looking at the description. The basis _I've_ seen named is "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", and I personally lean more towards that. Especially taking "James the Really Splendid Engine" into account.
This sounds like it the instrumental to a lyrical song to me. If someone were to put lyrics to this, I could perfectly imagine it playing in a film set in the early 20th century.
If you match the opening lyrics of Ricky Nelson’s “Be-bop Baby” with the beginning descending sequence of James’ theme, they align seamlessly together. Perhaps consider mixing the two if you happen to have time.
holy hell, when I saw this I thought it was just james' theme but the second I was about to leave, all of those new sounds just came gushing out, great score SA!

Maybe the same inspiration to Mardi Gras theme from Monkey Island 2 (the synths gives me that vibe too)
Postdata: Just checked the original and it's an actual jazz theme from the 30s or 40s. I haven't the hear but it sounds like a very old recording.
Well James’ theme is partially based on the Busse Bounce made by Henry Busse sometime in the 40s so I guess it does make sense
because it is
I was waiting for the moment it came in.
Love these extended bits you've added! Really gives a feeling of completion to it 👏
Are going to make a music about this one
I like this alot. Much better than the PC game extended version of James’ theme!
Yeah a lot
Where's a link to that? I might have heard it in a bachman testing video years ago
Well I like that version as well as this one
The PC game version is still good in my eyes but it's nice to see an extended version without said version all the same. :)
Shmooggers pc game
I shall definitely add this to my roadtrip playlist.
this is on my "daily drive to school" playlist
This is on my general “every video I have saved” playlist
This is honestly gonna be my “show off” theme
“Dirty trucks from dirty sidings!”
YECK!!!!!
Super job on this!

I heard Henry Busse's music before I had even heard James' Theme, and I always thought they sounded similar in a way
Awesome job well done!
Lyrics:

Splendid Red James
James pulls the coaches
He stop by and enjoy this
Friendly also like James
James is splendid too

RIP Britt Allcroft
Wish James Had A New York Accent Because New Yorkers Like Jazz And It Sure Sounds Like It!
Same if T&F had it's soundtrack made by Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman
I don’t know about New York- James was built in Yorkshire, England.
A York, just not new york
This is so catchy! Love it!
