- This is a side story from Solo Travel Japan. Trying Japanese restaurant chains in Singapore was actually a new experience for me as I usually eat at hawker centers or food courts when I travel to Singapore.

Hey Solo, I just wanted to tell you something. I am so thankful for your videos, and especially the fact that you uploaded today. We just got done dealing with huge storms and tornadoes and it's really bad around here. My nerves are shot and I need to try to relax so I can rest. This is the perfect thing to help me so I can try to sleep tonight. So I just wanted you to know that today this video is especially really important to me. And that souffle looks sooo good! 😃
Hey random person, stay safe and I hope you get better.
@@Iymarra Thank you, sincerely. There's no storms tonight and everyone is safe, so we're getting better. 🙂
We just had a storm a couple days ago in Tulsa@@RT-qd8yl
"The interior of the restaurant was nice" 🤣🤣
Tempura not being crispy is a crime!
Japanese food is a treat. I am disabled, and don't go out at all since my husband died. There was a handmade noodle place we loved in a food hall, but I can't get there anymore. I order for delivery once in a while, but it's not the same.
I hope you get to go again soon
LOL I was way too bothered by you gently pressing on the souffle with your spoon. 🤣🤣
Welcome to Singapore!❤
I think I eat japanese food at least once a week, if not in a restaurant or cafe, then I cook at home. I eat it often enough that I sometimes even forget that I'm eating food that originated in japan. I think the Japanese food culture has a pretty strong foothold here in singapore
We have either Japanese Curry or Gyoza at least once a week. We also make Chicken Rice and Okonomiyaki at least once a month, and eat sushi regularly when eating out. We also eat 2 minute noodles at least 2 or 3 times a week. I think we love Curry nearly as much as you do! :)
I'd like to eat Japanese food all the time, but unfortunately there's not a single restaurant in my town, only two or so sushi houses, so I can only eat it maybe a few times a year - I always enjoy it though, your cuisine is delicious! In Prague there's a very authentic Japanese restaurant, the owner married a Japanese and to my knowledge she sends her chefs to train in Japan. Prague and Kyoto are also sister cities and this restaurant holds Kyoto ramen days in celebration of this unity every year, they used to host the owner of a ramen restaurant from Kyoto, she would cook ramen and gyoza for the guests - and she enjoyed the colab so much she gave the restaurant her recipe when she grew too old to travel, which I find absolutely amazing, so that's one place I like to visit when I go to Prague, although it's a bit expensive, but worth the money.
Sg local here! Welcome! for me twice a week! most of the time i home cook Miso soup and seaweed and mushroom! along with Rice and Natto!
You shoved a fork right in the middle of the carbonara and started twirling. The Italian in me is screaming, LOL.
Hello Solo San! I eat Japanese food about once a month. I found a very authentic place near me and their food is delicious. I use to live close to a city that had great ramen and Japanese restaurants and I would eat Japanese food at least once a week. I love curry! Thank you for another great video.
We always have cup noodles and Ramen, I'll put egg and green onions in Ramen for my grandkids. They like curry I make them. I love miso soup and tempura. Sushi for my daughter and grandkids every couple months. It is expensive here and a special treat.🎉
I usually eat something Japanese around once or twice a week. Every now and then, I do a menu of all Japanese recipes. Last night we had hiyashi chuka for dinner. The Japanese foods I make are things like hambagu, Japanese curry, sushi, oyakodon, butter shoyu chicken, teriyaki fish, tamagoyaki, katsu, miso soup, Japanese style mapo tofu, soboro don, gyudon, ramen, yaki udon, onigiri…lots of stuff…
I totally blanked on the egg salad on top of the salad, and went, "Huh... slices of hard boiled egg... and salad... that's a very literal interpretation of egg salad..."
back when i lived in hk it was japanese food 3-5 times a week. loved it and miss it so much! now in the uk there isnt so much good japanese food anymore lol
Not often :( I live in a small town and we only have one Japanese restaurant here. However I was in or near Minato City at a market area about 2 weeks ago and ate the BEST Wagyu steak cubes ever. Unbelievable. Very good King Crab legs too.
At least once a week. Our local sushi shop also sells a good range of hot Japanese dishes or I make them at home. Japanese food is very popular here in Australia. 😁🇦🇺🇯🇵
Probably 1-2 times a week. I love making Japanese breakfast with salmon, rice, and miso soup especially. I also make bento lunches(meal prep) every week, but the food in those isn't always Japanese.
I just finished eating and You're making me hungry. The pork looked excellent and I'd go to Singapore just to have that souffle. I used to have Japanese food every week when I lived in New York City., but now I only get it occasionally., One of the highlights of my trip to Japan was eating at a sidewalk sushi bar. There were only three stools! One of these days I will be back.
Welcome to Singapore!!
Another awesome video.
Thank you! 😊😊
I love the Saizeriya menu. Is hamburger steak Japanese or Italian, I wonder? That souffle at the coffee place looked underdone. I hope the Japanese experience in Singapore lived up to expectations. I wish we had more Japanese restaurants around here.
My friend, this is absolutely amazing and incredibly tasty. I must make sure to add it to my list of things to try when I have the opportunity to visit Japan and truly embrace the joys of life.
All looked good Solo. Another nice relaxing trip. God Bless.
3-4 times a week since i taught myself how to make japanese food :) oyakodon, gyudon, and curry or hiashi beef are all really easy to make and keep well in the fridge
Hello solo! Thank you so much for your wonderful videos! I love seeing all the things you get to do, the wonderful places you visit, and the amazing food you eat! I love Japanese food and I love to cook, so I usually eat Japanese food 3 or 4 times a week. There's even curry in my fridge right now 😂. Thank you for what you do and keep up the hard work!
Hi Solo San. I eat Japanese food about once a week, but usually just premade sushi or onigiri 🍙 or some snacks, not a whole restaurant meal. Also I cook curry and rice at home with Japanese curry packages. I will be in Japan in 10 days and I’m very excited to eat EVERYTHING!
I blame you entirely for the fact that I have started making my own version of curry rice. Other than that, it's miso soup at least twice a week. 😂
Lol
Hi Solo, I eat Japanese food sometimes once or twice a week. I also like Korean food. I have never been to Japan but hope to one day. I really enjoy watching your videos. You are funny sometimes. I also know that you love your curry's. I always look forward to seeing a new video. I don't always get to watch them straight away so I save them to watch later.❤ ❤❤😊
I love how the Japanese show you what your food will look like before you order. And pictures in the menus too. Now I am hungry.
Welcome to Singapore!! Hope you enjoy the food here!
I eat Japanese food, mostly tempura and chicken teriyaki, about once a month. It's a treat. Love me some rice and sauce and fried food.
Wow you're in Singapore! Welcome! 🤗
I eat Japanese food at least once every two weeks. Usually ramen or sushi when I go out, & I make oyakudon or curry quite often. Nothing fancy curry-wise, I just use Golden medium spicy. Btw, if I were in Singapore, I'd go straight to the late Iron Chef Chen Kenichi's son's Sichuan restaurant. Not only was Chen Kenichi (RIP) one of my favorites, I heard Chen Kentaro's place is amazing!
Love the click at the beginning 🥰
Welcome to Singapore. Hope you enjoyed your time!
Hey Solo, I’m so glad I found you., I love that you show us how to eat these dishes, it encourages me to order many more things now. I will start with the grilled curry which looked amazing. Bye.
Great video once again, we eat Japanese food as often as we can but always have sake in the home! After experiencing Japanese chain restaurants in Japan, it's really interesting to see that the standard is just as good when in another country. It's not always the case that national chains travel well from what we've experienced here in Scotland... Looking at you Tim Hortons : )
I wish I could eat real Japanese food. Best I can do is a Chinese/Japanese restaurant. It is at least a good restaurant but is way more focused on the Chinese than Japanese aspect. So if I count that, about once a month to twice a month. Thank you for showing us real Japanese food!
Welcome to Singapore!..hope u enjoy the trip (:
welcome to Singapore Solo-san!
I'm eating Japanese food now LOL I'll order sushi set (salad, miso & 2 rolls) sometimes on payday. I learned how to make curry at home after watching your videos. I understand now why you like it so much 😀
As often as I can!!
Hi STJ ❤ I was so happy you came to Singapore but also a bit nervous ……😂
Hi STJ 🌸 I eat Japanese food about 2 times a month and I started cooking curry at home after watching your videos 🍛🥰
Hi, we are from Saint Petersburg, Russia, and we have "Tayaki" cafe here with authentic Japanese food. It's really nice, but we cannot eat there often. So I had to learn how to cook some Japanese food :))) Only simple :)))
I’m from Singapore and I take Japanese food almost every week. For Tempura, you could try Tenya at Parkway Parade Shopping Center (on the way to the airport). At Bugis+, I would go to Watami at 4th floor. Hope you have an opportunity to try these next time in Singapore.
That water feature at the airport - wow! I probably eat Japanese food about once a month or so. More often if you count cup noodles (curry noodles, please!).
How often I enjoy japanese food? Not any near to how often I'd like to! 😅
Japanese food is the best food. I visited Japan two times. Loved it.
Greetings from Germany!
🇩🇪🍻🇯🇵
Unfortunately , the only japanese restaurants here in geneva are mostly sushi bars . And as we don't have fresh fish , I don't eat sushi when there isn't sea nearby . But I frequently cook myself miso soup , udon , ramen. And I'd love to try real japanese curry, I heard there is a japanese grocery store in center geneva
Welcome to my humble country home!
japanese food are quite expensive in my country so i only eat it sometimes during payday😆 though i make myself some miso soup a few times a week cuz the white miso is quite cheap in our local grocery
Beautiful ❤
I would love to eat Japanese more often, tempura especially. But I have Celiac's disease and am no longer allowed to eat gluten. I have not found a restaurant that does gluten free tempura and it's something that I miss terribly.
Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you when you go to all these restaurants and beautiful locations!
Rarely eat Japanese food, or Chinese. Once or twice a year Thai. Too much sodium for me, although I love the food.
I don't get to eat Japanese food much because there are not too many authentic Japanese restaurants here in Indianapolis.
I never eat Japanese food because there is none available where I live but if there was I would eat it a lot! Nice video…. Thank you 😊
Hope you enjoyed your stay in Singapore, STJ!
I probably eat Japanese food once or twice a week. It's readily available here. Although, I don't have the wallet for restaurant chains, so I ended up going for fast food-style outlets or stores bentos.
I live in Japan so.. I eat Japanese food basically every day, haha.. Those prices were kind of shocking for food that only looked まあまあ... thanks for the video!
nice to have your reviews about Japanese restaurants here in Singapore! i hope u enjoyed your visit
did u manage to try indian curry while u were here?
anyway... to answer your question.... for me ... its maybe once every 2 weeks maybe. i am fortunate to be spoilt for choice because there are many cuisines here. and sometimes, the Japanese food option for me was the easiest. (we have a sushi place called Kuriya here) and i just pick up some inari sushi and maybe a few boat ones to go ... as for sitting at a proper Japanese restaurant..... maybe once a month ........
anyway, hope u enjoyed your stay again and found it fun. 😊
favourite sushi restaurant here is Sushi Tei and another one called Sun with Moon.... u should try those next time u r here and tell me what you think 😶
I worked around the area where you tried most of the Japanese chains. 😄 I ate Japanese food about 3-4 times a week for lunch since there's just so many Japanese restaurants at Suntec / Marina Square. By the way, there's Tempura Makino in Suntec too. Oh, and not sure if you are aware but there's a Butahage (butadon restaurant from Hokkaido) at Suntec - same tower as Sushiro and Hoshino Coffee - although their signature dish is butadon, I very much prefer their tempura with hot udon! Maybe next time when you are here in Singapore again, you can give it a try :)
We have second-rate prepackaged sushi about once a month. There's no place around here with salted squid guts.
Welcome to Singapore. Next time try iberico pork dishes at Gochi-so Shokudo in Changi airport jewel.
Crazy. There are so many local delicacies (Chinese, Malay, Indian) in Singapore and you try Japanese food instead 😮
That seems to be the point of this channel though, if you look at his videos. That doesn't mean he didn't eat other food, only that he didn't make content out of it.
Thank you for your nice videos! May I ask what camera do you use?
Yaaaaaay
Never had Japanese food waiting for someone to fly my wife and i there to try it !!! Love the videos thank you 👋🏻👋🏻
Welcome to Singapore 🇸🇬
This branch at Bugis+ has been closed. I have been going to the one at 100AM located at Tanjong Pagar.
Only thing I eat that's Japanese is Cup Noodles. Lol We don't have a lot Japanese choices where I live.
I have cup noodles at least twice a week. An very occasionally like 4 times a year, I treat myself to sushi.
I rarely have chance to get Japanese food bcs in my small city, none Japanese speciality here. In some convience store they are sell onigiri, but i rarely buy it.
But if you ask about rice, rice is literally our primary here. Its not a meal if dont have rice, they say. And i agree.
Ive never eaten japanese food. Just chinese food. Might try one day
Try the Singaporean Japanese Italian chain, Milan Shokudo.
I would've like to know your thoughts if there was any difference in the taste in Singapore compared to the ones in Japan, and whether you had a preference.
Great video as always!
(I live in Japan so I have Japanese food quite frequently, haha)
I cook Japanese food at home about twice a month. We go to some Japanese restaurants once or twice a year, but their prices are so high that they are not posted on the menu. In other words, if you have to ask, you can't afford to eat there.
It needed 4 more minutes in the oven regarding that souffle 😊
That's not focaccia, just pizza dough, hehe.
I usually eat Japanese food at least once every couple of months, but sadly there's not a lot of variety other than sushi, and it is also a little expensive.
Those meals don't look as appetizing as those in Japan but they still look a lot better than the typical high end restaurant in Singapore.
I do most of my cooking at home, so we only eat authentic Japanese food every 2 months or so.
At least twice a week 😅
Wished I knew you are in Singapore ☹☹
Oh FFS that focaccia is really a naan
Itadakimas🙏❤🎉
Nice to have a digestive system telling you are 60% full. In my case it comes to late. You are 150% full when I am in the the middle om the third portion....😏
I saw pineapple / salmon pizza on your phone menu. I'm not a purist but I'm glad you didn't order that!
I wish, 2 times a week, but it is 2 times a month. It's pretty expensive to eat it here.
❤❤
Thanks for always supporting me :)
These are interesting places, but I don't think you were impressed with the last one. I often ate Japanese food when I frequently travelled to another city in Ontario. But there aren't any places in my hometown that serve Japanese food to the level that I got to know in Cambridge, ON. The ones here are mediocre at best.
I eat Japanese food at least four times a week. I would be the size of an A380 were I to live in Japan.
I'm in Wyoming and the choices for Japanese restaurants isn't great. I do have a couple of decent restaurants however, so I try to go at least a couple of times a month.
I eat Japanese food very rarely because there aren't many Japanese restaurants near me.
Everyday if I could. Realistically, twice a month.
To be honest, I only eat Japanese sushi, and only about twice a year. I eat rice at least three times a week.
Hey, Solo Traveler, why don’t you eat at local Singapore 🇸🇬 KOPIDIAM and local hawker food centres ?
He wrote in the description that trying Japanese restaurant chains in Singapore was a new experience for him as he usually eats at hawker centers or food courts when he travels there, so I'm presuming he's been to Singapore multiple times already.
honestly, japanese food in singapore cannot be considered japanese cuisine at all. the standards are a far cry from what we had in japan 😫
Every country is like that😊😚❤
good enough for local Singaporeans
That is not dissimilar to how the Chuka Ryori present in Japan is markedly different from the cuisine in China.
Why Japanese food in Singapore when you already live in Japan surrounded by same food. On average I eat Japanese food 6 times a year, sushi and tempura mostly and grilled mackerel when available.

"I'm ready to eat". 😂😃 That second restaurant isn't Japanese.
It's a bit of pity to be going to the one of the food capitals of the world and then eat at a food chains from backhome. I understand the gimmick but there is so much food, including new style curry's to be had in Singapore 😁

Wait, you in Singapore!?
Is women's bath on the other side?
