Wow i am here for the first time changing my kitchen floor. I gotta go to HD get a sharp blade cuz i am here for 4 hours trying to remove old glue. I knew there was something easier.
I never had it that lucky Ive had glue under that for up to an 1/8 in thick in some places I normally use a multitool/hammer drill/scraper and hammer The multi tool saved the most time
Alexander Chance ....can you explain ur procedure ....r u saying warm it up meaning warm water first????Please help.... desperate to remove this 1978 or 80 rolling out vinyl. Thank you in advance🙋🙋🙋
Thanks for sharing..... exact same vinyl in my kitchen....will install ceramic tiles .....the installer wants to install my ceramic tiles over this vinyl flooring....why??? feels gross thinking this vinyl will be underneath the times ..😒😒
The floor I am taking won't cut like that. Looking for other options because it took 7 hours just to remove a section a little smaller than what we see and I have a long ways to go.
why would you want to get rid of that sexy Vinyl?? (obviously, I'm serious)... but no, I found also that pre-heating the rooms makes a big difference as well.
I'm using a 12" floor scraper that I sharpen w my Dremel and having to use all my weight to get up 3 inch pieces at a time. The worst floor project I've ever dealt with
That was a asbestos party for your lungs. Congratulations for your great camera but don't teach this things to people that not understand the hazard that could be the old linoleum. Very unresponsive.
@@azad0n409 That's interesting. So since they banned asbestos in 1978, that means they manufactured vinyl with paper backing that did not contain asbestos? Just asking because we have vinyl flooring with paper backing put in about 1984 and I was wondering if it had asbestos or not.
@@Dboy3735 i think you should treat is as if it has asbestos and get it tested before you do anything because what I read is that it was 86 when they stopped adding asbestos to the backing in the united states.
My glue did NOT come up that easy you made it look a lot easier than what mine is

Ug. What a nightmare. I'm dealing w/ this right now. Thanks.
That floor must not have been glued down. I wish it were that easy!
I wonder if this tool could be used to get glued down vinyl from plywood
Hey try using a torch and warming it up.. It peels right up
What about the glue?

There’s like no glue on there look how easy it comes up.
Right. I wish it were that easy
I think my glue is 100x stronger than yours
Agreed😂 mine coming off at a snail’s pace
😂
Would you use the same method when vinyl has been glued down to particle floor boards or will it crumble? Thanks for the video
I think this is the same old flooring design that I have!

try roto hammer with a chipper bit
Thanks for sharing the information.
This floor is a cake walk compared to the tile jobs I get
What tool is that?

Vinyl in my room was like 15 yrs old and removing on it own.. it started to look very bad so just got rid of the whole thing
Mine is all sticky and fibrous. Not crisp and clean like yours. Lucky you.
Will that also work on a van. I removed the carpet and it still has sticky glue on it

OMG Me too in the utility room!!!
How much to have the vinyl removed

house was fairly new so asbestos was not used here for sure
Right I only thing asbestos is a hazard in houses dated 65’ and older
‘86 they stopped on this type of backing material

How totally useless that was. What a waste of time to watch.
Why do you say that?….
@@ladyCY413 because there was basically no glue on that floor. It showed nothing that helps if you actually have glue on the floor.
That vinyl must be cheap as it wasn't thick, try thicker harder wearing floors in hotels, we have to scrape them up and it is NOT easy at all.
