    For me Infinity was my first introduction to Journey and it was Steve’s beautiful voice that hooked me. Neal is a beast on the guitar and I love Gregg’s smooth vocals but it’s Steve that gives me goosebumps. I don’t care who they get to tour with them now, it’s Steve who floats my boat.

    What Steve Perry and Journey accomplished in the 10 odd years they were together is MIND BLOWING - any band would think themselves blessed with even a 1/10 of Journey's success and talents - I mean look at their song catalogue - probably the greatest set of songs next to the Beetles catalogue. Look how many of those songs from 30+ years ago are still relevant today, enjoyed today - and why is that because Journey wrote about the everyman and what mattered to them - songs they could relate too, songs that are TIMELESS! Their live shows and touring are the stuff of legend and still talked about in awe, amazement and dismay - sweet baby Jesus how did they survive it!. A band known for playing better than their studio album...seriously who does that?!?! - Journey that's who!!! There is no denying that Steve and Neal brought out the best of each other's musical talents and that chemistry can't be bought or manufactured - Who ever came up with that cooperate rock label can suck it - true talent will always prevail and stand the test of time. God Bless Steve Perry and Journey for a wonderful legacy that generations will continue to enjoy

    Was at the induction of Journey into the Hall and it was stellar! Word on the street as of today is that Steve Perry has a new record and will be releasing it soon: I know it's been rumored for awhile but it seems to be coming to fruition. Steve was in the rehearsal studio in LA when he popped over to sing with Toad the Wet Sprocket. A music insider today says Steve is going to do a Special on CBS and his record will be released very soon. Hoping this rumor is true as waiting since 94 and the For the Love of Strange Medicine record/tour is far too long for the one known as "The Voice"! Steve is extremely special and gifted!

      Tracy Agoston-Thompson Yes. They were so massive 1981-1983. No auto tune. They made an Atari game after this band. They did Budweiser commercials. I was lucky I saw them live in Chicago in October 1986. Nobody touches Steve Perry in his prime. Their sound live was so crisp and tight. Eventhough they got in HALL OF FAME....THEY STILL ARE UNDERRATED MUSICALLY. THIS BAND WAS PHENOMENAL!

    Awesome tribute to Journey, I knew they were great I just learnt here that they changed the future of Rock and Roll, WOW!. I first listened to Journey in 1978 and immediately bought their LP 'Infinity' and tremendously loved the songs 'Wheels in the sky' and 'Lights' It was a great LP. I bought many of their LPs when they were first released and still have them. I had a great stereo and would have a lot of parties or get togethers from 1978 to 1988 and Journey music was always part of them. Steve Perry's voice was addictive he is that incredible. Been a huge music lover and collector for over 50 years and Journey is among my favourites of all time. I have 500 lps, 3,000 music cds and Zero mps as sounds lousy.

      Even Neil said in recent interview, that Steve had played Drums for years, bass and even some guitar.
      Steve Perry was
      genius and a huge part of arranging, writing/co-writing, eventually, producing, part of recording, mixing, remastering & putting to vinyl recently. He is why so many albums were made and sold during his years. Journey has never put out as many albums in all the years since Perry wasn’t with them!
      And yes, Arnel is 54 not 73 and hasn’t ever sang as many concerts to date as Steve did.

I have said, no other guitarist had moved me to tears than Neal's solos. I truly believe the mixture of Neal and Steve Perry was the perfect mix. Jon was perhaps the background glue, but the two lights that stunned brightest was both Schon and Perry.

They are in the HOF because of Steve Perry, and the other band members that were inducted in 2017. Again, the current lineup is talented and able to entertain the masses on tour but the groundbreaking writing, productions and live performances that put them into the RRHOF and that we continue to hear on radio, commercials, movie/television soundtracks are from the inducted members from 40 years ago.

      @@danymerilles5914 , no need to believe me. You don't know me well enough to trust what I say. Just look it up. The band is in the RRHOF for their past work, NOT from anything they've released over the past 10 or 20 years. Btw, I have no idea that if Steve Perry were still their lead singer, they'd be charting anymore either. It's not a slam to Arnel. Again, Arnel allows them to keep touring with their hits and working on new songs with their signature Journey sound. Arnel can match Steve Perrys tone very well. But again, look it up. The members you saw giving the acceptance speeches are the members of Journey in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, none of the other lead singers and none of the band members that filled in here and there. Google it: "Which members of Journey are in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame".
      Arnel is a wonderful vocalist for sure though AND from what I've read, and see via interviews and documentaries, he is a sweetheart of a good guy too it seems. Happy Journey loving man! 👍❤

I'm guessing they might retire at the end of the tour but you never know. 50 years is a really good run for a band. I think in the end, Steve made the right decision when he left the band. It was not the direction the 2 former Santana musicians wanted to go! But as has been said, Steve wrote songs about what people were actually experiencing. No longer a jam, fusion band it sold immediately and many other bands followed suit! The rest is history. Thank Goodness for Herbie Herbert!

    I was into two bands pretty heavy in 1978 at age 10, and they were Journey and The Police, and it's funny because although you cant deny how good the Escape album was in 1981, or 1980s Police album with Da Do Do Do, it was the Polices first two albums, and Journey's Infinity 1977/78 through Evolution, and their live 1980 album "Captured" that I really dug! After Escape I had no interest in Journey, and by 1980 I wasn't that into the Police, although I can appreciate both bands. With say Zep, The Beatles or Stones and those mega bands, you didn't really have to be there, but if you didn't live through the Journey day's once Perry arrived, then there's no way of understanding what that music brought. Journey was very unique and kicked ass!

    This band is no Zeppelin or Beatles but deserved to be in sooner. Schon is a fine guitar player and their best yrs were when Greg Rolie was in the band. They obviously had hits after that when Cain joined the band but it was kinda schmaltzy at that point after the Escape album, anyhow. Well deserved but don't get carried away saying this band I better than the Beatles or Zeppelins or the Who

    A good team but not outstanding. Maybe in the US, almost unknown in Europe ..

    • @misfit5775
      @misfit5775 6 років тому +4

      In their heyday you are right, almost unknown in Europe, very well known in Asia, and inescapable in the US. With the state of rock & roll today though they are now very well known worldwide.

      I'm sorry but I disagree. Journey has played all over the world and are one hell of a band! With Steve Perry's vocals, he shot them to the top! A Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a Bammie and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame among some of their well deserved awards. If that's not outstanding, I don't know what is.

    • @UncompressedWAVmusic

      YES outstanding in USA , they were a TOP TEN hit makers every LP in USA and Canada once Steve Perry joined with Journey.

  • @bendari

    Perry's contribution made the the music too mushy ie "Open Arms" but 14 yr. old girls dig it, men not so much!

      Even though they softened later on in the Perry years, their talent still stands. Their first 4 albums with him were stellar.

      Jonathan Cain is the one that brought the mush to the band not Perry.

      So you didn't love them, so what, they had 25 hits on 9 LPS, I'm a MAN and loved all their music and so did my friends who were MEN

  • @arlypaulmigueldamuy5221

    Because of one man Journey has kept the fire burning yet has been left out of the induction???? Plain mistake or racism?

    • @misfit5775
      @misfit5775 6 років тому +11

      Neither. The Rock Hall chose to induct the hit making factory of the 70's/80's, the lineup(s) that made the most impact on rock & roll (25 hits on 9 albums). The Journey fire has kept burning because of many men not just one, but if it was just one you know who it would be, let's be honest here.

    • @tamaraponde7113
      @tamaraponde7113 2 роки тому +4

      He didn't contribute to their catalogue. When you think of Journey you think of the 70's 80's and early 90's. It's during that era that their GREATNESS was established. They're like a Karaoke band now.

    The reason why Journey got an award in RRH for the first time it's because of Arnel not by Perry.
